List of MIchael L. Cohen's Reviews
It seemed that there were so many road blocks from when I got my referral to when I finally got my machine. Multiple calls to the sleep study place, multiple calls and emails to Dr Cohen's assistant Lawrence. Then the supply supply company said my insurance wouldn't cover the machine. I called my insurance and the actually do cover sleep apnea machines! I had to call my PMD for another referral. What a nightmare.
Dr. Cohen is extremely knowledgeable, and was very patient with me as a person having trouble with the CPAP. He explains everything clearly and I found he listens well, something that I appreciate, as that is not always the case with male doctors and female patients. He has continued to work with me to find a solution that I can tolerate.
Dr. Cohen is a joke. This man is the epitome of what is wrong with the medical system today I went to see him regarding sleep apnea/cpap issues since I just got the machine and wanted to speak with a sleep Dr. He talked a bunch, didn't listen to me, gave me advice that was counter to 3 other physicians (because he didn't listen), then told me it was "time to keep it moving" and literally kicked my mom and I out of his office. All about the $$$. This is what we took the day off and drove an hour with hopes of getting some help for?
He knows everything. He saved my life while other doctors gave me 6 month to do my work before I die. He is kind, friendly, very knowledgeable and literally best doctor that I have ever met in my life. Thanks a lot doctor Cohen and God bless you. 🌹
1- Dr. Michael Cohen is very caring doctor, and excellent at explaining sleep apnea. BUT...2- He has persisted in prescribing products made by Apria. To date Apria has completely screwed up every order I've placed with them. One man, who answered Apria's phone, had absolutely no idea what to do, but promised to take a note. No result.Apria calls periodically to make sure I have up-to-date equipment, they take my order, then - No result. This has happened 3 times. They always fail to authorize my orders with my insurance company. I placed an in late December when my CPAP failed. No result.I placed my last order yesterday, and decided to pay for it myself, rather than rely on Apria failing once again to work with my insurance company. In the meantime my blood pressure has risen since I haven't had one night's sleep since December 17 when my Apria CPAP machine failed. I've told my wife to contact a good PI attorney If I should die of a heart attack or have a stroke - and sue Apria and "does one through ten".
15 years ago my wife contracted a lung disease and Dr. Cohen treated her. After 3 weeks of his treatment she continued to get worse and was put on life support. He told me she was not going to make it.I said bs. I researched pulmololigists. I found a Dr Kops who was considered the best in Calif. He spent hours reviewing her records and he wasn't even affiliated with Kris' hospital but completed the paperwork. He met with me and said "your wife is very very sick and probably going to die....but...there is some treatments i'd like to try." I said go for it! I called Cohen's office and fired him. kops went to work. He changed some meds and make adjustments on the ventilator....daily!She started to slowly improve and 2 weeks later I carried her out of the hospital.Cohen was dumbfounded.Always get another opinion...just not Cohens..
Dr. Cohen is a really nice guy. It is hard for patients to judge the quality of care but from what I know, he is great. I got all of my questions answered and then some. The Sleep Study center across the street is a very well run, pleasant place too. I do not hesitate to recommend Dr. Cohen. R Bertolotti DDS
Dr Cohen is a very special doctor as he actually practices medicine to help people, not to enrich himself. From the first time I met him I liked him and my regard for him has grown with each subsequent visit. He is honest; he ordered a sleep study for me and after I completed it and he received the results, we met and he said all is fine and I don't need the CPAP machine. He could have prescribed some expensive treatment plan and I would not have known that it was unnecessary but he did not do that. He told me the truth and earned my total respect. His staff both in the office and in the sleep center are courteous and professional and I highly recommend Dr Cohen for any respiratory problem you mau have.
Not only have I never experienced a rude snotty behavior from any staff member at Respiratory Medical Group, I have had completely the opposite experience. While there is no excuse for anyone to be rude, I have witnessed people come into docotors offices and be quite demanding. The front desk is often in the line of fire. They have a difficult job, and in my mind Respiratory's staff does an excellent job under some difficult situations.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
