List of Howard K Elkin's Reviews
I saw Dr elkin for years. He was an OK doctor but for him it was about Financials over patient care. I finally had enough of his arrogance with not only patients but staff as well. Not sure if its the test or botox but something is definitely going on with him, hopefully this will change for the better
I came in for a visit, The front desk clerk / manager is very unprofessional. She doesn't know how to pick and choose her words wisely. When getting my lab results back, she tossed them to meover the counter instead of handing them to me. If there was a zero star option, they would definitely get that.
Dr. Elkin is a highly intelligent cutting edge cardiologist who is definitely ahead of his time! He is also very personable and compassionate which goes a long way to help me feel comfortable. Most importantly, he takes his time with me and I never feel rushed like we so often feel with other physicians, and his standard of care is first rate!
Dr. Elkins failed to check my Mother if she had Afib. She had high blood pressure for thirty years and was his patient for over a decade. He gave her a good report on her physical checkup on a Tuesday and on Friday she had a severe and complicated stroke that left her permanently disabled and she would need 24hr. care for the remainder of her life. The ICU Unit immediately saw the Afib readout on the EKG.
Highly recommend Dr Howard. I finally found a doctor who is looking after my medical needs.
Dr.. Howard Elkin is not only particularly knowledgeable but has the best bedside manner a patient could desire. He is always upbeat, fully present - he REALLY listens so that the patient feels heard - and attempts to address the signs and symptoms in the least aggressive way. In addition, he is very empathetic and is a patient's advocate; he steps up to suggest other practitioners the patient might want to have on her team so as to experience a full recovery. As if this were not enough, he stays current with new trends in medicine and has the latest medical information at his fingertips. No wonder so many travel long distances to see him!

Dr. Elkin is an exceptional physician, highly compassionate and caring. He is wonderful and I have nothing but high regard for him. However, this review and rating is explicitly based on the front desk and particularly Mary, the office manager. As well as Angel at the front desk. Dealing with Mary, over the phone, during a difficult time while recovering from heart failure and mitral valve issues has been fraught with rude, unhelpful and extremely unpleasant and stressful interactions. From suddenly canceling a scheduled appointment due to Dr. Elkin being called into surgery, which is totally understandable, but then refusing to accommodate me by placing me back on the schedule and only offering me an appointment 4 weeks out--in the midst of heart failure and pericarditis recovery! Then informing me that "maybe you should find another cardiologist" when she offered a 5 pm Friday appt, when I coming in from over 30 miles away, and my original appointment was at 10 am! This is one of several negative and stressful interactions with this front desk. Including her refusal to have the doctor call in a blood pressure medication refill to my pharmacy, that I needed for a month long trip overseas, claiming I had not seen the Dr. Elkin in a year when in fact I had seen him 5 months before. And being unhelpful, argumentative and mercurial, before hanging up on me, mid-sentence. It is appalling that an office manager at a cardiology practice is this unprofessional and unpleasant. Heaven help the patient who is dependent on this power-tripping front office for access to their cardiovascular care and physician. In fact, dealing with Mary was so stressful and unsettling , that I skipped a necessary echocardiogram to avoid dealing with her over the phone, much less in person! Once again, Fantastic doctor, shameful office manager and front desk. It pains me to write this, as I think the world of Dr. Elkin, but, beware!
Had a great experience with Dr. Elkin - so glad I found him. I highly recommend him and his staff.
I have been a patient of Dr. Elkin for over 20 years. The bad part is I met him in the ER after a heart attack. The good news he and his staff have done nothing but take great care of me over the years since that night. Through surgeries he has completed, testing he has done, referrals he gave me, the time he spends with me to consider my life and goals and he is always up to date on the latest health, meds, and testing. Thanks.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
