List of Heather Holmstrom's Reviews
Dr. Holmstrom was so busy being annoyed with me for something tiny I was differing on, that she spent more time telling me I should take my son to the ER if I thought I knew more, and not enough on diagnosing his problem. We left being told his stomach pain was being caused by inflammation from Ibuprofen, without any tests or any investigation as to why he'd had a fever for four days. She did not prescribe an x-ray to check for pneumonia (given the recent history of pneumonia) or stool masses that might cause the abdominal pain, and she was sure it wasn't strep. Nonetheless, I asked for the strep test, and guess what, it grew out a positive culture. Two days later, we went to Urgent Care and my son was diagnosed with pneumonia. Four days after that, he was septic! He has just come home from three days in the hospital. I was going to write a bad review even before the pneumonia and sepsis diagnosis because Dr. H. was so incredibly unpleasant, she didn't listen or ask questions, and she did a poor job of investigating possible causes of his symptoms. I will never take any family members to her again. One of the worst interactions I've ever had with a family doctor.

Arrived 1 hour late, even though I had an early morning appointment. Seemed to have very little empathy, was very rushed, and was a terrible listener. Some information that she did share with me turned out to be factually wrong.
I have a very difficult time getting an appointment at this clinic. I either need to have a same day appointment, or wait for months. Schedulers will not let you speak with a nurse. No follow up at all from this office. Several times I've left mesages with questions for the nurse or Dr. Holmstrom, and received no call back. For a while, they had men with computers in the exam rooms as "scribes". Not fun when you want to discuss personal issues with your doctor.
Dr. Holmstrom is the best family physician I've had. I've been seeing her at various offices on and off over the last 12 years (based on my insurance requirements) and have never had a bad experience. She is professional, knowledgeable and respectful of her staff and patients. I even at one point changed my insurance provider in order to remain in her provider network because I?ve not been able to find another provider that?s comparable to her. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Our family has been going to Dr. Holmsrom for several years now and she is a fantastic doctor. She talks to you like a concerned friend, really listening to your concerns, and then explains her thoughts very clearly, treating her patients as an equal in a way that is understandable but not dumbed down. She never asks dismissive about your concerns but if she doesn't think it is something to worry about she explains why in a way that allays your fears. She takes her time and never seems rushed to move onto the next patient. I have recommenced her to several friends who started taking their families to her and also love her. She is getting harder to get an appointment with due to her popularity though.
Dr Holmstrom refused to prescribe antibiotics to treat my now 2-month old sinus infection. Without knowing my health history, which includes that antiobiotics have cured my sinus infections once or more per year for the last 15 years, she refused. She suggested I use nasal irrigation - which I have - and flonase - which I have. I informed her I had also tried sudafed, contac, and others, each with side effects and reasons that I was resorting to the tried and true this time. I explained what the appointment and prescription were going to cost me as I've just gotten the worst insurance ever, and how I put them off because I had no insurance earlier. She listened but refused to write the antibiotic prescription. She had her reasons - I live with kids, community issues with resistance, etc - but I disagreed. I left a Dr's appointment in the middle of it for the first time in my life. I have a Master's degree myself - I'm no fool. Give me the medicine that has always worked for me!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
