List of Ucla Health Ventura Primary & Specialty Care's Reviews
Beware of excessive price gouging here. My total bill for a brief appointment was over $1,056. I saw a doctor for a first-time 10 minute appointment to ask him about statins. The doctor went through my numbers quickly and recommended statins. The next thing I knew, I am getting a $1,000+ bill in the mail. When I contacted UCLA Health, they told me they'd review it and contact me within 3 days. When over a week passed, nobody contacted me. I reached out again. They told me my appeal was denied without any further explanation. I know medical care is getting more expensive, but UCLA Health's pricing doesn't seem ethical. Additional note: Readers might be intersted to know that I left this same review on Yelp over a month ago in March. Kimberly E. from UCLA Health wrote on my Yelp review that they would like to personallly discuss my bill. Similarly to my first effort to discuss bill with someone, no one has reached out to me. They pretend with the follow up notes that they care, but this is window dressing so when others looking at these reviews might think that UCLA Health makes an effort to resolve issues. Not at all.
Doctor Madjid is exceptional in providing medical care and information. My cardiac concerns have significantly improved under his watch eye and medication management. I'm so grateful and relieved to now have Dr. Madjid as my cardiologist, and I highly recommend him.
I really like my primary care physician, Dr. Ilarde. He has a vast knowledge of many practices and does not hesitate to refer quality specialists when necessary. He's great at clearly explaining rather complex things and has a keen ability to zero in on what is important. I highly recommend the UCLA network for their ability to work as a team.
Dr James Ahern family practice is a fantastic gate keeper for your health care. He is able to help and direct you to very capable doctors!
Dr Whelan is the best GP I have had in decades. My initial consultation with him was impressive. He did an extremely thorough exam , asked relevant questions and scheduled a follow up.to review test results. In 2021 I suffered from vague symptoms that were not easy to diagnose. His persistence and his diligence paid off. He initiated a series of test/referrals that culminated in the creation of a UCLA team of specialists that saved my life. My husband was so impressed that he switched to Dr Whelan and is confident in the care he now receives . 5 stars
One appointment, won’t be going back.
Came in for a basic annual physical and the doctor I had my appointment scheduled with wasn’t in. they said they had called but I had no record of it and so they set up another appointment for later in the afternoon with another doctor. After the most basic checkup (I spent maybe 5 minutes with the doctor) I was charged $1,085. With my insurance in-network discount it was still $471. I called because I thought there must have been a mistake, but no, they confirmed that is their rate for a new patient office visit. Sharing so that if you are considering coming in for a simple check up you are aware of what it will cost.
Mixed bag of quality. Some are good. A lady I had was okay. Some I wouldn't trust to diagnose a sneeze though. The first doctor I went to visit, I asked for blood work because I was going to adjust my diet and life style and was trying to get a base line. He told me that it would be pointless and just a waist of time and money. Then I had their dermatologist in Thousand Oaks look at a mole and was like I'm a little worried it's been growing and he was like. Well it looks like dry skin to me and will probably go away in a few weeks. ... Nope 1.5 years later still there, and bigger. Charged me like $600 too.
Had an appointment here, was left in an exam room. The doctor never showed. The office supervisor was rude and unhelpful, treated me like the patients do not matter. Awful experience.
Worst service ever.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
