List of David E Tanner's Reviews
I will simply be echoing the common experience with Dr. Tanner. Not trauma informed- none of his staff is. Poor interpersonal skills, no empathy, and grossly condescending. He seems uninterested in listening to his patients and getting to the root cause of pain, this is unprofessional.
Say what you want, Dr. Tanner saved my life. He worked with me over 4 years and brought me down from the equal of 780 units of OxyContin a day to 2 Nucenta. I owe this man my life. If you want a Dr. who cares and will try everything to manage your pain, Dr. Tanner is a great choice. If you want a Dr. who will blindly write you scripts for narcotics, better go someplace else. I've read the other reviews, and I knew that my pain was not really managed, I was just too high to care about it.
He prescribed me opioids, benzodiazapines and xyrem. For years! I'm lucky to be alive.
Doctor Tanner is the first doctor who really took the time and listened to me. He helped me to understand the "whys" behind my pain and address the source of what is really going on in my body. He has helped me more than words can say.
By far the most important appt and outcome of my life. Answers that I have searched for, needed & wanted were given. Much time was spent on my complicated and very long health history and a very competent treatment plan was started almost immediately and the process of coming off heavy load of narcotics that I have been on for years has been shifted to a better fit for me medications and much needed physical therapy. My former clinic provider had left and was left with more questions, frustration and pain with tried to treat me. Now a whole team approach is amazing, I feel like I am slowly making progress on a long road, but a positive way.
Doctor Tanner is the first doctor who actually listened to me and made me feel understood. He helped me find the "whys" behind my pain and address them at the source with a therapy plan of my very own. Helped me more than words can describe.
I wish this review had a "zero option" Dr. Tanner would most deservedly it. This "pain management" Doc actually has the nerve to make patients feel like they do not deserve proper medication management. This clinic is walking an ever shrinking tight--rope, and will most likely be disciplined for medical negligence and malpractice. A personal note to Dr. Tanner, "Roughly 2 years ago I saw you for intake process after 18 years of very successful long-tern management of pain. You had the nerve to tell me "I have 2 kids at, I don't need to babysit people at work." Why the HELL are you practicing in pain management? You are the one who will need baby-sitting after malpractice lawyers get done with you. Consider yourselves extremely lucky that I refused to HIRE you, my attorneys would have had your licenses and millions!" Watch it now! The World health Organization declared untreated chronic pain as torture- so you are promoting torture of pain patients!!!! Not a good idea..
This doctor continues to work through a number of very complicated health issues with me to provide pain relief. There are few medications I can tolerate but he continues to try to find things that I can both tolerate and that will help to ease the pain of multiple serious illnesses. He has been extremely patient under difficult circumstances. He and his staff have petitioned my insurance multiple times to get the medications I need approved. Both Dr. Tanner and his staff are supportive and compassionate. He communicates well and I never feel rushed.
Very helpful and kind. Takes time and listens.
I really don’t enjoy giving negative reviews, but I think that it is sometimes beneficial to share how things go badly, to prevent it from happening to another person. I had told Dr. tanner about my complex PTSD issues, and about my overall sensitivity. He told me that he would be placing an anesthetic in my nose, but he didn’t explain how it would go far past comfort in the body. I started crying and shaking on his table, but we didn’t stop. It took me a long while to stop shaking, and leave.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
