Walavan Sivakumar's Online Review Report Card

On December 14 last year I suffered a major seizure. I had been feeling increasingly miserable mentally and emotionally leading up to that seizure. I attributed the advanced symptoms to Covid “brain fog” even though I wasn’t really aware that I was in such a big fog. The symptoms I experienced, were a general lack of excitement about things that usually I was excited to do, anger in the form of indignation at all the people around me, even though they were behaving the same and foremost, a deep desire to not be conscious, which was different than the depression I suffered throughout my life, which was under control with medication. My desire to not be conscious ( even though I wasn’t consciously aware of not wanting to be conscious) took the form of taking over-the-counter medication that would help me or keep me asleep, even though I suffered with insomnia. Never, ever would I have guessed that I had a tumor in my brain. I had never had seizures before, so how do you even know to ask that kind of question. When I woke up in the hospital days after my seizure, I was told that Doctor Sivakumar had removed a billiard-ball sized tumor from the lining of my brain, a meningioma. I was told that the surgery lasted 11 hours. Dr. Sivakumar is Superman. His ability to remove that growth without causing more damage gave me my life back. It is no less a miracle than any miracle I have read about. Dr Sivakumar is a miracle. My gratitude for his competency, caring and goodness and all the caregivers including Dr Wagle at Providence Little Company of Mary knows no bounds. That day a year ago I was incredibly fortunate to wind up in their care at Providence Little Company of Mary and City of Hope.

Dr Sivikumar and his team are wonderful, caring and very competent individuals. They take the time to share information and especially complicated details regarding issues and treatment plans. They listened carefully to me and took my needs in consideration. Dr Sivikumar included my husband in our discussions and accepted my desire to be actively included in evaluating my condition and planning my care

Dr. Sivakumar and his whole staff are incredible! I was recommended to him and drove 130 miles to each visit. I am so grateful for him and would drive whatever miles we're necessary to see him! The professionalism, the knowledge, the peace that he gave me after seeing so many doctors! Wow! He made me feel in an instant what other doctors had failed to do! He knew exactly what needed to be done and spoke with care... CARE... is what is missing in doctors today. Dr. S is unique and to me, top in his field! Thank you thank you thank you!!! I have been through 3 brain surgeries with Dr. Sivakumar due to a Pituitary Chordoma. He and his team are amazing. The surgeries are completed endo nasally and there is no visible head/skull scars. My first two surgeries, my inpatient say was two days and the third one was a one day stay. He thorough, caring, incredibly competent in all he does! He explains everything and always allows time for questions. He, as a nuero-surgeon, even has a sense of humor! I would recommend him to anyone needing brain surgery. The team at PNI is excellent and all work well together.

What can you say about the man that gave you your life back! I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia 2 years ago and initially, it was controlled with medication. However, the pain escalated in December 2022 and I was submitted to Little Company of Mary hospital. The pain was so severe that I couldn’t talk or eat, even sips of water triggered a shock. I was given multiple nerve pain medications but to no avail. I was then introduced to Dr. Sivakumar. Previously, I said that I would never go through surgery but I had never experienced pain like this and I knew that I couldn’t live with the pain as it was. Dr Sivakumar went over my options and very clearly explained the process. I trusted him instantly and I basically said yes please, thank you and when can you do the surgery. 2 days later I went through Microvascular Decompression surgery and I’m so happy that I did. It was a huge success! I was sitting up talking, drinking, eating a few hours after surgery and as Dr Sivakumar believes in heal at home, I was discharged the next day. He also took the time to come in to see me, on his day off, before I was discharged. I have not looked back and my family and I will be forever grateful to him and his team for their compassion, caring and loving manner. I was so lucky to be in the right place at the right time to meet this brilliant surgeon!

Dr. Sivakumar is an outstanding surgeon who really knows what he is doing. He removed a mass from my forehead and you can’t even see an incision, I still don’t know how he did this particular procedure. My friends and I are extremely impressed! This dr is very sincere and caring. Dr Sivakumar is very skilled and careful, I can’t thank him enough for helping me. He was also very nice to get me in late towards end of year since I already met my deductible which helped insurance wise. I highly recommend this Dr.
