I had a dog bite and the urgent care facility that stitched me up said I should have it looked at by a hand specialist for extra precaution. I made an appointment with Dr Hanker and he took a quick look, complemented the nurse who stitched my hand and said nothing was needed and I would be fine. The appointment took no more than 5-10 minutes. I was then billed $1095.00 for a 45-60 minute consult I thought there had to be a clerical error! I called but SCOI/UCLA denied changing the billing I tried calling and fighting their system to no avail. I will never return to SCOI, they are a big, fat ripoff!!!!!!!

Dr. Hamlet treated me for a severely broken wrist after a year it is completely healed no surgery involved! His bedside Manet is great and he takes the time to treat you as an individual with clear easy to understand discussions about your injury and treatment plan. His assistant Layla is the greatest. She will climb mountains to get you the care you need with Dr Hanker or PT or anything else law related to your care.

well I had a broken bone in my hand and went to Dr. Hanker at first he was nice and his assistant as well. he up sold me on hand surgery told me how great it was going to be and how he has patience coming back to do the other side I can assure you that is not the case as soon as I had my first complaint he & his assistant Turner rude & not willing to help me he Damage a nerve in surgery and insisted it was carpal tunnel after 6 months of begging & suffering he did a nerve test (which I paid for) and found the carpal tunnel was collapsed during surgery "it was like a hour glass" he also told me pregnant women get carpal tunnel.. REALLY ! he did the surgery with no out of pocket expense but billed my ins co and then tried to bill me later whole nother story so I have constant pain lost 80% of the function and my hand looks like it is on crooked and i get commented on it constantly I have to live with a deformed crippled hand for the rest of my life THANKS DR. HANKER!! oh yea on the day of the surgery he uses a marker & draws on the area to operate (common) he drew on my hand and then draws on my elbow my wife & I look at each other in disbelief should have ran at that point. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DO NOT GO TO SCOI I would give him negative 5 stars this was a life changer their are enough words to tell you what this man did to me he should have cared about me & not the $ he was going to make we should be able to trust Doctors their supposed to care for us!

UPDATE- 2018- Still can't play guitar, finger in tendon has been permanently damaged and no one at this office ever reached out to follow up or even to see how I was doing or see how physical therapy was going, if it was getting better, or even to try to remedy the situation seeing that he worsened this entire situation and caused me massive amounts of medical bills not to mention has now caused me to have to find a new career path, and because I signed that paperwork before my surgery I have no legal recourse. wow... I'm completely stunned that this human is even a Physician... people like this should not be in this field.I do not take joy in writing negative reviews. In fact, I love focusing on the positive things in life and the wonderful things that people do. If you look at the rest of my reviews you will see evidence of this. I believe this is possibly the only negative review I have ever written. Maybe one of two. I wouldn't write something like this unless someone truly needed to know that they really messed up, and I honestly cannot stress enough how much this surgeon has ruined my life. It's unfortunate that I made the mistake of walking into this man's office. It has literally cost me my right hand. Dr. Hanker, I wish I could find someone who could fix the damage you did. Unfortunately, it's been really difficult to find someone who can fix a tendon that has been SLICED not "nicked" according to the operation report which, yes, I did read and then reattached somehow slightly shorter.WHAT A NIGHTMARE

Was such a pleasure meeting with Dr. Hanker. Aside from a bit of a wait which unfortunately is par for the course these days, he was very nice and did not make me feel rushed at all. I felt as though I could ask anything I wanted to and he would answer it for me which he did.

My experience with Dr. Hanker has been negative . I consulted Dr. Hanker in his office for a painful swollen right wrist . After taking x - rays of both my hands Dr. Hanker - without talking to me - informed me that I had a medical condition called " pseudo gout " , that my right hand was " destroyed ", that I also had "pseudo gout " in my left hand - which had no symptoms - , that I would need to see a rheumatologist , and that I was " at risk of having all " my " joints destroyed " by this " pseudo gout ". He did not prescribe any medication or recommend treatment . I perceived his attitude as abrupt , condescending , belittling and strangely accusatory. Consequently I located and made an appointment with a rheumatologist - a process that took about one month of continued pain and non functionality of my hand . This rheumatologist after examination of my hand , interviewing me and viewing the same x-rays diagnosed my symptoms as a form of tendinitis and assured me that I DID NOT have this dreaded "pseudo gout " .He prescribed an anti inflammation medication , and my symptoms have since cleared up.

Dr. Hanker was excellent. He is a terrific surgeon and called me back promptly when I called with some pre-op jitters and questions about my upcoming surgery to repair a broken and dislocated thumb. His team in the office, Radiology, and SCOI surgery were very kind and patient. Liza, my post-op RN, all of the pre-op RNs and my RN Anesthesiology provider, Doug, were awesome. I was very anxious and I am sure pretty high maintenance and each of these lovely medical care providers were unphased and super patient. The process and surgery were seamless and discharge was a breeze. Everyone was patient, kind, tolerant and skilled. Thank you!!!

I broke my wrist really bad and got an appointment with him that same day in the afternoon. He explained to me the x-rays that were done to my wrist and how minimal the surgery would be. Got it done the next day and you can't even tell I have a scar or nothing. 5 years later no pain free and have not had any problems. Excellent doctors, one of the best in SCOI!

January 2017, I went in for carpal tunnel on my right wrist due to pregnancy in 2015. Few weeks later had surgery. 1/2 a day in bed, but back to functioning the next day. Efficient, knowledgeable, friendly staff. In a month I was back to practicing advanced yoga, and most importantly- take care of my rambunctious toddler!

All went smooth. Particularly notable is Leyla, who either answered when I phoned, or returned my calls within a short time. Leyla promptly followed through with anything she said she'd do. All doctors' offices should have help like this. All fees were explained, in language I could understand, and I didn't feel rushed through those explanations.
