List of Discovery Mood And Anxiety Program- Vista's Reviews
I live next door. For SIX WEEKS I've been telling whichever staff member I can catch that they have a broken sprinkler. That it's shooting up in the air probably 30 feet, lands on the sidewalk and down a drain. It does this for 10 minutes every time the sprinklers come on. Obviously no one seems to care and whoever's in charge must have better things to do than talk to a gardener. It's only water, right? If they can't be bothered to even fix a water wasting sprinkler, I might be concerned about how well they're taking care of other things, like maybe your kids. Water conservation is a well known responsibility in California, except for maybe these guys.
Was a patient there and gotta admit, this is not a good place to be. The indidual therapy is nice however group therapy and strict schedule with no leniency gets exhausting. You do not feel heard and you're constantly told what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and if you dont do it right then you get a consequence. A very discouraging place to be. After leaving and finding the rightfit of a therapist I improved immensely. This is not a program for kids with very intense mental health problems. This is more a place for the kids who need a little mental reset. 100% not recommended for kids with defiance issues as it is avery trapping environment.
This was the best care i have ever received. I was a patient and all staff where so extremely caring and supportive, the food was nice and beds super comfy. And i received the best therapy ive ever had. This place changed my life, leaving here was so much harder than going.
This is the best care ive ever gotten, it truly changed my life. All the staff where so compassionate, caring, supportive, and put so much effort into our treatment. And the therapy was the best i have ever received. I learned so so much durning my time here. The beds where very comfy also, and the food was nice too. Leaving here was so much harder than going.
I called to get more info and turns out it wasn’t the right fit as they only offer group therapy. The representative I spoke with collected all my info because he promised that a clinical specialist would contact me with referrals to individual therapist in my area. It’s been over a month and no one has contacted me.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed with Discovery. Before my child was admitted, I was up front with them and let them know up front that I had limited income and could not do large payments at all. The staff assured me that they work with many families of different income levels, assured me that there would be an affordable payment plan option. In fact, we discussed payments of less than $200 or I would have to go with a facility that offers such low payment options. Now that the bill is due and I am communicating with the accounts department, there is NO affordable option, they offered a financial aid application which I don't qualify for because I'm just above the income level so they offered 25% discount and monthly payments of over $500 and if I can't do that then the account goes to collections. There is absolutely NO compassion for people who are barely making it during these times. I have to choose between feeding my 3 children or paying my child's bill.... and Discovery DOESN'T CARE! They didn't follow through on Their word and they are not willing to accept payments of what you can afford. If they would have been straight with me I would have NEVER had my child admitted and they know it!!!
Our daughter was at this facility for an extended amount of time. The team was so caring for our daughter, yet also pushed her to work on understanding herself better and how she can improve her thought processes. Her time at this facility was life changing not only for her, but for our whole family. Also, insurance covered our whole stay there which was amazing.
As with many parents, this year has been hell for us. We've been through a few outpatient programs, an inpatient stay and now a 48 day residential treatment stay at Center for Discovery. This program has been literally a life saver for my daughter. The setting at the Vista location is just 6 beds. It gives the patients an opportunity for very individualized care. The program is very structured. My daughter expressed to me that the staff is so welcoming, accepting and empathetic. Unlike other programs she has been in. The girls are in treatment all day long. Body acceptance, self esteem, relationship and communication skills, DBT and CBT therapy are some of the groups they participate in weekly. They also get to practice the skills they're learning on different types of community outings. We attended a weekly family therapy session, multi family group therapy and family visits on Saturdays. I was always able to call the staff and get an update about my daughter or check in with her individual therapist. It was incredibly hard to drop my daughter off to a house full of strangers, but I really do believe it saved her life. After meeting the staff I felt very comfortable and could tell that they were invested in my daughters care. Upon discharge we're headed to Center for Discovery's outpatient program. No need to look for another setting- this program is able to offer varied levels of care. I have seen their treatment approach really work for my daughter during our own visits, including the offsite visits we were about to do. I am excited to have her continue with the same level of experience and commitment that I witnessed in residential. I can't thank the staff enough. They are truly amazing people. If you send your child here you will not regret it.
We entered the program scared and confused, worried about our child. That child is coming out with a lot of maturity and insight into her anxiety and mental health struggles. The staff was very supportive and patient with us because we had a lot of questions. I was hesistant to even enroll my child in a residential program. I was happy to find that it is NOT a hospital setting. There is a nutrition program, self-care, game and movie nights plus ample school time. The staff worked with our child's school so she could finish the year; they took all that off our shoulders. It is a safe place when your kiddo is in crisis. I never once worried about physical or emotional safety. My kid had group and individual therapy, learned about coping skills, putting words to emotions, lots of stuff it would take months to learn in a once weekly therapy session.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
