Heather Chen's Online Review Report Card

Heather operated on and fixed my father’s cataracts. Per my father, who isn’t as internet savvy to write this, Heather is great and performed a perfect job. I've never been better. Heather has excellent bedside manners and I highly recommend her. *thank you Heather for fixing my dad’s vision

My initial experience started out as professional and courteous and the process was simple and straightforward and signing up to be a new client was a breeze. Unfortunately, reality hit, and I was treated like every other customer. (I really had high hopes since this was my first dentist after having moved back from outside the country). I found it highly inconvenient and bothersome to receive calls, after making my appointments, to shift to another time or if I could come earlier etc. It seemed to me that appointments were moved if someone else cancelled and after the third request to modify an existing appointment, I felt like a paycheck and did not feel valued anymore. My faith in this establishment continued to decline when I had a tooth that was filled twice by Chen continuing to come loose, allowing food stuff to go into my tooth and to make matters worse a painful growth on my gums as a result! I called and was directed to an oral surgeon because this Chen is just for general dentistry. My honest opinion is its great if you don't have a lot of tooth problems because they can accommodate you quickly but with issues like mines, seek another dentistry that is not general and specializes in a wider range of teeth-related issues to avoid the hassle of being sent elsewhere because it cannot be performed in-house.

Dr. Chen is the best dentist I have ever met so far. She is very kind, patient, and informative. I went here for a deep cleaning and the whole procedure was really pleasant, relaxing and comfortable. She put emphasis on her patients' feelings and explained everything I would like to know in detail. This is absolutely an impeccable experience, and I have recommended her to my friends!

It was very easy to set up an appointment at Dr. Chen's office. I was able to secure a time the week after I called. I'm so glad my mom referred me to her because she's probably the most pleasant dentist I've seen. She answered all my questions without interrupting and takes time to explain herself. She's also very gentle and careful during the procedure. I got some fillings done and a cleaning but it was quick and painless! I had to come back a few minutes after I left because I realized a filling needed some adjusting, but she was very nice about it!

I was a patient for 3.5 years at Dr Chen's office (until I moved out of the Bay Area), and I couldn't have wished for a better dental office. I would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a practice that respects its patients and provides premium services.

I just want to let everyone know that Dr. Chen is not a periodontist as she is identified on her Yelp heading. I was (am) in need of a periodontist and made an appointment with her based on this mis-categorization. I just got back from the appointment. She told me she asked Yelp to change the heading, but they never did. When I made the appointment I specified it was for an acute gum problem, so I'm thinking that the receptionist could have let me know that was not her specialty, but I'll write it off to miscommunication, as her website does not claim any periodontal skills. I would like to add that, based on the reviews I read, I expected a warmer welcome, a little small talk, and maybe some dismay at the the misunderstanding, but there was none of that. The conversation with the receptionist amounted to "Are you so and so? Here fill this out." The conversation with Dr. Chen was equally lacking in warmth or amiability. She may be a good technician, but if you are looking for a reassuring chair-side manner, you might not find it here.

Today marked my first dentist visit with Dr. Chen. I arrived 20 mins prior to my checkup. The front desk representative Mashi was prompt and professional. Paperwork was relatively a breeze. I was ushered into the room to await Dr Chen a minute before my scheduled appointment and Dr Chen saw me two minutes later. She was courteous and professional and made me feel comfortable by engaging in some lighthearted conversation prior to my checkup. She conducted an extensive X-ray of my teeth and gave me a temporary filling plus some helpful information (and reassurance because I badly needed it) regarding my teeth. She then scheduled me for a cleaning and all this was done within my allotted appointment time of 30 mins, before closing time. I was really impressed with how she handled my first checkup and can't wait to visit her for my scheduled cleaning. Thank you Dr. Chen!

I am surprised to see a lot of good reviews. I had a very different and very bad experience. I am not sure if it's because of my insurance. But she has a choice to accept or not to accept a particular insurance, once she decides to accept an insurance, she should treat the patient professionally. Unfortunately, this was not what happened. She was not professional, not polite, not nice, in fact she was emotional, impatient, impolite, and actually rude! I wish I never met this dentist, and I would not visit her ever again.

Dr Chen is my first dentist in California. She is very efficient,professional and skilled. Highly recommended.
