Raymond Nickel's Online Review Report Card

Ray Nickel was seen by my husband for his arthritic toes. We saw him because of our wonderful experience with Dr Hofer, who replaced both of my husband's knees. BIG MISTAKE!We expected the same level of care, consideration, and expertise of Dr Hofer! Nothing could be further from the truth. He displayed a complete lack of care when pin, he put in place in the surgery, worked it's way out of the joint. His response was to pull it saying that it didn't need to be there anyway. This allowed the toe to curl under and heal that way. Of course he didn't seem to care, as he was never seen again. He left all followup to the PA. He MAY have been a good (?) orthopedist at one time. But that time is long gone, and he should be out to pasture.I cannot imagine that the practice administration is not aware of this behavior. Any one needing foot surgery should look elsewhere!

Sometimes one’s level of anxiety can be high when talking to Doctors about potential surgeries etc. so feeling Like you’re in an environment that treats you with respect and kindness is crucial when discovering paths towards physical healing. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm welcome. Dora, one of the front desk helpers is always so kind and remembers my name when helping me I very much appreciate this small detail. Dr. Nickel is very detailed in helping answer questions regarding my specific injury as well as creating a roadmap towards what my healing process will look like for me. I appreciate that when he sees me he is on time, not in a hurry and makes me feel like he has a vested interest in my recovery. When I am seen by Dr. Nickel I am not just a number, this is crucial to my recovery especially when trying to understand what it will take to fully heal. Finally, on your way out you see Brenda, who is very kind loves to help schedule your next visit.

The staff for follow up visits can be very trying due to not being able to see doctor sooner, when the pain is more severe or urgent

Dr Nickel is very knowledgeable and had a calm and respectful demeanor. He is a very good doctor.

I have had a foot/ankle condition for almost two years. Previous foot/ankle specialists diagnosed my problem but then dismissed me with no plan on how to live with it. Dr. Nickel explained all possible options with me patiently with enough detail for me to fully understand the full nature of my diagnosis. She showed care and kindness. Grateful to have found him.

Dr Nickel understood my unwillingness to undergo a knee replacement due to my husband’s health issues. Such a surgery would leave me unable to care for my husband and my husband would be unable to care for me. He presented another option which we are pursuing.

I broke my right humorous just below the shoulder. After X-rays and a physical evaluation, Dr. Nickel strongly recommended allowing it to heal in place, despite being significantly displaced. He said that surgery was not recommended because the procedure itself would be damaging to the soft tissue surrounding the arm and shoulder. So I ended up in a sling with a broken arm. I had checkups alternating between Dr Nickel and his Physician Assistant, Carrie. They told me healing was progressing. After several months of physical therapy, it seemed to me that my arm was not healing and I pushed for more testing. After the requested testing, Dr. Nickel discovered that my arm was not healing and I had a non-union. So I suffered the pain and expense and lost time wasting my time following his one-sided advise for nine months. I have now had surgery and am very pleased with the procedure and the results. The procedure resulted in no damage and my arm in healing quite nicely.

Dr Nickel is a very good listener. He addressed my problem and made sure test were ordered. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Nikel was great. He listened to what I had to say, He took xrays of both knees and went over them with me in detail. He recommended physical therapy and gave me an exercise to do for my heel. He even took the time to show me how to do the exercise. He was very thorough and did not rush through the appointment.

It was my first visit with Dr. Nickels. From the minute I walked into the office I felt very comfortable. Before meeting Dr. Nickels, I met his PA Kari Odeenath. She started my visit off feeling very comfortable. Then I met Dr. Nickels and he was just great. He answered all my questions and he made me feel as if he could really give me excellent care. My over all experience was perfect!
