List of Karen Andrews's Reviews
Exceptional care and responsiveness. Dr. Andrews is so bright! I am so grateful to have her as my doctor. The only problem is she is booked out so far because she's so popular. But in the meantime her staff takes care of whatever they can.
I believe I saw Madeline Hoglund in November of 2021. I wanted to see Dr. Karen Andrews, but she was booked. Anyway, when I went and saw Madeline in late November before Thanksgiving, she was not super great. She was nice, but then she would be rude. She was I guess patronizing me, and making me feel like I was crazy for the symptoms I had. I started crying a lot because she was asking me questions that were personal, and it just hit me because again they are personal. She was associating my symptoms to me being crazy. She said I should take care of my mental health and then my symptoms I have won't bother me. I just thought I would write this review because again she would be nice and seem like she cared, and then she would turn around and act like I was crazy for being concerned about my health.
Dr Andrews is responsive, a great listener and creative with remedies. In my case, the staff has been nothing but polite, helpful and responsive. I have no complaints.
When I saw the low star count I was very surpsied, and realized people were complaining about the front desk staff as their reason. That's fine, but if you are actually looking for a good Dr, Dr. Andrews is excellent. As an allergist, Dr Andrews is great. Easily 5 stars. I base my judgement on following or writing reviews ilke this on the Dr and their performance and care they provide, as this is my priority. Dr Andrews has been diagnosing and monitoring my 4 year old since we found out she had a tree nut allergy when she was 18 mo old. I trust her, I apprecate her knowlege and experience and would highly recommend her as a Dr. especially as a parent with a child who has a severe allergy to know what to do, what to be diligent about, where we can relax on foods as this is a very stressful path to be on.
I hate writing this review because I personally like Dr. Karen Andrews a lot. She has been exceptional. She's lovely, knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated. However, her inability to manage her staff is very problematic. I've personally brought it up to her many times over the years. It needs to be addressed. So, I'm adding my review to the ones complaining about her staff, she will see that multiple people have had bad experiences with her staff and dig deep to make the changes necessary. We have been clients for many years. Her nursing staff, especially Nicole, are just dreadful at times. :( She's passive aggressive, obstructionist and downright mean at times. We have had so many negative run ins with Dr. Andrews' staff where she has to step in to provide common sense solutions to serious medical and customer service issues. We wish Dr. Andrews a lot of goodness but she does need to replace Nicole and any other staff that is incapable or unwilling to provide the proper amount of patient support.
I really like Dr Andrews but the reception staff is horrible! They are very hard to get ahold of on the phone and he hours are not consistent with what is on their website. Plus closed for an hour at lunch? That is when working parents can call!
Dr Andrews has been a tremendous help to me. She really knows her stuff, including keeping up with recent developments in mast cell disorders, and she's very caring and easy to talk to. I highly recommend her and her staff for allergies and mast cell disorders.
If I were reviewing Karen Andrews alone, I would give her 6 stars. She has been an exceptional practitioner in my son's life. Her staff, however, is another story. I would give them 2 stars. So, I settled in the middle and gave her office 4 stars altogether. The staff at Dr. Andrews' office is surly, disrespectful and even put my son's health in jeopardy by being uncooperative when we needed medication at one point. It is such a disappointment to see this gem of a practitioner with such sub-standard staff. That said, she is the ONLY asthma doctor I would recommend in all of Boulder. She is truly wonderful and considers all possible approaches so you can develop more of a holistic approach in her care. Perhaps she'll get new staff and then I change this review to 6 stars. ;)
Dr. Andrews might be a good allergy doctor (let's hope for everyone's sake she is). Thanks to her awful office management....I'll never know. And thank god for that! My son was scheduled as a new patient for allergy testing last week. He suffers terrible spring allergies and was overdue for testing. When I first called her office a few weeks ago, I was told that her first available appointment for a new patient was in August. I asked if there was any way we could get in to see her sooner...given my son's acute symptoms at the moment. The scheduler was able to work us in on May 10. I was appreciative of that. On May 10 - all sorts of events collided to make a bad situation. My son's class was on a field trip and they were delayed coming back because of graduation traffic. His kind teacher even cut the field trip short so my son could make his appointment. Our appointment was at 2:00pm and we would have been 10 minutes late. As soon as I found out we were going to be late, as a courtesy, I called the office to let them know. I was told that the office accommodates about 15 minutes of tardiness. Five minutes later I received a call from Dr. Andrews' office saying she couldn't see my son that day because we were going to be late and that we needed to reschedule to June 20! I protested and expressed my deep disappointment at this. Today, I got a call her from her scheduler telling me that she had discussed what had happened with Dr. Andrews and the other staff and that based on way I complained last week, they thought we were not A GOOD FIT for their clinic! I had assessed the lack of fit last Thursday itself and had set up an appointment with a different allergist for this week. I hope that every time she keeps a "fitting" patient waiting in her lobby for over 15 minutes, both Dr. Andrews and her highfalutin staff feel mortified. Highly unlikely, given the shameful way I was treated!
Extremely unprofessional. They rescheduled my son's appt. after I informed them that we were going to be 10 mins late. When I protested, I was told that we were not a GOOD FIT for their clinic and that we should seek care elsewhere. I hope that every time she keeps a "fitting" patient waiting in her lobby for over 15 minutes, both Dr. Andrews and her highfalutin staff feel mortified. Highly unlikely, given their shameless and unscrupulous treatment of our family.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
