Maryam Amini's Online Review Report Card

AVOID Dr Amini and her office! I should have read reviews (people described exactly what I was about to experience) before I scheduled an appointment. She is unethical, rude and completely unprofessional. She does not care about your health or well being, but she will charge you through the nose for her “services” . Even for the “service” she did not provide, complete fraud. Awful experience through and through. Doctors like her should not be allowed to work with patients. AVOID!

I would love to leave 0 stars but unfortunately that is not possible. Dr. Amini seemed like a great fit when I first started in her office, after the first two visits, she pushed very hard to try and put me on her weight loss program. No matter what the issue I was having was, she always blamed my weight and tried to make me buy into her program. In addition, I had to cancel one of my appointments due to a flat tire own my way to the appointment. She got very irate with me and told me I was wasting her time. Would not recommend to anyone.

Staff is AMAZING! So nice. Dr. Amini on the other hand…. Without a doubt the worst experience I’ve had with a physician. She initially walked in and asked if I had any underlying issues I wanted to talk about… as I began to talk about one (hand has been numb for a week) she IMMEDIATELY said that this is only a wellness check and I’d have to come back and make another appointment… ok so I guess I don’t have any underlying issues to talk about? Why’d you ask that? She then looked at my past health records and had a judgmental comment about numerous things… things that every other physician I’ve met with have never addressed in the tone or way she had. Overall I felt unheard, judged, that any healthcare provider I’ve seen prior to her are basically “hacks”/don’t know what they’re doing, no drive to understand or help find a solution, didn’t have a care in the world to discuss anything other than what she saw face value. In closing…. I felt great going in and HORRIBLE… absolutely HORRIBLE about myself and my health leaving her office. I’ve never left an appointment in tears… but Dr. Amini, congratulations… you’re #1 in that category. Physicians like her are the reason people don’t go to regular check ups and risk patients leaving undiagnosed/misdiagnosed. If you want a thorough provider, DR. AMINI IS NOT the provider for you. Based on the previous reviews… shame on me.

One of the most discriminating doctor. If you have any kind of disabilities do not waste your time. You must be in perfect health and no disability to see her.

WORST DOCTOR IN HISTORY !! Do no go to her ! She is a fraud she's all about money and will charge you for stuff you didn't even do!! also I called to refill my moms prescription meds she wouldn't do it even though she knows my mom can't stop the medication just like that her reply was make appointment with me tomorrow on zoom ... I'm like what about the side affects if she doesn't drink her medication today she goes take her to the emergency room. I honestly don't know how this lady hasn't had her license revoked from her. She charged me also over 300 dollars for labs I haven't been to this ladies office for months !! What freakin labs and it went to collection I suggest to everyone be aware of this scammer also she's gonna try to sell you her weight loss pill lol which is ridiculous and sad she'd rather prescribe you meds that you don't need just to make money

Worse doctor. She’s a big fraud. She doesn’t care about her patients and only care about money. I am surprise how she still have her license.

If I can give 0 stars, I would. I usually give everyone a chance despite reviews, but this doctor is the most rude person I have ever encountered. She scheduled a follow up appointment with me after prescribing medication and running labs. It was also supposed to be a well-woman exam (which I did not know means only a Pap smear). My period ended yesterday, so when I came to the office and found out a pap smear is involved, I let the nurse know that I have some discharge still. I was told then that I need to reschedule the appointment (after already waiting for 40 minutes). I asked if the doctor will answer my questions and review the labs. Dr. Amino then came. She was very brash and in a very annoyed tone, told me that all the questions I have must be answered by specialists. I then asked her to review my labs, to which she asked if I looked them over. I said I did, but that I don't have a medical degree to assess them properly. She looked them over and rudely explained the results. I then inquired (in a very nice way) the purpose of my follow-up appointment  what else is part of the appointment if non of my questions could be answered and the test wasn't done. I told her that I wished someone would have told me that if I was having any period discharge (even a slight drop), I should reschedule the appointment. She then told me that I should have know that this appointment was all about and should have called knowing that i had just finished my period. I told her that I thought this was a follow-up to the medication she prescribed and to review my health and labs. Long story short, she stormed out of the room yelling at me that I should have rescheduled. She was sooooo rude. I'm a very nice person, sometimes too nice, but this doctor should have her medical license evaluated. No bedside manner. Don't go to her. You will waste your time.

Very dismissive doctor, did not listen to my concerns and talked on topics she knew little about

tl;dr I say this with all sincerity and honesty that Dr. Amini was the worst medical experience I’ve had, and if it was up to just her, I would’ve died. 1) She wouldn’t listen to me about side effects for a medicine she prescribed me. I had to literally reference a research paper about black people’s reactions to the medicine for her to prescribe me something new. 2) Then after this, I needed to move about 300 miles away during the pandemic, instead of continuing care via video and at the least still prescribing me the medicine I now need to stay alive while I find a new primary care doctor, Dr. Amini terminated my care and wouldn’t even give me another prescription or meet with me via video.I ended up working with her because I was rushed to John Muir with a serious condition and wanted to find a doctor within that network, so I could have some continuity in care. This was around Jan ‘20 or Feb ‘20 (before the pandemic).So my first experience with her just felt very rushed (would hardly answer questions I had), transactional, and like I was being blamed/judged for a serious hereditary medical condition (hyperaldosteronism). After having a generally bad experience with this doctor my first time in the office, I continued working with her because I wanted to stay in the network. Also, I will add when I was initially rushed to the ER, an ER doctor (who was amazing, and who I trusted) gave me a list of really good doctors in the network, but there weren’t accepting new patients--Dr. Amini was not one of those doctors.Fast forward, once I was diagnosed by a separate specialist (who was also amazing, and probably the best doctor I’ve had in terms of trust, bedside manner, and answering questions) diagnosed me with the condition I had. I was still on a medicine that was causing me side effects. I brought this up to Dr. Amini, and she insisted that it was all in my head and as a result of the condition. The medicine was causing my throat to slowly close, I had insomnia, and I heard ringing all day. I ended up having to literally show her a white paper that noted that black patients disproportionally have side effects from this medicine, and only after this would she change my prescriptions.Fast forward a couple of months (we’re in the pandemic at this point), she was trying to force me to come into her office for a follow up. I already didn’t feel comfortable with this, but I figured I would do it because I didn’t want to be without my medicine during the unrest in Oakland. I ended up having to move a few weeks before this check up. I cancelled my appointment, and asked to reschedule via video. I was also running out of the prescriptions (that was saving my life), around this time since I could only get one month at a time. I tried to get another prescription for this medicine, and she declined, saying that if I won’t meet her in her office, she cannot help me and won’t even prescribe my medicine again.I say this with all sincerity, but if it was up to Dr. Amini, I probably would’ve died, and she wouldn’t have blinked.That is the last contact I had with her. Luckily, my specialist has been continuing care with me and has been helping me find a new primary care physician and imaging center in my new location.
