Worst experience with a dr. I ever had. Rude and condescending and unwilling to research my history . I wouldn't let him ever touch me. Very unprofessional as well.

Do not go here, you WILL regret it. I'm spending my time to inform you so you don't make the same mistake I did. I'm 32, and I now have more gastro issues than I did prior to seeking help from this "surgeon" 1) Surgery was a complete failure after 6 months. Heartburn and Hernia returned. Developed a new swallowing issue where I now inhale my food and liquids every time I eat or drink. 2) Terrible bedside manner - Joked about someone dying on his table with his office staff in front of patients. On the day of my surgery he came up to me and said "Don't worry, I got my warm up in". It seems you are not a person to him and he does not care. 3) Refuses to talk to you post op. Immediately began having problems and his nurse Mary redirected me to a regular gastro to discuss next steps after the failed surgery because Dr. Essien is too important and can only complete new surgeries. 4) Terrible reviews - Go read them. You will see "Butcher" and "Assembly line surgeon". Seems he is exactly that or worse in my opinion 5) Other than Jayleen who is amazing, the rest of the staff leaves a lot to be desired relative to bedside manner, patient care and availability 6) Told me I needed surgery after a single 10 minute appointment. Claimed I should have had the surgery 20 years ago and his 13 year old daughter just had a Nissen 7) One of my scars healed terribly and will be on my body forever, but again, he does not care about you as a person. You're just another number This was my experience and I wish every day that I could go back and make a better decision. You've been warned, but the choice is yours.

I really don't have anything bad to say in regard to Dr Francis e s s e i n he performed my surgery on November 29th gastric sleeve I came home November 30th the thing that bothers me the most is that no one from his office even call to see if I'm okay to see how I'm holding fluids to see if I had a bowel movement or anything like that I reached out to one of the workers via email because I had her email because she was sending me Zoom links for classes I was stunned when I received her email back stating that they typically do not check on their patients after surgery even the dentist office checks on patients when they pull a tooth so how can you not call your patience after you cut something out of their body and rearrange something inside of their body that just doesn't make any damn sense to me so for that reason in particular I give his office a thumbs down Dr Francis was not rude to me anyway during or before the surgery I should say some people stated that he's rude and arrogant I don't get there from him at all he actually cares about your well-being that's why he may talk so Stern in regard to the operation that he feel as though you should have I'm healing pretty well actually for 5 days and again I really don't have anything to say bad about my surgeon the practices of the office though I believe that it needs some improvement you need to check on your patience

He is absolutely HORRIBLE. He won’t let you speak. He doesn’t read through your chart to have all of the information and labels you without knowing your history. He says your other doctors don’t know what they are doing. I’m alive because of those doctors. He tried to school me on an illness that I have and he had ZERO idea what he was talking about. Don’t go to him.

Dr. Essien is very rude and condescending. I was referred to him by my PCP to remove my daughter's gallbladder. Long story short, her PCP retired by the time we were able to get in to see Dr. Essaien had the audacity to lie to me and then argue that he had spoken to our referring Dr. that morning. He was quite arrogant and disrespectful, to say the least. He will NOT be seeing my daughter again and there is absolutely no way in Hell, that I would allow him near her with a scalpel. Very rude!!!

I am so happy I was referred to Dr. Essian when I started my weight loss journey. I went to his office weighing over 350 pounds thinking nothing and nobody could help me. His staff is friendly and helpful. Mfon is a joy to be around and got me started with all the nutrition classes and support groups and appointments I would need. Then I logged on to the support group led by Matina and I was so excited and hopeful that this might work. Matina takes care of our Facebook support group and zoom meetings. She is so knowledgeable and supportive and always there for us. My weight started dropping off just by following her and the nutritionalist advice. I lost 80 pounds BEFORE surgery! The surgery went well and I had minimal pain and a smooth recovery. Any question I had the office and Matina was there for me. It has been 8 months since my surgery and I have lost 136 pounds and am still consistently losing. I have heard of other people's programs they have gone through and none of them are as informed and supported as those of us who have been through Dr. E's program , I thank God for them all and HIGHLY recommend them, it will change your life for the BETTER!!

I am forever grateful for Dr. Essien and his incredible team. In 2020, my PCP referred me to his office for bariatric surgery. I didn't know nearly enough about it and was a basket of nerves during my consultation. Dr. Essien did an incredible job at making me feel comfortable, safe, answered all my questions and addressed my needs. I love the fact that even with providing me with so much helpful resources and tools he also invited me to an informational Seminar that he himself instructed. Who doesn't love a surgeon actively involved with his patients? I sure do! Fast forward to were I am today. I am 150 pounds down and no longer surviving but thriving. Thank you for your continued support and resources even after being almost two years post op. There are no words to describe my gratitude!
