List of Ka Ling (Karin) Cheung's Reviews
I was referred to Dr. Cheung by my primary care physician, and the experience has been frustrating due to lack of urgency and communication. While she was kind and pleasant during the one-and-only initial patient session, the follow-up has been non-existent regarding paperwork completion and peer-review with insurance company for CT scan approval.I would always be the one reaching out, with multiple phone calls and emails throughout the last two and half month. The front office coordinator would promise returning phone calls, but never did. I explicitly communicated to Dr. Cheung about urgently needing fire academy physical clearance during our initial session and all the subsequent follow-ups; and after incurring ~$1700 in out-of-pocket expenses, I still have no sign-off, in spite of satisfactory test results.I did not receive any direct care under Dr. Cheung's supervision, and would be reluctant to seek any, based on the lackluster follow-up experience with the front office.

I am so thankful, relieved, and fortunate enough to have found Dr. Cheung's office! She is a pulmonologist at Bass Medical Group who genuinely cared about me and about getting down to the bottom of my health conditions.I was really ill in February 2020 and was informed by my previous physician that, based on some CT and PET-CT scans, that it could not be determined whether I had pneumonia or malignancy. This was absolutely devastating news for me and my family to hear! Especially considering that I am a younger individual and non-smoker. I decided to get a second opinion.Dr. Cheung and her office were willing to see me, a new patient during these COVID times, and she gave me her time and attention, which is what I needed and felt was missing from my previous care team. Dr. Cheung spent well over an hour listening to me discuss the symptoms I experienced from February to June, and she was honest with me about what I could have - never leaving anything off of the table - but going the extra mile to ensure she was making the right diagnosis.Subsequently, I was placed on new antibiotics that worked, and then I got new scans done. Dr. Cheung also called me to check in, too, during this process! At my follow up, I was pleased to hear that the consolidation in my lower left lung shrunk significantly, and Dr. Cheung was confident to indicate that what I had been going through all of these months was because of a pneumococcal pneumonia. I am back on antibiotics (short supply) and I have my follow up with her in one month. I am relieved, ecstatic, and can finally have some peace and rest.I highly recommend Dr. Cheung! She is excellent and has an awesome team working along side her. Thank you Dr. Cheung, Sara, Amanda, and Team at Bass Medical Group for caring about me and for working my case fast during these unprecedented times.-Krystle M.
I have been seeing Dr. Cheung for respiratory issues and for sleep apnea. My case is very challenging and I feel very confident to have Dr. Cheung as my doctor. She is extremely thorough and an excellent diagnostician. She has provided excellent care. She will spend the time needed and get the necessary tests ordered. I would highly recommend Dr. Cheung. She cares about her patients.

If I could I would rate them a zero star. The front office is unprofessional and lack basic customer service skills. After calling them over 30 times I still have not received a call back. They never pick up the phone or return calls. I am waiting on having imaging done due to complications from surgery and due to their negligence I still have not had my imaging done in over 3 weeks. If more complications arise I will be holding them accountable. I have even notified the main number for Bass Medical Group and have yet to hear back from them. Heed my warning and stay clear of this office!
Extremely competent doctor with good bedside manner. Very hard to get an appointment though. I continue to see her for sleep apnea and have been very happy with my care.
Dr. Cheung is a very nice and friendly doctor, can't say that for about the office staff there. I'm starting to have serious side effects due to my sleep apnea, I called because my mask had broken over the weekend, she was not in the office on Monday, (apparently she only works a few days a week according to Vanessa). I desperately needed an appointment and was told that the next appointment was in February, this obviously would not suffice, could not even be seen by any of the other 5 doctors in the office for my situation. I strongly requested that Dr. Cheung call me on Tuesday so I can get a prescription for a new CPAP mask as I'm going to be traveling and was told she would call. She never called and when I called again and spoke with Vanessa, she stated "i gave her the message, nothing else I could do, you'll have to wait." I again explained to her the necessity and there was no sense of urgency.....I'm already experiencing serious side effects of sleep anea over the last 4 nights and will have to wait another....go find another set of pulmonologists because this office staff is useless! Patient care comes first...they should be fired!
My first visit was a bad experience. The girl who took my vitals was very unfriendly. She had a cold and wore a medical mask. Still she breathed very heavy on me and I could feel her breath across my face! It was as if she didn't give a damn that I got sick. VERY BAD for a medical office. I ask her how she was feeling and I got no reply at all. When I met with Dr. Cheung I found her to be demeaning and rude. Her first question to me was "Why do I think my doctor referred me to her?" My answer was "Possible sleep apnea." I added "But I really don't think that's my problem." She replied "I didn't ask you what YOU thought. I asked you why do you think you're doctor referred you to me?" I responded that I didn't come to see her to be put-down and as a doctor you should know better!" She apologized and asked if I wanted a different doctor? I said no. I came home and looked up her reputation up and BINGO! Too many bad reviews from patients. I believe she's a very intelligent person and very well educated BUT not a very nice person. I'm going back to my Primary and cancelling any further treatment from her office.
My CPAP mask seal tore and when I called to get a prescription for a "mask" i was denied because they stated I missed an appointment in March, this is the supposed second appointment I missed. I clearly stated that was false because I was out of town, actually out of the country for business and would not have scheduled an appointment. I asked the doctor to call me and was told that she was out of the office the entire week...funny, because the person before her said the Dr. Cheung was in the office the next day. I find it hard to believe that I have to wait 3 months to get a prescription for a mask that is desperately needed...its not like I'm asking for medication, its a simple mask! Then I find out that Dr. Cheung only works 3 days a week....I understand that doctors are busy but when they can't accommodate you in a time of need, this is a concern. I've decided to go and find a new doctor, my health is more of a concern than the staff is not helpful at all.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
