List of Castle Rock Adventist Hospital's Reviews
I went to CRAH for some planned minor surgery. I was met by a volunteer who took me right to check in. I was then escorted to the surgery floor and within about fifteen minutes of my arrival, I was all set up and prepped to go. The entire staff was well organized and efficient. I cannot recall any medical appointment that was so well organized. Highest compliments to the entire team.
The Mommy and Me give away, Someone in charge needs to know that there are some ladies that arrive right when the event opens and clear out the bends, they take huge trash bags of the baby clothes out to their cars and come in for more. They have no kids with them. They are there right when the doors open, or before so there is nothing at all for the other Mom's that come in as the morning goes on. These ladies needs to be limited to one small bag and then to come back at closing time. They are ruining a good thing for Mom's that have a real need. Which breaks my heart and it is not fair fir anyone. There is always someone that ruins a good thing.
My 30 year old son arrived at Castle Rock Adventist in liver failure, which quickly progressed to kidney failure. The position of the hospital was that there was nothing they could do. They said that he wasn't eligible for a liver transplant, therefore there was no reason to do kidney dialysis to prolong his life to get to that point. Dr. Alamdew, who we were calling Dr. Doom, would just come in and shake his head sadly, stating there was nothing they could do. Well, after consulting with numerous doctor and nurse friends, AND having a nurse at the Adventist concur off the record, we decided to check him out a week later AMA and take him to CU Anschutz. They almost immediately put him on hemodialysis. We had a difficult 2 1/2 months, but my son had a Simultaneous Liver & Kidney transplant and is alive and doing well. They also got him immediately into alcohol rehab after the transplants. We are so grateful to Anschutz for not giving up on a 30 year old young man. If we had not left CR Adventist he would be dead today. There is no doubt of that. Based on our personal experience, I would tell loved ones to steer clear of this hospital. Especially if you have a difficult diagnosis. This is a small town hospital, lacking the resources to to the distance to save a life.

I went to the hospital after eating in a cafe and eight hours later becoming violently sick and increasingly dehydrated throughout the night. I received fluids and asked for a fecal test to confirm food poisoning. The doctor (she/her/them) refused and said "95% of these things are viruses." I told her it was important because I'm sure I wasn't the only one to get sick from the work cafeteria and the food service provider needed to be made aware if they are doing things wrong. Didn't matter. This DO was not at all concerned about public health. I also could hear the nurses laughing and carrying on but none would come help me when I needed help using the restroom. So, I removed my IV and BP cuff and went to the bathroom on my own. I've since put a card in the window of my wallet, "Do NOT take me to Castle Rock Hospital; they will not treat me. Take me to Sky Ridge or anywhere else." Horrible people, criminal-like service. Folks, avoid them like the plague. I I told
0 stars if i Could went to ER after being referred from Urgent Care after car accident due to possible complications . 1st I was giving a gown that smelled horrible then the doctor dismissed the concern and current pain due to explaining a previous procedure. I was in pain had nausea, high BP and that would not be addressed by neither nurse or doctor. I finally asked for ice and again stated my nausea was high and again dismissed. Doctor kept arguing w me when i repeated myself several times why i was referred finally agreed to do Xrays but did not want to do anything else. The pain continued and she discharged me as nothing w a note to go to my doctor and may need an MRI. Why not do it then versus wasting hours in hospital to only be offered she walked in saw me holding the blanket to my face to try to keep from vomiting and mocked me as oh I thought you were crying. I again said pain is high and again wanted to throw up. She finally said oh i can give you something and a tylenol or advil. How can you offer a pill when i want to vomit? The nurse also gave me attitude as i left upset. If you are really hurt go elsewhere these people do not listen and dismiss you.

If you are reading this then it is likely you already made the mistake of coming to this hospital. If you didn't already go- then you need to know that bypassing this hospital could save your life. The reality is that this is a very pretty urgent care. If you have a sinus infection or a broken arm this place may suffice. Most departments of this hospital seemed to be outsourced. We found out they don't have their own radiology department, it's outsourced to a company with one star. If something goes wrong you are screwed because the hospital it's self is not responsible. Our doctor told us they used the wrong equipment (on recording) and off the record we need to start over at a real hospital but that the hospital would try to keep us there. When our neurologist found out what they did she called and said go to any other ER but Adventist immediately. We went to Skyridge and it's a night and day difference. They admitted us overnight and it feels like a hospital you see on TV. The castle rock ER is like an urgent care where everyone is annoyed with you asking them to work. There's a sense of urgency at skyridge as opposed to Caslte Rock or Parker Adventist where the nurses seem to get annoyed when you interrupt them from gossiping. Don't get me wrong- there are def some people here who care, but we've been told by the people who care that we need to go elsewhere. We are told it ultimately comes down to the administration- it's just a business and not a very good one. If anything at this hospital was as good as their restaurant, it would be spectacular. But that is not the case as has been proven over years of visits here. 10 minutes into our experience made me feel stupid for ever going to Castle Rock Adventist. Don't get me started about the billing- be ready to fight every bill, every time. I just cannot emphasize how much better skyridge is over Adventist- it's just not a comparison. I've been told the overhead at Castle Rock is insane, so I expect this is a business trying to keep its head above water and cannot afford resources a normal hospital would have. So here's the break down: if you want to argue over billing, get treated like garbage by a third of the staff you meet there (some are extremely nice), get injured when they mess up a procedure, get poked to death while they try to find a vein (consistently bad at this), talked down to, told that it's called a "medical PRACTICE" for a reason by the doctor, have a longer time recovering from all the fumbling and misdiagnoses, then this is your place. If you want quick attention by competent people in a well equipped full service hospital then you go to skyridge. You are not getting the cream of the crop down in Castle Rock. Believe me, I'm not exaggerating- go to Sky Ridge or UC or Swiss.
They botched a simple procedure and have been trying to cover up for it. This has been life changing, as in cancelling life and being bedridden for a month so far. The doctor today admitted that the hospital admins want to keep us in the system- but the hospital really is not equipped to treat her. This hospital does not even own a radiology lab- it's outsourced to a company with one star. If you are reading this- do not go to either Parker or Castle Rock Adventist. This morning we were sent to surgery but not told what to expect, then they said they messed up and took us to the ER, and then the ER sent us back up to surgery- and guess what, they sent us back down to the ER. They already billed us for an ER visit last night for a consult today- so get ready to fight on all your bills. It's a very pretty hospital, but that's it- it's run terribly, always understaffed, it just a complete failure of a hospital. I once called 911 from this ER to go to another- I had to drive myself with kidney stones to sky ridge, which is probably where you should go. Although the doctor today said we really need to start all over again at a university hospital. This place is mostly just a really large urgent care. They are better at cooking food here than they are drawing blood.
I arrived with a head injury. My husband rushed me to the ER as we felt it was an urgent situation. I arrived holding a blood soaked towel on my head just to be told to “have a seat”. I was crying in pain and bleeding and a nurse came out to ask me my pain level but didn’t even look at the head wound and then continued to leave me waiting in the lobby. The only person who showed any level of concern was the security guard who checked on me asked what was going on and brought me a wheel chair. When I was finally brought into ER I was shown zero compassion. I was not given any discharge instructions. I had to ask if I could wash my hair, if I could drive, where my prescription was sent. Overall a very negative and disappointing experience. I do have to recognize the the security guard who checked in after I was brought back to ER and was the only person I encountered that showed any level of compassion. I was given CT scan with someone who was in training and then person training the new person even complained that I got blood on the machine- from my actively bleeding head wound. UPDATE: I followed up with my primary care to have staples removed and was told I should have absolutely been given a tetanus shot by the ER. I received one from my primary care but it was 10 days past the injury and well past the recommended 48 hours to receive the shot. How is a crucial step of giving a tetanus shot after a gaping would from a metal object missed?!
