List of Helen Rho's Reviews
Dr. Rho has been my primary physician since I moved to Boulder in 2020. Everything works smoothly as long as you don't have any issues. However, I must say that my experience with her has been less than satisfactory. She tends to be quite inattentive during appointments, often failing to truly listen to what you're trying to communicate. It's as if she suffers from a lack of focus or attention deficit. You almost have to spell out the obvious details of your situation for her to grasp what's happening with you. Instead of making an effort to comprehend your problem, she quickly refers you to another specialist. It's disappointing that she doesn't even bother to review your medical records, which are right there on her computer screen, just a click away. The mishandling of documentation and her overall lack of professionalism, both on her part and that of her team, are concerning. Dr. Rho is far from collaborative. She rarely seems available, and when she is, she appears rushed. It's disheartening to feel that she's more interested in following a protocol and sending you the bill than dedicating a single minute to genuinely understanding your concerns. I've encountered two issues in recent months where her assistance could have made a significant difference, but unfortunately, her involvement was unproductive. In both cases, I had to turn to two of my specialist doctors who, I must commend, provided exceptional support , even though the issue was clearly within the scope of a primary doctor, they recognized the extent to which I was underserved and provided me with assistance that greatly alleviated my condition. Those angels are: Gastroenterologist Dr C Blanton and Rheumatologist Dr L Maran. They truly embody the essence of genuine medical care. Not talking about their amazing staff as well. Due to these experiences, I've taken the step to change my primary doctor, ensuring that I have a reliable healthcare partner for any future health concerns. In conclusion, I CANNOT, in good faith, recommend Dr. Rho's services to anyone.
Do not suggest going to Dr. Rho. She doesn't actually want to solve issues or is attentive, she constantly pushes you to other departments. Hoping this one doesn't get deleted for being honest.
On September 1st I had a 1:00 pm appointment with Dr. Rho. I arrived at Boulder Medical Center at 12:45. I registered in the lobby and all kiosks had lines. I finally was able to check in and proceeded to her office. I checked in at reception was told there was no paperwork for me(receptionist checked) . I sat down. Then another person came out said I did have paperwork,so I filled it out and returned to the receptionist. It was now about 1:20-1:25. I was then informed by the receptionist that I had checked in at 1:01 and that Dr. Rho went on to the next patient. I asked how long it would be, 20 minutes was the answer. About 40 minutes later, i was informed by another person that I had checked in at 1:03 and that I would not be seen and could go to Urgent Care. Needless to say, I was in shock. Personnel were rude, unprofessional. This all occurred out loud in the waiting room. I left but came back to request all my medical records as I will not be returning. Horrible!
Helen is extremely intelligent and she always gets straight to my health needs at hand. She asks many important questions during my visits and makes specialist physician referrals as necessary. I have referred her to two people who also find her straightforward manner and confidence refreshing.
Dr. Rho was extremely rude and judgemental of me involving a very common and harmless thing *down there*. A bit of hair on the end of an IUD string! She literally said to me "WHAT are you putting up there!?" I was so embarrassed and she refused to do a pap smear on me even though I had just turned 21 and needed one. Worst bedside manner I've ever experienced. I cried at my next gyno appt explaining it to them because Dr. Rho made me feel so horrible and gross over a bit of hair, but thankfully my new gyno reassured me that she sees this all the time. Like all the time. And it's totally harmless. There was no need for Dr. Rho to speak to me in such a judgemental and dramatic way. Horrible experience AND she refuses to refill any meds, even topical acne meds, without another appointment.
Dr. Rho is one of the most compassionate and well-informed doctors I have ever seen. I always leave my appointments feeling like my issues have been addressed and that I am heard as a patient. I would highly recommend this doctor.
I went in for a physical and I made sure to tell Dr. Rho that I wanted to only have a physical and anything beyond that I would be possibly charged for I did not want. I stated this a few times and told her to let me know if I was going beyond a physical. When I got my bill, she had given extra charges for an outpatient visit which is another physical when I only had been there once. I have tried calling BMC and leaving voicemails and no one is getting back to me about this issue. Now they have moved my bill to precollect status. This is very upsetting and I DO NOT RECOMMEND seeing Dr. Rho as she is not helpful and charges extra when you tell her the circumstances for the visit.
Disappointed in our experience and recommend only taking appointments with Dr. Grodberg. Dr. Rho does not have a patient centric attitude nor is she accommodating of first time patients from different cultural backgrounds.
Dr. Rho is serious about my health. She listens and acts promptly. She is connected with the Boulder medical community, and set up appointments with excellent specialists. A good doc. Gets to the business of healing immediately. A bit terse. But there is lots of care given in a short appointment.
I've never had a doctor that makes you jump through more hoops than Dr. Rho. She has made me get blood tests in the middle of a pandemic for medications she's been prescribing me for years. She won't respond to refill requests unless you HARASS HER. She has different standards for each patient, what she will and will not prescribe (will prescribe me a med, but not my husband). It is beyond frustrating and I do not recommend you go to her unless you have time to continuously call her office and harass her to get things done. Even her office staff say this is true about her and that patients call daily complaining.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
