This office is keen on racial profiling and rudeness. So if you have a choice, DO NOT GO HERE.I am on workers comp here, and it has been pretty horrible. Because of my brown skin and very Mexican name Ernesto Gonzalez, they've made many assumptions. Moreover, it shouldn't matter if I'm educated and have a master's degree, which I do, or if I got hurt shoveling coal - - EVERYONE should be afforded and treated with the same dignity and respect. I want to acknowledge that the actual Dr. I'm seeing, Eric Ferkle is very good. Still, everything else surrounding my care here is way below average and beyond unsatisfactory. His assistant Wendi is rude and unpleasant. THEY LAUGHED AT ME when I asked the front desk to change my text notifications from Spanish to English, and my request wasn't even done! I've had two appointments, and both times now, I've walked out with increased sadness, stress, and anxiety on top of already having to worry about my injury.

Well organized orthopedic MD group. Guanche just did surgery on me and I recommend him highly.  Smooth as surgery with general anesthesia ge5s.

I am extremely impressed by Dr. Guanche and his team.. Information was given and questions could be asked daily from three weeks before surgery through his on line communication website.Post surgical  pain management was amazing! I have been pain free throughou this process with only taking Tylenol and Motrin once home. Reading through his surgical report, his use of new technologies was impressive.

Elliott MaletI was transitioned from being a patient of Dr Joseph Burns to Dr Michael Bahk when Dr Burns relocated back east. I am a patient who contacted Polio when I was 4 years old. The Polio only effected my left arm in that it is paralyzed. I had a CT Scan of my right shoulder September of 2021. When I spoke to Dr Bahk's scheduler she said that Dr Bahk was ready to order parts for the surgery & she wanted to give me a surgery date. I indicated that I wanted to have a visit with the doctor prior to surgery. At the office visit of September 20th the doctor told us that he was seeing the CT Scan for the first time & he was not sure if he could use standard parts or need to order custom parts & he wouldn't know for a few weeks. During this September office visit Dr Bahk did not answer any of my questions & gave me a demeanor that he was indifferent whether he did the surgery or not.In recent months I have received mixed messages from Dr Bahk & his scheduler on a number of issues. The bottom line for me is if I can not trust my doctor to be straight & honest with me how can I let him perform surgery on me? If my doctor at SCOI is not trusted then his management at SCOI & UCLA should come into question as well.

I had carpal tunnel release surgery with Dr. Paul Simic and his team at SCOI. It was a remarkably pleasant experience. Athena at the front desk, Samantha MA, Ivette, Kiki in the cast room, Marc Castillo with wellness check in, and Julie PA, just to name a few, were first rate. They were very forthcoming with information so I knew what to expect and was prepared. Everyone spoke to me like I was a human being and was kind and compassionate, which has not always been my experience in a medical setting, so much appreciate it. In addition, the skill level and efficiency of everyone involved was exemplary. And of course I can't leave out the surgical skill of Dr. Paul Simic!

My first experience with surgery at SCOI was amazing.  Dr. Getelman was my surgeon.  This was  my first joint surgery (knee arthroscopy).  He made it a "seamless" experience for me at COSI (the on-site surgery center)..  After that ,I got to experience  SCOI's physical therapy center - one of the best places in the Valley.  Years later, I met more  of SCOI's "team"  -  Dr. Hanker (hand specialist), Dr. Jaivin (foot specialist), Dr. Hernandez (knees), and later on Dr. Ferkel and others as well.  Without a doubt, I can say, they're all great and ...the best part?  Besides having all  specialists "under one roof" (so to speak), at convenient locations  with  clinics kept sparkling ...plus the ease & facility in making appointments....it's been an ideal experience. Good Ortho care will cost you these days, no matter where you go.  But SCOI will not recommend any unnecessary procedures or med. devices for its patients and vastly outperforms large HMOs like Kaiser (did a little comparison survey of my own).  When they say "Look no further...", it means don't bother looking elsewhere , if you can (and  your Plan  allows for it).

One star is too many for this dump. I'm an injured worker and I had a 1st-time appointment with Dr. Barcahona on 9/9/21 at their Valencia office. Mind you I was skeptical about using SCOI as I have worked for IW WC attorneys for more than a dozen years and have always dreaded having to deal with, "we're too big for our own good SCOI". Two hours before my appt. I received a msg from their medical historian, Mary, asking to do a history over the phone!?!? After several attempts to reach her which took over an hour I politely asked why she was calling right before my appointment as I am trying to get ready and she came back with excuses about being out of the office for 6 days (not my problem) and then kept talking over me when I tried to speak and then accused me of being rude when she was the one who was being unprofessional. I get better service at the Jack in the Box down the street from me. Injured workers are like no other. They're stressed out from having to deal with pain, loss of wages, not working, and often times sitting at home and becoming depressed from their situation. That's why when I dealt with an IW I never took anything personally, not that I did anything wrong. What these disgusting people that barely qualify as human beings don't understand is that I had to fight for 4 months, after my QME exam qualified me as an IW, just to finally see a doctor. So that day I left a message for a gentleman who I was told was the manager of the Valencia office and Dr. Barcahona's assistant, Brenda Webster. On 9/14 after not receiving a call from either one I discovered that the person that was supposed to be the manager of the Valencia office, wasn't. They didn't even give me his correct name the first time. And then when I spoke with Brenda Webster, who should be renamed Karen, she told me that Dr. Barcahona was not going to see me and that they had informed my adjuster, without even contacting me. As I stated, I have dealt with this facility for years and nothing ever changes. Good medical facilities don't stay on WC insurance company MPNs because they actually treat their patients well and with quality care. The ones that stay on the MPNs chew their patients up and spit them out like this one. The only reason I decided to give Barcahona a chance was that a friend of mine in the industry said I should give him a chance because he had treated "one (1) of his client's decent. I am filing a complaint with the MPN that they are on and I am going to put up a YouTube channel and am going to start telling the horror stories of the WC industry and it is going to start with my situation. IW's have no chance in this state. If it's not the ins. co. beating upon you, it's your own doctor or attorney in some cases or the judges. DO NOT USE THIS DUMP. STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH, SANITY, AND DIGNITY. THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR THESE HYENAS.

Terrible service!! I went to see Dr Jamie Hernandez from SCOI about a hip/back/knee issue I was having. I explained it all at the initial phone call but when I actually got to the office I was told that they can only look at two body parts at a time. What kind of craziness is that? How are you supposed to figure out the issue of if you can't look at the whole body? I was told I needed cortisone injections to see if a hip replacement was needed. I had an injection in my hip and in my knee. And then was told to leave. I was not given any documentation or information on what to expect. An allergic reaction to the cortisone injection and ended up in urgent care. They told me I should inform the doctor, I made multiple calls but obviously it's difficult to get through to a human. When I finally got someone to call me back I let them know and their response was Oh okay thanks. That was it. No one ever followed up, I never got any checkups afterwards or anything. I called back after a while to see when I needed a follow-up appointment and it was like pulling teeth to get information from his office so I ended up not making a follow-up appointment. Also I asked the person on the desk if they could give me a price of what the appointment would cost. They said they couldn't do that and only billing could do that. I spoke to billing and they said that the desk in the office can do that. So I called them back! They told me I had to go back to billing again. I went back to billing and the director there gave me her information and she said you tell them that they need to give you the information and that I said so. I still don't have the information FYI. I see the poor woman from the scoi institute trying to respond to all the terrible reviews on here. But clearly nothing is changing so why even bother? This place needs new management and doctors who actually care about their patients health.
