List of Gilbert F Gelfand's Reviews
Dr. Gelfand and I grew up together lol not really but he has been treating me for Rheumatoid Arteverything! Osteoporosis for 36 years. He is a Great Dr. and very knowledgeable as well. I have had 4 surgeries under his care and he worked closely with the surgeons to make sure that I had the best care. He is not the type of doctor to just throw pain meds at the situation he cares. Well I could go on about him all day but I'm not really go with words. I have been extremely blessed to have had him treat me for all these years. So people don't listen to the negative reviews. People like that probably complain about everthing! Dr. Gelfand and I grew up together lol not really but he has been treating me for Rheumatoid Arteverything! Osteoporosis for 36 years. He dismissed me and my pain after 1 course of blood test. When I asked him why was I in so much pain, he replied " I don't know". I had A. Spondylitis and I am crippled
Dr. Gelfand has treated my Lupus for over 20 yrs. He is the greatest, caring, and I would not go to anyone else. I will continue coming to Dr. until he retires.
Dr. Gelfand has been my rheumatologist for 30 years. He has taken great care of me. He also has a sense of humor, which more doctors need to have. However, when he's explaining a medical issue to you, and you have questions, you have his undivided attention.
My sister has gone to this doctor and he claims that he can’t help her. She’s in so much pain and in order for him to prescribe her meds he asked her to give him blood work which she did and still he claims he can’t help her. Though he’s a “Lupus” doctor he seems to know nothing about the symptoms and how flare ups work. My sister is in so much pain and this doctor won’t help her. If something happens to her I’m coming after you Dr. Gilbert Gelfand.
Great doctor if you want the slam truth he is a straight shooter love him Will help you but you gotta listen
I Agree with everyone on here, the staff don't have a clue about RA, Dr. Gilbert is a great Dr. But the staff is horrible, i missed appointment last year and i don't have any medicine left i left messages and they don't respond to your messages. i wonder if the Dr. even sees all of the bad reviews. i know if i spoke to him i would get my medicine. With everything that is going on in the world. The staff doesn't care about you.
Dr. Gelfand is very patient and patient with my GFriend Yvonne Rodriguez and always calls back when needed I don't know what she'll do without him...so Dr please keep Yvonne Rodriguez on her toes she listens to u...JL
This review is SOLELY for the staff at Amicus Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center in Whittier. I received my referral on Thursday 10/17/19 to see Dr. Gilbert Gelfand so I called Friday 10/18/19 at 4:30PM to schedule an appointment. I spoke to two girls— Karla and Esmeralda but not sure which one I spoke to first. I spoke with one of them who was already not helpful at the beginning of the call. Almost sounded as if I was bothering her. She told me they had not received the authorization and to call my primary care physician and tell them to resend it. No big deal. I called my primary care physician’s office, they told me they would RESEND it and that the staff at Amicus can request a copy as well from my insurance. I waited 10-15 minutes before calling Amicus again. I called at 4:55pm. They close at 5pm. I’m put on hold for a few minutes before I talk to someone. I asked to see if they received my authorization. They said no. So then I asked if they can also request a copy. The girl said “Uhhhh hold on” and put me on hold. She comes back and says, “I’ll follow up with you on Monday.” I asked her again if they can request the copy and she said she will call me back on Monday because there was nothing they can do at this time. She said it was 5pm and she was clocked out. So she clocked out while I was on hold! And on top of that, she began arguing with me that I called two minutes before they closed. I asked her, so because it’s 5pm and you clocked out, you won’t help me. She said yes and she would call back. She threw it in my face that they wouldn’t schedule me until December anyway. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was upset. I work in customer service and all I heard were excuses. This is my HEALTH and they do not seem to care or want to make an effort to help. We finally hung up. On Monday 10/21/19 (today) I received a missed call from them and I called back on my lunch. I’m put on hold a few times before I talk to Laura. Laura advises me that they cannot help me and to call my doctor to get a referral for another doctor. I asked for the reason why and she laughed a little then said they made a note that I was unfriendly. I told her, “I don’t know what they made a note of but I can tell you that you guys provide HORRIBLE customer service. They clocked out while I was on hold. I only had ONE QUESTION that they couldn’t answer.” Laura said she didn’t want to argue with me and make me feel worse about their office. I told her, “It’s too late for that. I felt worse as soon as you said you won’t help me.” SHE THEN SAYS SHE WAS TOLD BY THE PHYSICIANS IN THE OFFICE THAT THEY CANNOT SEE ME. When I asked for the name of the physicians, that’s when she got defensive and refused to give me the names. I told her I would write a Yelp review and report it to my medical group but I wanted the name of the physicians who said they won’t see me. She refused and told me to call my medical group and have my medical group call them. She said she gave me all the information and she had to go. I told her not to hang up because I wanted the name of the physician(s). Laura hung up on me. DO NOT GO HERE! They severely lack EMPATHY. They kept cutting me off while I was talking. No regard for patient care. This review is SOLELY for the staff at Amicus Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center in Whittier. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
