Dr Krompier has been treating me for approximately five years now. I think he is great. So great that I was forced to go to Kaiser (because of the cost of my health care previously)with that said I've chosen to keep him as my doctor and I pay out of pocket to see him. That's how much I like him as a doctor. He shows genuine concern and sincerity when I come to him with issues or concerns I have. He carefully has helped me with my meds and listened if one didn't work for me for different reasons.. He's even refilled meds for me while he was out of state on vacation and I called frantically trying to get my meds. His assistant Kay is polite and attentive to your needs whether it be scheduling an appt or getting a message to Dr. K. I almost always receive a call back within two hours after leaving a message. I can see where some might say he comes off as dry but he keeps it very professional with me and I appreciate that. He's never been rude or condescending to me ever. He's very matter of fact at my appts. But that's what I need. He follows up with what was discussed at last appointment and manages my prescriptions. Since I'm being open here, he does tell me things I don't want to hear but that's because I don't want to be held accountable for not doing what I could/would/should do to help my condition. I highly recommend him and appreciate the treatment I've received the last five or so years.
The best doctor in my experience as a patient for 23 yrs. Always considerate, responsive, available and willing to explain things.
Would give him 0 stars if possible. He is the worst kind of practitioner. I went to see him about 20 years ago, when yelp didn't exist. Wish it had. But now that I see he is still out there I feel obligated to warn. I suffered postpartum depression and was prescribed meds which saved me. But with such meds one is required to be under physician care, thus I was sent to Dr. K. At the initial and only meeting, he started by inquiring about my childhood. I had an absolutely wonderful childhood, not without normal bumps along the way, but the kind of experience I wished for my own kids. He refused to believe me and said "No one has such an idyllic childhood" and that I must be repressing some traumatic experience(s). He refused to believe it was postpartum and wanted to keep pushing until I actually believed something horrific had happened to me. This is the kind of stuff you read about, planting false memories and ruining people's lives. I regret not having reported him at the time. You have been warned.
Best doctor Ive had in 23 yrs of depression treatment. Always responsive, available, considerate of my feelings and willing to explain things. Couldnt ask for a better psychiatrist.
Dr. Krompier is cold, seems to be annoyed, and has absolutely no empathy. Seeing him made me feel even worse! I can't imagine why he ever went into a field that requires one to have human emotions.
Dr. Krompier is a very intelligent and experienced MD. Dr. Krompier has been effectively prescribing and managing a few of my medications since 2008. He was able to quickly rule out a few diagnoses I never considered after a few appointments and some tests. Dr. Krompier is part of a team of specialists for my complex disease/s. He is calm, reliable and has clear boundaries and policies. His assistant Kay is very personable. Dr. Krompier does accept credit cards now ( vs the past review stating he did not). Dr. Krompier is a physician. An MD. He diagnoses, treats, prescribes, manages the meds he prescribed, etc. Dr. Krompier is not a therapist or counselor. He ll refer you to therapy/ support groups if he determines this will help you.
This must be the worst "Dr of psychiatry" I've ever met or dealt with. Why he got into a field to help
People I'll never know. He's mean and in spite of opening up to him and being completely honest when he
was required to actually help me
Get through a situation that didn't fall under his exact set of rules & time restrictions he turned on me in the worst way.
I don't think this guy should
Be working in a field where people aren't at their best when coming to him, he certainly
Has no empathy or sympathy whatsoever. I encourage you to continue your search for a Dr that has compassion and understanding, because This guy has zero.
In my experience Dr. Krompier has alway been a very responsive and responsible doctor. All of my phone calls to his office have been promptly responded to. My questions have been answered in a clear manner and if needed with additional questions or evaluations. Yes Dr. Krompier does have a cancellation policy that he honors, so take note of this. I have never had him cancel on my appointments with him last minute or gone there and found him not there.
When needed he has worked with other professional to ensure I received proper care or needed paperwork to be completed.
My experience with Dr. Krompier has been that he is focused, attentive and resourceful. With the care of other necessary specialist I have improved while continuing with Dr. Krompier.
Just kidding, I have no passion because he has not been able to help me with my worsening depression over the past 8 years. I do hate him, though.
PRO They return calls which is better than others I've seeked out.
CON Seems like he's always on vacation. He asked if I could change my appt to earlier to accomodate him so he can leave early. When I we was 5 minutes late he literally rolled his eyes.
CON Lacks bed side manner. He handles my son with some tenderness but I always felt like he was demeaning to my husband and I.
CON Charged me $60 for cancelling. Yikes. I expected $25 for the first time offense, but $60? I'll pay it, but I won't be recommending this guy to any of my crazy friends.
My husband had an amazing doctor we saw for his bipolar and when he retired he gave us a recommendation for Krompier so we expected them to be similar in how they practiced. But we were wrong. I don't think he is a bad or incompetent doctor, but he isn't every friendly either. Krompier didn't ask many probing questions. Just 2 or 3 basic generic ones. And when I asked questions, voiced concerns or ask for clarification I got short clinical responses. Since I wasn't the patient I guess he didn't like me being so involved. (despite the fact that I explained the situation, and was very quite, respectful, and was non interrupting during my husbands session) He was knowledgeable but wasn't ever good at answering questions in a way that was understandable or satisfactory to me.
I am a patient of Dr. Andrew Krompier. Dr. Krompier is a skilled and caring physician. His practice is enhanced by his assistant, Kay. I have a dymanic work schedule and, on multiple occasions, Kay has performed minor miracles to accommodate my schedule. My overall experience with Dr. Krompier and Kay has been quite positive.
I am almost astounded at some of the positive remarks patients have given him; which is the only reason Im taking the time to write on here, myself.Ive been his patient for about 7 years now, hes misdiagnosed me at least 3 times based on what my father sees, and never bothered to give me a test before he readily prescribed me medications. He asks me why certain meds didnt work because he failed to write them down, to this day, he tries to prescribe me the same antidepressant that I almost committed suicide on at 16.Hes either really slow/has a horrible memory or doesnt even try to hide that hes only doing his job for the money. Never have I felt like he genuinely cares. He doesnt he even flinch to ask me if I want my father in the room during our sessions, he expects him to be in there. And Im a 21 year old woman. Ive been going there for 7 years and he knows me as much as someone Ive known for a day. I still dont understand how he gets all these compliments; maybe he just doesnt like me.
Has helped me immensely with depression and ADHD. Every time I go he is extremely nice and caring, and hes mixed up an effective combo of meds. I tried three other docs around the east bay, and he is the best.
Dr. Krompier is very professional. He is respectful and understanding of each individual's issues. He is usually very prompt and open when scheduling in advance. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to all of the medications and combinations. The only negative about his practice is the lady who answers his phone calls. She has left me in tears a number of times when I tried to reschedule an appointment. She is very rude and acts like she is doing me a huge favor whenever I have to talk to her. Considering the clientele, you would think she would be a bit more sensitive toward his patients. He is great and I wish he would hire someone very nice to help him in the office.
Dr. Krompier is very skilled at what he does. I no longer see him because he is a bit far away for me and he doesn't take credit cards. I've luckily been able to find someone close to me who does take credit cards but I still miss Dr. Krompier. When my current doctor found out I was no longer seeing Dr. Krompier she was very surprised seems like every doctor around here knows (of) and respects him.

He has never overmedicated me, he is not one of those doctors who is quick to pull out the pharm pad and he's also not one of those doctors who assumes everyone is out to score some drugs.

I went to Dr. Krompier for medication management, and he put me on a cocktail that (along with counseling) has really helped to improve my life. I've struggled for over half of my life, I wish I had found him sooner.

I was antimedication because of a bad reaction years earlier, and he worked with me and all of my questions and doubt. I'm also a case that scares a lot of doctors away because of the complexity... it didn't scare him at all.
Dr. Krompier is an excellent physician. He is very professional, his expertise in psychiatry is remarkable. As a patient I feel that Dr. Krompier has helped me to manage some of the issues that are relevant of stress, and not easy to manage. I found this physician in the yahoo search, and I am quite pleased.I personally do not use my insurance coverage, I am a cash patient.Dr. Krompier is very kind, it is rare to find the good side of humanity in doctors, but he is caring, and if you need his support, he is just a phone call away. His office is very comfortable, and the appointments are on time, there are never delays. The privacy setting is magnifique. Dr. Krompier uses other therapies besides medication. My most sincere respects for Dr. Krompier. Dr. Krompier never makes me feel crazy.
I do not understand the prior comment that his methods are outdated. I have seen him for almost a year, and he has worked with me wonderfully....
His methods are outdated. He only accepts cash or checks. He doesnt seem to listen when you talk to him. He never answers his phone. He doesnt return calls. He charges $50.00 for a missed appointment no questions asked. He sends you to collections if you dont put money under his door on time. The worst doctor I have ever seen.
