Charles L. Menz's Online Review Report Card

Update to appointment with Dr. Charles Menz and Oceanview Gastroenterology. We received a follow up call from Dr. Menz's MA advising us that all random biopsies, including one polyp, proved to be negative for any issues. We just wanted to add this to our review because our experience with Dr. Menz, his medical staff, and the staff at Oceanview has been completely positive from beginning to end. We will book additional appointments with Dr. Menz and his medical group without hesitation.

My husband contacted Dr Menz due to a request from his GP to undergo an Endoscopy to verify or rule out certain health concerns. Dr. Menz conducted the preliminary assessment via Telehealth. My husband was the last appointment of the day, yet Dr. Menz spent over 40 minutes in order to familiarize himself with my husband's health history. My husband chose to use the Oceanview facility. From check-in to recovery, everyone on staff was professional, friendly, and very accommodating. My husband received a preliminary report with photos and a verbal explanation of the results, along with a copy for his primary doctor. We were very pleased and impressed with the entire staff and procedure.

Dr Menz is a WAS a brilliant doctor but his office is completely inept. They will not send test results to my GP, they do not know proper protocol to get prescriptions approved by insurance companies and Dr Menz will not see a patient in person. Dr. Menz does not seem interested in diagnosing your problem and actually helping you. I must say it is my worst overall experience with a doctor and his office in my life. I would not recommend him.

Worst care I ever received by a doctor in my life. I would not recommend seeing this doctor or anyone associated with his practice.

Dismissive. Then makes jokes with staff. Another arrogant doctor to be placed in the bunch.

Caution!! This Doctor has ZERO interest in helping you fix the problem. Instead, he pushes whichever medication he has recently purchased from the pharmacy company, and put a sub-par band aid on the symptom. Instead of fixing my issue, his carelessness exacerbated the issue which resulted in an emergency surgery and left me to start back at square one for treatment but with all the added problems that came from his carelessness. Horrible bedside manner, and is not interested in helping anyone, just wants your money Hopefully Covid shits this pos down one way or another.

Amazing GI doctor. He saved my life 25 years ago. I thank God for him in all my prayers.

Referred me back to my GP because he said I had no gallstones even though I was having severe pain attacks. Went to another gastro specialist in Santa Barbara, had a gallbladder emptying test done and was referred for surgery right away because gallbladder was not working at all. Also told me I probably had an H.Pylori infection but didn't know the exact antibiotics to give me to clear it and his colleagues were gone to confer with- ??? Never heard anything else back from his office until someone called me and said they couldn't do anything more for me. Thank God I was able to change drs. when I changed my insurance.

Calls me on a Sunday morning while I'm at church to discuss results of tests and leaves a message on my phone machine that he will call back. NEVER called back. Office staff are horrible.

I have had two colonoscopies with Dr. Menz. The staff was great from the time I checked in, and while I waited (about 30 minutes) for my turn with Dr. Menz. It is a very well run facility, and Dr. Menz is very informative about what he is doing and provideds his impressions along the way -- so you are not wondering if there is an issue or not. My results came back by mail with a few days. Great care and well run facility.
