Unbelievable bedside manner and great surgeon. Took great care of my mom.

He is treating my 95 year old mother. He is so kind and has taken path of treatment that is very thorough. Very impressive Doctor and his staff is top flight.

I had chronic recurring appendicitis and looked at reviews for surgeons ultimately choosing Dr Beckley. I am so glad I did! He is extremely intelligent as well as caring enough to walk me through my MRI and answer a question on email. He performed the surgery and everything went perfectly. Stop looking this man knows what he is doing. He was the only surgeon of the few I went to that actually showed me my MRI results and saw that my appendix had a growth of sorts (mucocele). No one else saw that. He is patient, very humble and friendly.

He is by far the best doctor and surgeon I’ve ever had the opportunity to meet. He is such a blessing. He is so knowledgeable. He takes his time and explains everything. He listens. You are actually heard with him. He values you. And he is AMAZING with children. Thank you Dr. Beckley.

I was looking for a doctor for a minor surgical procedure--if you are also looking for a general surgeon to perform minor surgery, who is recommended by their peers; who is competent and has performed your particular issue before; who listens well; who is compassionate and doesn't make you feel rushed or that they don't really have time to diagnose your problem; who has a wonderful sense of humor; who makes you feel comfortable throughout the procedure; who has a lovely staff--then Akin Beckley is for you. He is terrific.

Dr. Beckley is a phenomenal surgeon and a genuinely compassionate human being. My daughter, who is a new freshman at CU, went to the ER in signicant abdomimal pain, which was eventually diagnosed as appendicitis. She needed surgery that day. We are from out of state and I was beyond anxious and felt completely helpless hearing this news and knowing my daughter was suffering, but I was so far away. Dr. Beckley got on the phone and calmly and patiently explained the surgery. I immediately hopped on a plane to Colorado. By the time I landed I had a voicemail from Dr. Beckley himself (not a nurse or a member of the hospital staff) that her surgery was over and she was safe in recovery. I was lucky enough to meet him the next morning during his morning rounds when he checked on my daughter. He examined her, took his time and sat down with us to thoroughly go over follow up care and make sure we understood everything (something, in my experience, that is done by the nursing staff). My daughter has never had surgery before and she later expressed to me that she felt extreme anxiety about having surgery without a parent present. She said that Dr.Beckley's calm, confident, friendly, kind demeanor eased her mind and she knew she was in good hands. There is not enough room here to express my gratitude for Dr. Beckley and his team for taking care of my baby girl and making her feel safe until I could get to her. The quality of care he provides is superb A+++! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

As an employee at BCH and a nurse, I have a 'bird's eye' view of surgeons and their work. I chose Akin Beckley for my surgical experience because I knew, first hand, how well his patients do post operatively. He has a great partner for any back-up needs. Having confidence in your provider and their team is key in recovery. I have that whole-heartedly for Dr. Beckley.
