List of Munaf Shamji's Reviews
This office and Dr. Shamji exceeded all my expectations. Office stuff was attentive, fast and professional. Dr Shamji took time asking me questions about my condition and medication, he was very pleasant and respectful. Will be comming here again if I need to.
Poor service. Rude and condescending. Front staff not accountable for providing poor directions and rushed elderly patient through delicate procedures. Appt at 8: a.m. but voicemail states office opens 8:30 so good luck in getting any help with correcting directions. According to front desk clerk. Lake Balboa is the same as Van Nuys although she never mentioned that on the phone the day prior when givu g instructions. Never will return.
I wanted to reach out to discuss a heart breaking experience I recently had with a cardiologist, Munaf Shamji that I was referred to by my primary care doctor. After waiting for what felt like an eternity to be seen, he came in an apologized for the wait. He said he wanted to give me zen time to relax so I would be ready. I was amused. I thought to myself, "this is a funny doctor." I thought he probably likes to be entertaining to patients. I told him I'm an English and History teacher. He said that makes me interesting. He then went on to ask why I am coming to the doctor and I explained that I'm 35, and my mother and sister died at 42 and 41 from a sudden heart attack. I told him this causes me anxiety and I can't tell what the severity of my chest pains are at times or if I should be worried. He made a joke and said that I could always find a new mother or sister with better genes. I believe my response to him was "no," but not as in "no, not find a new mom," but more as in "no, this joke is inappropriate."I considered trying to let this go and go elsewhere but as I sit crying in my car, I realize that I need to say something. Doctors need to have a level of professionalism that Munaf did not have within this moment. I came to the doctor, left my 3 kids at home to be cared for, only because I walk around with serious anxiety, fear, and sadness each day from losing my family members. I miss my mother and my sister so much and the pain I have knowing their fate and that I'm the sole provider for my own kids takes over. It makes me do things like go to the doctor to make sure I'm okay. I want to be around for my family. I know they cannot find another mother. Inappropriate comments and jokes about ones family or history should be off the table. I wanted to let this go, but I feel the need to let Munaf know that he needs to be better. I can take the time to find another cardiologist elsewhere that can provide my care with a higher level of empathy than I felt today. I hope that Munaf Shamji is able to take this experience and bring a higher level of empathy to his next patients. I have no doubt he's a great doctor, but he did not give me a great experience.
The heart is a miraculous organ and seeing a doctor about the health of one's heart, no matter what our age, can be anxiety-producing and scary. Dr. Shamji goes "above and beyond," not only with his expertise and knowledge, but also with the psychological aspect of reducing one's apprehension about what could or could not be serious issues. The entire staff at the Heart Medical Group is professional, extremely patient and very understanding. I recently underwent tests to determine the cause of specific symptoms. My anxiety was relieved the moment I entered the waiting room. In addition, the care and attention to relieving any worries about Covid was also very evident. I would not put the "care of my heart" in the hands of any other physician. Dr. Shamji takes care of the "whole" person. (Note: I am not related to nor do I know anyone personally at this office. My review is totally objective.)
I had the worst experience of my life when I was referred here. Before I even finished completing my paperwork, I was taken to a room. When I explained my symptoms, without receiving the fax from my primary doctor listing my medicines, Dr. Shamji said up my medication...his answer was up my medication without even knowing what I was taking!! He did not even have my paperwork, as it was still in my hand. When I threatened to write a negative review on Yelp, then he asked the nurse if my primary doctor's fax arrived with my current medication. I never felt so uncared for by a physician in my life, and especially with something so serious as my heart. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would. Do not see this doctor! Be careful...
I needed a new cardiologist in my area. Dr. Shamji is warm and kind. I felt like I knew him for years. The staff was lovely and they ran on time. So grateful to have found such a welcoming place.
Dr Shamji is the best cariac Dr in all of LA. I have been seeing him for many many years. He is always courteous and attentive I can’t say enough about him. Dr Shamji is the Dr that I trust to keep me alive all these years.
Dr shamji and his staff have always been very prompt and honest with information. They take the time to explain what is actually happening, and make certain the patient understands. I have consistently recommended them.
Dr. Shamji is an amazing doctor! I have been going to him for 22 years!
Nice and professional office. Everybody is helpful and Dr. Shamji is great

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
