When OB Techs are referred to as just OB Techs, as sometimes happens in the medical world, it goes to show how undervalued we are. When I’m in the operating room, I’m the same skilled professional as I was when I was in the main OR working as a Surgical Technician. It’s a sacrifice to specialize into what is viewed by others, as less than a Surgical tech, however it is truly the same career with additional duties, albeit with lesser pay. However I am not alone in this! There are over 96 OB techs in the Northern California region alone that feel exactly the same way. When OB techs hear that Walnut Creek won their reclassification to Surgical Techs, we become isolated as if we are not the same exact job class. There have been numerous letters and signed petitions to our union representatives proving that we were in the OR more than 51% of our time. Additionally, we sent letters when we were denied the equal classification. The evidence was stated there and prevailed at Walnut Creek, so why not grant equal classification throughout the Northern Region. It’s a question to who we really are. OB techs receive about $15 less than a surgical tech, however are in the operating room sometimes from the moment we arrive, until the next shift relieves us. Sometimes there’s no relief at all to either take a lunch break or even run to the bathroom. When it is that busy, then the floor has no one to assist with deliveries or even stock the unit with adequate supplies. Accordingly we spend our last half hour completing many of these duties, so it doesn’t encumber the next shift. In 1996 I joined the Army and completed 2 years of training to become a certified surgical technician. Over the last 20 years I’ve done General, ent, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, gyn, podiatry, maxillofacial, neuro and scope surgeries. Specializing as an OB tech, I have loved every moment of it. It’s so rewarding to help bring new life into this world. I truly see OB tech as a calling, one which is noble and beneficial. As a Senior OB tech/Senior surgical tech, it is my incumbent duty to aid in the labor and delivery of new-born infants. I put on a uniform and comfortable shoes and clock in. I have the education and experience to do for others what they cannot do for themselves. However, it's the intimacy of the work that feeds the OB tech myth and it is only a myth not a fact! I assist in surgery, help in labor, maintain par levels of supplies, run specimens to lab, pickup meds from pharmacy and many other essential functions. I am there 1st for the patient and 2nd to be a team with my co-workers. But to call an OB tech, just an OB tech rather than a surgical technician diminishes the position. I will not stop bringing in new lives even in a reclassified denial as a surgical tech. I will not be a failure if I give up self-sacrifice for self-care. OB techs have not learned this lesson well. If we were to put ourselves first, labor and delivery would need to hire up to 9 different people to do the job of 1 OB tech. For many reasons surgical techs become OB techs. What a radical notion: OB Techs claiming the human choice of a profession rather than giving surgical techs the credit for our good works. Try this: take a look in the mirror, and repeat after me. "I am an OB tech, but also a surgical technician. I do a good job. That is enough."

The woman in the birth certificate division goes our of her way to be rude and downright mean

Kaiser Hospice services don't deserve even one star. Hospice staff seldom provided updates on my mother's care, and information they did convey was superficial and impersonal.When Kaiser decided my mother was no longer eligible for Hospice, I requested records so that I could dispute their decision. Kaiser resisted and delayed.When I finally secured the records, I found descriptions of my mother's condition were wildly inaccurate. I also discovered that Kaiser had resisted filing status reports required by the facility where my mother resided. When Kaiser finally did comply, they simply sent a photocopy of their original intake report. Outrageous.My strong recommendation:Avoid Kaiser Hospice. We eventually found an exceptional provider. Look beyond Kaiser to secure the care you want for the people you love.

Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable doctors. The family medicine center is a very friendly place to visit, and I trust the staff in cardiology with my life.

Had my 2nd son here. Very caring doctors and nurses. Clean facilities. Both my boys get medical care here.

I have only good things to say about all of my experiences with Kaiser. I wouldn't have any other insurance. They are really great.

Every staff member from the janitors to the leaders all genuinely care about the patients that walk in their door. Very understanding, respectful, and overall great staff. Will be back for all of my future surgeries no doubt!!! I cannot get the point across enouth that these are some next level people here. I wish i could thank them all personally and let them know how mich of a difference they made in my life.

The bedside manner in which my moms Dr. had said, "Now why are you crying?" Really upset me. Really, it's my mom and I'm feeling defeated while she is in so much pain.

Things moved quickly. They were nice and had a heart and well trained Thank you all for all the help�

I thank everyone for helping my mom we just found out on August 8,2017 That she has colon cancer and still don't know what kind of cancer she has but all staff and Dr are making her comfortable with her pain tku once again for all your support and always checking up on her while she is staying there.Argelia
