Kaiser Permanente's Online Review Report Card

Your life is at risk with this HMO. There is a common saying that if you are healthy, then Kaiser is great. Otherwise, overall medical care, particularly by the generalists, is substandard and has resulted in a number of deaths and near-deaths. Perhaps one of the most life-threatening challenges Kaiser patients can have is that “they don’t look sick.” As a result, many individuals with underlying dire conditions are summarily dismissed and disregarded by Kaiser. A few of their specialists are stellar. If you are connected, you can get access to some of their few good doctors. Otherwise, no.One of Kaiser’s public campaigns was that it provides “integrated medicine.” This is a blatant lie. All that is ever done at best, even when they are flummoxed by a case, is to refer the patient to another department. There is never a coordinated review by a group of medical personnel to try to solve a complex case.Many of the physicians rarely familiarize themselves sufficiently with the patient’s medical history and chart. Equally rare, if ever, will a true physical be performed. Too much effort for them. Instead, a battery of tests will be ordered and any semi-intelligent, non-professional person can interpret the results using the Internet.Kaiser is a great gig for doctors who don’t want to work too hard nor want accountability. If you have an opportunity, opt for Stanford, John Muir, UCSF, anywhere else where there is a semblance of a true commitment to the welfare of the patient and the Hippocratic Oath.

I am a member patient. After being stuck in elevator of main office bldg for ten minutes, I am angry. The emergency phone rings to a disconnected number. The registration desk 20 feet from elevator did not respond the first floor volunteers did not. Once a patient opened the door, the volunteers had no list of people to call for emergency. Ultimately reported to parking lot supervisor six weeks ago. Just today received call to investigate. Apparently no one was interested in fixing phone during six weeks. RECOMMenDATIon:. Avoid having a heart attack or stroke in elevator. Check phone in other elevators before entry.

I was with Walnut Creek Kaiser for almost 20 years and oh, how I miss them. They have their faults but they are not nearly as bad as the horrible private medical system, unfortunately my husband lost his job and his new job does not offer Kaiser. The private system doesn't care about me and I'm continually stressed out about how much everything costs.  John Muir wants 8k for an echocardiogram!!! Kaiser would give you every kind of test you needed!!! I also miss their many workshops and teaching seminars that cover everyDisease and condition possible. Their asthma clinic changed my daughter's life!

The Docters, Specialists, Nurses & Staff in Labor & Delivery, NICU and Mother & Baby were the most professional, experienced, amazing and caring team/staff I've ever met. I highly reccomend you tour/consider/book having your baby at Walnut Creek Kaiser! They are a level 3 hospital, which means they specialize in delivery, treatment and care for you and babies as young as 24 weeks. My baby was 6 weeks premature,  although my experience was traumatic and personal I was supported by this incredible team/staff  who all went above and beyond for my baby I. I cannot express enough the gratitude I feel for the care my baby and I received. Again, I Highly reccomend you consider/choose this hospital for your L&D.

Almost 50 years ago, I was born at this hospital. It is a weird feeling being back. My mom is currently in the hospital and they are doing a great job taking care of her. I know a lot of people hate Kaiser, but my experience has always been positive.

I don't recommend this place at all. Dr. Henderson in Nicu is the worst doctor there. Well most doctors and nurses act like they're incompetent when it comes to your baby's health. The not only misdiagnosed my baby, he almost died twice here. Run for your life! If I could give a zero I would!

Cancelled my prenatal appt 30mins prior to the appt. I took off of work then have to take off another day. They left a VM on my phone stating there was not enough time to see me??? Then left a callback # to the call center, not even to the office. Did I mention this is the 2nd time Kaiser cancels my appt on the same day as the appt. Can't wait until open enrollment!

Just got my blood results everything within normal except I can't get life insurance because I'm now morbid obesity at 400 pounds that's a 150 pounds overweight. I guess Kiasier has a new idea regarding the new word called  "normal".There medication cause extreme weight gain in my case.

ER doctors have been good. Imaging is really good in the ER. Very compassionate and I truly appreciate the woman working in there ( small woman with short blond hair I believe was very nice to me when I was in a traumatic accident ) The nursing staff can be good (there some who are just miserable but I get it but If you don't like changing patients don't be a nurse ) and the medical assistants / CNAs have always been nice to me and helped me. The issue I had was the ER doctor on morning shift wanted to send me home without pain meds with a broken bone ( I had a compression fraction in my back and they still had an issue prescribing it and didn't even speak to me. I had to beg the nurse to ask for a few to get me through the next few nights after my break. And I even had to have my mom talk to them even though I'm well above age 18.) Some of the doctors have attitudes and think they know your body more than you ( I had to beg to have a urine test done because one of the OBGYNs would NOT give me a retest and she swore I had a UTI because she thinks I was wrong when I clearly had something worse based on the basic symptoms I was having). And of course I was right when I got the retest back. The good thing about Kaiser is there's several other doctors to go to so luckily I had a great primary physician. The OB Whitney March wouldn't listen and that was a huge problem for me as I suffered for a few months. Listening to your patient should be more of a priority versus your own opinion as an OB doctor esp if it's just a pee test that they are requesting to get rechecked. The lab techs are Really great. Bottom line is you need to find good doctors here and stick with them, you have to be your own advocate. Registration has always been rude no matter how nice you are to them. Also the patients in Walnut Creek are very very entitled sometimes.

Just got in blood results everything normal, except I'm morbid obesity at 325 pound about 125 pounds overweight but how can I be normal?If this is the new normal then bad things will be happening.My kaiser Dr. Mr Fang ego will not prescribed fda approved weight loss medication.
