Dr. McGuinness answered all of my questions. Surgery was successful, up and walking the next day, back on my feet in a couple of days! Back to normal 2 weeks!

Dr. McGuinness is excellent. He is professional and friendly and answers all your questions thoroughly and takes the time to explain any and all concerns you have. I have a rare form of cancer which involved a small bowel resection. I have numerous blockages which Dr. McGuinness monitors closely. I highly recommend Dr. McGuinness! He is the best Colorectal Surgeon around!

Dr. McGuinness is absolutely the best. I have a rare form of cancer and have been hospitalized numerous times for intestinal blockages. During my hospital stays Dr. McGuinness is always makes himself available when I need him. He listens and addresses all my concerns, explains everything in a way I can understand, is patient and caring and is the best doctor anyone could hope to have. He will definitely exceed all of your expectations! Dr. McGuinness is absolutely the best Colon and Rectal Surgeon there is and just an all around great doctor! I am so lucky to have him as my physician!

Some serious health issues recently brought me to Dr. McGuinness. This guys is amazing in every way! I saw him at 11:00am, he saw something that concerned him and he had me in for a diagnostic that evening. Very communicative, called when he said he would call, in general a great medical provider. I still have a way to go dealing with my medical issue but having Dr McGuinness in my corner gives me confidence!

Dr. McGuinness is a kind, unassuming, patient, and talented surgeon. I recently found out I had an abscess. I was initially seen in urgent care and then was advised to go to the ER. At that time, I was prescribed antibiotics and pain meds with instructions to follow-up on Monday morning with a local colorectal surgeon. This surgeon was unable to see me due to a lack of OR time. Dr. McGuinness' office thankfully fit me into the schedule and he drained the abscess right in his office on my initial visit...thus avoiding further delay and outpatient surgery. This isn't the path for everyone and Dr. McGuinness explained all of my options along with the fact that two-thirds of patients with abscesses turn into fistulas down the road. While it's NOT what you want to hear, his knowledge and bedside manner is second to none. He is an extremely talented surgeon, doesn't talk too much, and does excellent work. If you need a rectal surgeon, I highly recommend Dr. McGuinness. His assistant (Shaima) was very helpful also.

I am not a big believer in doctors, but he was definitely compassionate and put me at ease for a long extensive surgery that he completed with honors. Very thankful that I choose him as my surgeon. All is well now and I am very happy it is all over. :)

Dr McGuiness should be cloned. Getting him as a surgeon was like winning the Lottery. I have also never quite met a doctor like him and he exceeded my highest expectations handily. He is referred to in John Muir by staff and nurses as #1 and I now believe them. His follow up is thorough. He was available at the hospital whenever I needed him for the time I was there even late at night and Saturday. Follows up with calls after surgery. Great listener, kind, patient and a great doctor. If there was an 'above and beyond' and a six star rating, I'd give it to him.
