Been a patient of Mayle’s for 2.5 years. Had a hip replacement w/him in 2017. Now in dire need of knee replacement and in a lot of pain! I’ve had a lot of medical traumas in my life, none of them my fault (e.g. given wrong IV in hospital; given another patiient’s surgery, and the list goes on) so I am more prone to medical anxiety than your average patient. Was due to have surgery with Mayle the day before his vacation, but felt very uneasy with his new PA, who has no facial expression (couldn’t tell if she was listening to my concerns or not). This made me feel increasingly uncomfortable as she was to be in charge of my medical care while he was on vacation. On top of this, I have experienced a myriad of communication issues w/his office such as never receiving return calls, etc. Even my PCP can attest to this! I emailed him to express my concerns, only to be told in so many words that I should find another surgeon. I emailed him back expressing apologies for any misunderstanding and never received a reply. Lack of response in either the form of quick phone conversation or brief letter resulted in medical abandonment (and the worst medical trauma I’ve experienced to date). No legal merit whatsoever for such abandonment! I’ve never been refused medical treatment ever! What a suckerpunch this has been! Be very careful with Mayle as he will come across as your best friend, but he has revealed himself to be quite callous and unprofessional. A direct and honest, but brief, conversation would have made a world of difference but he was too uncaring to bother.
Brilliant surgeon and a real people person. Highly recommend
He is the top in his field, really cares about my well being and is extremely dedicated. And, a really nice man.
