Dr is fine. But the billing department is crazy. I have sent my payment of the bill. But they keep sending me statement saying it is due, and thetening me to send it to collection agency. I call the billing department and the lady won't even listen to me, and she hang up on me.

If you want to avoid unnecessary stress caused by someone's sloppy handling of billing, I would suggest stay away from this place.
Absolutely worst place! The doctor was ok but the billing department and front office staff had no clue about what to collect! Sent me my outstanding statement and when I called to pay the outstanding, they told me another amount! What a shithole, ripoff place. Stay away! you will end up paying a lot for each treatment.
The doctor misdiagnosed the skin condition I have as something chronic and in the follow up appointment the nurse(sherry) is trying to recommend me a laser procedure. The nurses are absolutely rude and unprofessional , stay away from this place.
Unfortunately I have been on the phone for over 20 minutes and then I was disconnected and I was put at the back of the line. I explained to the person that somehow I was dropped but it didn't matter. Still waiting?
This is very dishonest. I went to Dr Dhawan for toe nail issue. I thought it's fungus but he said it's nail psoriasis/dermatitis. Then he asked nurse to contact nail for no apparent reason neither lab nor checking underneath. Then got a bill later for dr visit and surgery codes , If Iam paying deductible it will be out of my pocket right ? More than 250$ for simple visit . You guys can decide now.
Dr Dhawan is the best!
What people are complaining about is the office he works in!
I have been going to this particular office for a very long time!
I understand the issues that need to improve!
However there isn't a Dr. who is more caring,
More hardworking, more professional, more willing
To help and experiment with different ways to improve your health than Dr. Dhawan!
Thanks so much Dr Dhawan for being tops in your field!!!
Dr Dhawan doesn't seem to really care for his patients. I came in to treat a scar and he demands a whole panel of unnecessary treatments. He never asked about previous treatments or any historical context. I told him the medication didn't work for me and he didn't bother to ask why he just decides I needed the extra strength instead. Then he says I need to come back every three weeks for the rest of the year. Finally he looks at the scar and applies an acid, says to wipe it off in thirty minutes. Then you're recommended to buy various creams or whatever from the front desk on your way out.

The office never followed up usually you get a call back when a medical professional cares about how a patient responds to their treatment. Most doctors want to know about any adverse reactions and will have reception give you a call. The medication is not working and after getting steamrolled in my first appointment, I'd rather find another practice.
Run away from this con artist. Can't even do a real diagnosis properly.
Dr Dahwan
Is a doctor that listens and cares. He's always taken care of the issues and has patience when it takes a little longer to solve.

He is a doctor that respects his patients
Dr. Dhawan is great if you can actually get through his staff.

So if you're keeping score, give the doctor himself 5 starts because this review is purely devoted to my experience with his "customer service" staff.

Holy Jesus is the help incompetent. In the last three days they've managed to:

* Receive an email from me and not follow up in any way
* Not return my call for status or tell me if something was missing in the email
* When I called to get status tell me they never received my email (which they did)
* Tell me no one was able to access the Center's email because that singular person was out of the office
* Tell me they'd look into it and call me back and not
* When I called back yet again to get status, tell me that the email was received, but nothing had been done with it

Throughout this process they continually told me to book an appointment,
When I finally did relent because they were wasting so much of my time it was then they disclosed him being booked solid for 45 months. Are you kidding me!?!?!?!

Needless to say, I'm now in the market for a new doctor to see.
Dr Dhawan himself is a good and concerned doctor.
My complaint is with the assistant Shirley. He scheduled me with a follow up after starting a new medicine with her. I trusted that she must be capable for the job. I went a week early for my six week follow up since the new medication was causing me terrible painful cystic breakout. When I contacted the center they advised I should come soon n see her so she can modify my medications . I rushed the same day and told her all about it. She didn't bother to even take a close look at my skin n just shrugged off saying my skin will purge for 3 to 4 months n it's normal.( exactly like the answers I found on google( not true) )
Also she kept rolling her eyes at me wen I tried to show my concern.i told her 4 weeks were okay but the last week all the breakouts happened n she is like no medicine works in 4 weeks n all.
So I continued with those medications for another 6 weeks till my next appointment hoping to see positive results FOLLOWING her advice. I wanted to treat like 2 to 4 scars on my cheek n here I was with around 10 new scars from those breakouts. After all that wen I didn't see things getting better after 3 to 4 months n contacted dr. Dhawan , he told me a new medication will cause any purging for 4 weeks ( beyond that it means it's not working.)
He did change my medications n finally after that I saw improvement ( but have to deal with many new scars )
So if they give you a follow up with Doctors assistant ( mine was Shirley) please cancel it.
She charged exactly the same fees as an appointment with the doctor himself . ( Not worth it even if the assistant charges lesser than doctor , which should be the case)
Dr Dhawan is an excellent dermatologist. He has a good chair side manner and is very efficient with his time. He seems to be very knowledgeable and keeps up with the latest treatments. Even though I have an excellent dermatologist at Kaiser, I still see Dr Dhawan also because I have so much trust in him. Thanks Dr Dhawan for taking such good care of me!
Dr. Dhawan is the best. He listens to me and apologizes for each painful scalp shot, which each visit were a few. My boyfriend happened to come with me and he took one look at his head and diagnosed him. We're both done with treatments. This doctor is smart, quick and efficient. The office staff is great as well.
Still the best dermatologist out there. Well, now it's been 15 years since I started going to Dr. Dhawan. He is still an excellent doctor and still conservative in his treatmentshe does not use his patients like Guinea pigs and recommends treatments that don't have any severe or lasting side effects. I recently did 4 rounds of Candela laser for facial redness. My skin tone is more uniform now. There was no discomfort.

On a side note, in 2014, I injured my index finger in an accident. An ER surgeon put stitches on it. I did not dare going back to the ER. I requested one of Dr. Dhawan's staff to gently remove them for me. They were quick and it was minimally painful.
I have to agree with Randy S. in Fremont. My experience happened a long time ago but I still have an ugly scar on my nose to remind me of this jerk who calls himself a doctor. After freezing an actinic keratosis (skin damage caused by the sun) one time, he decided it was cancer and insisted on a biopsy. I was against it but he blew up, saying something like, "How dare you challenge my authority!" He promised that the scar would be small. I gave in, like a fool and the biopsy was negative. Now I have an ugly red scar that will never go away and is barely concealed by make up. Thanks so much for this valuable lesson in dealing with bullies. If I could give him less than a 1star, I would.
It's more like a shop rather then a doctor office
They give you a price option for all treatments
I will never go again here it's waist of money
For some of us who have sensitive skin and adhere to less is more philosphy he is the perfect doctor. I am one of those who is always dogged with skin issues and having a dermatologist who is gentle and effective is what is required, I don't ever feel rushed during his appointments as i like to talk to him about the latest advances in skin care i might have read up on and get his opinion. Never ever felt pressured to buy anything from the office which is so unlike another a LA dermatologist i went to ..
He does book up in advance, but given my 'sometimes' erratic work schedule, the office has been great about getting me in at the last minute.
Office is moved to suite 25! (Second floor)
Dr.Dwahan is the best dermatologist I've ever seen and I've seen about 4 in the past 4 years. You can tell that he has a lot of experience and knowledgeable by how quickly he answers your questions and the way he consults. The staff here is also great!
Awesome doctor. I usually see the PA, Amanda Lapointe, but Dr. Dhawan does the surgeries. In a three month period, he removed two aggressive basal cell carcinomas, one from my leg, and one from my cheek. Procedures went smooth and can not even see where it was removed from cheek.
Now that I know that Dr. Dhawan has his own separate listing, I want to be sure to write a review of him specifically..

Last October, I saw Dr. Sunil Dhawan to have some skin growths evaluated and removed. I was surprised at his flippant and unprofessional attitude. I'd had the same type of growths removed several years ago and know that most of what I have right now are seborrheic keratosis. Dr. Dhawan said, "oh, those are just warts." He seemed to be uninterested in doing anything about them and only grudgingly sprayed two with liquid nitrogen after I asked him to. I had to specifically ask him again to get him to spray a third one. He spent a very short time with me.

He's also more than a little strange.

I noticed that the liquid nitrogen he sprayed made no visible difference. I've had liquid nitrogen treatments in the past but I noticed that the areas he sprayed didn't even turn red, which would have been the minimum visual difference. Liquid nitrogen is, of course, killing cells via freezing and it's expected that the area sprayed will turn red and swollen. I've wondered if the container Dr. Dhawan used was empty of liquid nitrogen and had only the propellant in it. Seeing him was a waste of my time and money.

Definitely NOT recommended.

Note that other reviews of Dr. Sunil Dhawan are contained within the reviews for two listings that are the same business, all located at 2557 Mowry Avenue in Fremont, CA::
East Bay Dermatology Group
Center For Dermatology Cosmetic and Laser Surgery
