The Boulder Center for Orthopedics is a place I will be recommending friends and family. It is not close to me—I live 40+ miles away—but there are factors to consider beyond convenient distance. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly, and was able to do all the check-in stuff online. The doctor was seeing, Brian Blackwood, had already done a very successful replacement on a friend of mine. The fact that Dr. Blackwood uses robotic assistance is a positive, as well. Another acquaintance had a knee replacement done at a very prominent and well-known orthopedic practice, and had huge problems that cost her time, pain, and a lot of money, and finally wound up having her have to have a second operation to rectify looseness from the first operation. It was financially very damaging, forcing her to sell her home and land and get a condo. This practice was the one I originally planned to have the surgery done through. The biggest factor in going to BCO, though, came after carefully jumping through every hoop, dotting every “i” and crossing every “t”…..and not hearing one word for six weeks now. When I went to the Boulder Center, the staff was welcoming and friendly and very efficient. Dr. Blackwood’s assistant was very informative and gave me good information both prior to and after meeting with Dr. Blackwood, and scheduled what will now be two separate knee replacements. I found Dr. Blackwood to be very knowledgeable and felt I am going to get the current best treatment available. Colorado probably leads the world in orthopedic medicine, and I am confident I am going to a surgeon and practice that is the very top of what is available to me.

I had a total knee replacement done recently by Dr Blackwood at BCH with an excellent result and far less pain and downtime than I was expecting! I was a happy cog in a very well-oiled machine. If you need a new knee, don't need a lot of hand holding and believe as I do that for a surgeon practice makes perfect then Dr B may be your guy!

Dr. Blackwood and his team are professional, skilled, kind, and helpful at every step of the process. I am very grateful for my two new knees that are recovering and working wonderfully since my April and September surgeries. Thanks to Dr. Blackwood and colleagues I am getting back onto my favorite local trails.
