A superstar! Dr. Hong exudes competence and her explanation of my condition was so easy to understand. During my procedure she talked me through each step and I clearly knew what was coming next. She was efficient but unrushed. Along with light touches on your shoulder, and soft humming to music while she works, it is a delight being a patient of Dr. Hong. Not a statement most can make when it comes to periodontics professionals.

I’ve had periodontal issues for at least the last 20 years. This was partially nature and partly nurture. I’m a British ex-pat from a poor place. That’s a recipe for a gingival train-wreck. For almost all of my adult life, I’ve been managing deep pockets (some 5+ mm). My gums have been endlessly root planed, zapped with ultraviolet, infused with antibiotics, etc… Dr. Hong recommended and performed osseous surgery which worked out perfectly. She also removed my wisdom teeth which, due to their position, were hard to clean. For the first time in my adult life, I have healthy gums. Dr. Hong is a visiting periodontist at other dentists. That’s how I became her patient. I can’t get into details on this forum, but I can say that Dr. Hong had my back when confronted with a conflict of interest with the referring dentist, and did it in a very tactful way. So, apart from being a very talented periodontist, Heather Hong has the utmost integrity.

I had my first visit with Altura yesterday and I met Dr. Hong. I have to say I was very happy with my consultation. Dr. Hong and her assistant made me feel very welcome and comfortable. They communicated clearly what they were looking at and what type of strategy they were going to pursue for my situation. The office is very nice, and the front staff was also very cordial. I left feeling well informed and without too much anxiety. Thank you!
