List of Boulder Neurosurgical & Spine Associates's Reviews
Dr A. Villavicencio is not only in our opinion the finest neurosurgeon but is surrounded by the most engaged and caring medical team. My wife with her glioblastoma cancer has had three surgeries with Dr V and his team. There are not enough stars on this app to show how thankful we are for the medical excellence and care.
I saw 2 other local neurologists who said the pain from my neck to my fingertips, headaches, and tingling was normal. Dr V and Eric fought my insurance to prove otherwise. They preformed surgery on my neck c-5/c-6 and I immediately had no pain at all. I went from being completely miserable from pain everyday for a year to absolutely no pain at all. I can’t thank them enough for what they did for me and my life!!! Much love and blessings to them.
Boulder Neurosurgery at BCH is fantastic!! Wonderful staff and physicians
Thanks for not letting me die during surgery. Sorry, but the trust is gone.
I saw Dr V. I had faxed a with the reason for the consult, along with notes from previous doctor visits. I had also had 3 MRIs done. I waited in the room for a long time, his assistant tried to do a neurological exam but stopped after 5 minutes when I began to have tremors. She left, Dr V walked in with her. It was obvious he had not looked at anything I had sent. (I had just checked at reception desk to be sure they had received all records.) He began to look at the first MRI and started yelling, becoming irate. He said, "There's nothing to do here, who did this?" I stood up and said I was leaving. He regained his composure and saw there were other MRIs he had not seen. Because of my age, he assumed I had Parkinson's and started to refer me. I don't have it, which he would have known had he looked at my records. I spent every waking moment for a week filling out online forms, faxing reports, and making sure their office received MRI discs. Then their office greeted me with 8 pages of forms to fill out. I don't have to sit there and take a doctor throwing a fit in front of me, no matter what credentials he has. It was abusive. To treat a patient with severe neurological deficits that way is inexcusable. I will be going to the University of Colorado. At the medical school, the doctors will have a professional attitude. Dr V came highly recommended. I was disappointed. I had traveled 400 miles round trip to see Dr V for 5 minutes. A complete waste of time, energy, and money.
Dr Rajpal crippled me. He accidentally broke my spinal cord new years eve. Walked in it was the last time I walked. I would avoid this place at all cost.
Dr. Alan Villavicencio treated me with the kindness and respect you would expect from a neurosurgeon, orthopedic specialist, or 8th grade bully. He was dismissive on the way in the door; he continued through the very short appointment to behave rudely, dismissively, and with such arrogance that he is surely a contender for this year's scourge-of-the-industry award for Neurosurgery. I'm crossing my fingers for you, Dr. V. The PA.s at BNSA are fantastic. That is where the two stars come from.
Dr. Villavicencio - aka Dr. V - at BNS was my neurosurgeon. He is a genius! I was in too much pain in my back to want to live that way. He performed a two-level cervical fusion to prepare me for the extensive thoracolumbar fusion that was 5 weeks later. That was a piece of cake, and I have recovered well. I call Dr. V "Michaelangelo" because he rebuilt my spine from T-10 to my sacrum. I had severe scoliosis from degenerative disc disease, and he corrected that and fused my lumbar region, repairing the nerves. I had terrible nerve pain down the outside of both legs. I'm almost 5 months out, and my recovery has been wonderful. The only pain I have is some muscular pain from my PT exercises. I can easily walk three-quarters of a mile, and I am amazed to feel almost like a normal person again. I praise my God, and I am so thankful for Dr. V!
When you pay your bill with a credit card over the phone, the receptionist writes your credit card info on a piece of paper and gives it to accounting and says that they shred it when they are done. Not very secure. I complained and they said that's just the way they do it.
Dr Villavacencio lacks any sort of bedside manner and his level of compassion is non existent. He did not review any medical history or imaging prior to walking in the patient room. In addition for waiting nearly 2 hours for the appointment, he was in and out within 10 minutes after arguing on the phone with staff. Most unprofessional and unqualified medical professional in the area.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
