List of Teodoro Nissen's Reviews
Nissen promised to have me back to work in 3 months it's clearly just about the money here it is 3 years later and 2 surgery's and have been fired twice from two different places because I still can't perform work correctly without dealing with pain
It already frightened me. That doctor Teodoro Nissen. I have surgery. Ya me dio miedo. Que el doctor teodoro nissen. Me haga cirugia.
tldr: Dr. Nissen views any clarifying questions you might ask about his medical opinion to be 'arguing'. He is incredibly dismissive, cold, and condescending from the moment you enter his office. Advocating for fair and supportive treatment for yourself only sets him off further. Additionally, his back office operations are essentially non-existent. Save yourself the time and be seen elsewhere if at all possible. In my initial visit to Dr. Nissen's office I was seen with Ben Hubbard, PA. During this visit, I felt heard, supported, and was given clear follow up instructions for 2 referrals (EMG study and Xray). Xray was done that day downstairs (Sutter in Vallejo); the Xray team was fantastic - so friendly and fast. Unfortunately, 4 weeks after that initial appointment, the EMG referral is still not at the doctor's office so I am unable to schedule the EMG. Nonetheless, I arrived at my follow up appt with Dr. Nissen and was asked about 4 questions re: my shoulder pain. Strangely, he wasn't aware that I had recent imaging of my neck and shoulder, despite them being discussed in my initial visit and the physical disc copies being on file in their office. After about 5 minutes of discussion, he advised me to take pain medicine "per instructions on the bottle, as much as my gut can tolerate" and to go to physical therapy - despite having just finished 6 weeks of PT. It's fine if I'm not a surgery candidate, but in an attempt to ask clarifying questions about his opinion on the source and treatment of my pain (since the treatment he recommended was what I'd recently done) he accused me of arguing with him and immediately told me he was going to refer me to another orthopedic office because 'he wasn't going to argue with me'. When I asked why he couldn't simply refer me to the other orthopedic surgeon in the same practice (Dr. Centeno) he said, "Oh you definitely don't want to see him". I don't know what that means but if Dr. Nissen feels that way about the co-owner and partner of his private practice, something is wrong. In addition to all this, he randomly told me anxiety was a contributing source of my pain and that he could tell I had anxiety "just by looking at me". He also followed nearly every sentence he spoke during the appointment with "does that make sense?". Everything about my interaction with him was chaotic and condescending. And he never reviewed or discussed the Xray the PA ordered at my last appointment. Glad my insurance paid for that! Based on my experience today, I'm really sorry for anyone who has been seen Dr. Nissen and been treated this way in the past - I've really never felt more let down by a physician. I hope this was a one-off but given the mediocre reviews he has on all medical sites, it seems unlikely. If you're able, I'd highly recommend going to someone else.
Not very considerate of others physical pain or time. Did not help my mom at all. Had her come to an appointment and the doctor was late. Was completely dishonest on the report and was discharged when she needed help.
Try shutting your mouth and try actually listening to your patients!!! Two questions, and I'm interrupted, and basically blown off. When trying to speak to yet another Orthopedic surgeon, who isn't interested in putting forth their best and the patient starts to say "I can't walk"... and that orthopedic surgeon interrupts to say " No, I saw you walk" Bro..THATS THE END OF THE CONVERSATION!!!! if you think hobbling from downstairs, in pain with every step IS WALKING, you need some serious soul searching. I took maybe two dozen steps from the garage to the "providers" office. Yep folks, according to this "provider" THAT CONSTITUTES WALKING. A huge (size of Texas) red flag. Yet another minimizing, denying, apathetic, argumentative surgeon washing his hands of any care. AND who doesn't care enough to even let a patient finish a sentence. SMH. Just like the rest of them. I can say one thing, he is just as bad or as good as his contemporaries. That's not a good thing. Your perception will depend on if you are a patient desperate for help or not. Absolute waste of time and energy and half a tank of gas. Argued about dates of procedures, that's called gaslighting, I refuse to go down that road... so I just claimed to be stupid about the dates. When I have jumped through all the hoops in getting x-rays and when the film isn't sent, and I show him x-rays from after my last surgery which are on my phone, WITH THE DATE CLEARLY SHOWN...he had no thanks, just handed the phone back. YOU'RE WELCOME!! IMHO Arrogance is deep here and can be deadly in this profession, this surgeon is no different than every other surgeon I have dealt with in the past 5 years. (except two). So yes, I have a personal experience baseline of care, compassion and it's not here. When a patient tells you they are experiencing WORSENING SYSTEMIC REACTIONS to an implant, and you start your pathetic bs, it's telling.
Dr. Nissan and his staff are the best! They took care if my husband's hip replacement with the best medical care known to man! He was taken care of so well he is going back for his other hip to be replaced. That’s trust! You have a full understanding of all procedures and you are fully aware if your own health status from the beginning!
Dr didn’t give me a thought checkup. Gave me a shot, prescribed physical therapy and sent me on the way in15 minutes or less. Charged insurance $1700 for the visit. $180 for physical therapy which I never received. Would not recommend this office.
Dr.Nissen replaced my ACL and did a terrible job.I have been in pain for 2 years on a knee that has a screw he put in, sticking out of my bone and the ACL is not intact.Never received a post opp brace.I had a new MRI done and it is in bad shape so it needs to be redone. Beware you don't want the nightmare he put me in?? THANKS TEDDY
Hi My name is Dave and I had Dr.Nissen do surgery on my left knee and have been recovering for 1 year.My knee was in a lot of pain and when to a specialist from Concentra and he reported everything was fine with out a MRI so I continued on in pain.I finally got a MRI done on my own and Dr.Cucchetti said Ted did a terrible job and the pain I was in was from a screw sticking out of my bone and the ACL surgery was a mess and needs to be done right away because of the screw coming out. He also never gave me a post opp. Knee brace and I fell several times. Don't go to Dr.Nissen unless you want problems.
Dr. Nissen is the best of the best!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
