A great Dr - very thorough and never makes you feel rushed. I highly recommend
A measure of any medical practice is the administrative/front office support. Although I cannot point to the quality of the physicians I can point to the poor communications of the front office of the Berkeley Golden State Dermatology office. I came to my appt today after a reminder and my response to the reminder was yes, expecting to have my appt. Instead I was told I needed prior authorization which was never communicated to me. In fact, they have a unique policy for Tricare West to require prior authorizations even though Tricare West does not require it, and they do not require it of any other PPO. But above and beyond was the unhelpful and passive approach of the front staff who instead of providing more information, or inquiring to Tricare West- had nothing to say. Golden State Dermatology might spend some more resources for their front office training/management. For now, I'll choose to go to another dermatology office that can provide the support for my visit.
I have always received excellent care here at the Berkeley office from all staff and PA Chodsky. It is easy to get an appointment within a few days. I highly recommend this practice.
The first dr I saw didn't believe in the pandemic. The second dr I saw could barely bother talking to me, froze off a bump, and then forgot to send the prescription to the pharmacy.I will seek another practice in the future.
Very smart but Dr.Jeon wouldn’t see me after arriving 12 minutes late. But hey that’s ok bc Dr. Jeon was out for a full week and while he was gone the tech rescheduled my appt 3 weeks later(today except I arrived 12 min late and wasn’t seen). Also, my attempts to get a refilll were delayed by 9 days for many reasons. Thirdly Dr. Jeon had an assistant cavalierly call me to respond to a message I left for him by way of the patient portal. She acted like I was an idiot when who knows more abt this ongoing painful condition than me? I am finished with this practice after this number of issues. I feel completely out of energy. It shouldn’t take this much work to get a doctor’s expertise.
I think GSD did a fine job. The only constructive criticism I would offer is to leave time for a patient/surgeon consult prior to surgery.
rmacy supposed to call me and then send Miravaso. All in all, not a satisfactory system. Totally liked Dr Jun, and will be back!
I haven't seen this provider, but did try to make an intake appointment, and ultimately failed and gave up. After filling out the request in their online appointment system, I got a notice that I'd have to call to actually set a time. The result was a bizarre 25-minute call with lots of long holds and non-sequiturs before I could find out their availability, and even then it was hard to get a clear answer. This is probably my first time giving up during a medical booking process.
Be sure to check yelp reviews before making an appointment here. I had a very negative experience which could have been resolved easily if they took the time to do so. I made an appointment specifically for milia removal and they made the appointment with a doctor who doesn't do removal. After waiting 45 minutes and then seeing him, he told me to make another appointment with the PA who does do removal, which would be fine except I just paid a $65 copay. I asked the doctor for a refund and was told to contact the front desk (the doctor was rude and unhelpful, also suggesting that I get a chemical peel which wasn't anywhere on my radar and definitely not something I need). I subsequently contacted the front desk numerous times, and never received the refund. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it gives you a sense of how you might be treated at this office.
