List of Matthew Chang's Reviews
Excellent eye care, very knowledgeable and friendly! Highly qualified and recommended.
Dr. Chang has a wonderful bedside manner. Surgically I have been told he is very competent. He was referred to me for cataract surgery. I had been told if I could, upgrade the lens. When I had my consultation, he indicated that I would be a good candidate for the Vivity lenses - even though I previously had lasik surgery. He said I would have distance and intermediate (computer) vision but would need readers for up close work. The cost was $3,300 per eye. I decided the extra cost was worth it. I do not recall if he ever mentioned, due to the lasik surgery, I could very well have issues and the lenses may not perform at indicated. After surgery, I did not have clear distance, intermediate and no up close vision. Everything was blurry. Within 1 month, he was suggesting I have another procedure (PRK I believe), which takes longer to heal and is painful and that "it might" improve my vision. Of course, he could not guarantee it. I then went to 2 other doctors for consultations. Both said the surgery was fine but they would never have put those lenses in my eyes due to the lasik. They did say that some patients could handle them but most do not and require glasses. So, now instead of having readers, I have 4 pair of glasses and need to wear them all the time: regular, sunglasses, computer and craft. I also have quite a few floaters that are a result of the surgery, which is not his fault, but I still have some that I can never seem to get used to. His attitude was very cavalier when I first expressed my concerns after surgery and very dismissive. He actually made me feel like I was wrong being upset.
Dr. Chang has performed three surgeries on me two cataracts both eyes and a cornea transplant all with amazing results he has a unique set of skills as a surgeon and he really cares about his patients and his staff from the doctor office and the Surgery Center are top-notch I am so grateful for what he is done and has given me vision from being blind he is the difference the reason why I can sea with very good vision
Dr Chang and his team are very professional and courteous. My only complaint, though it is a big one, is that I paid $2,800 for toric lenses with the understanding that it would improve my vision without glasses. The end result is that my vision is almost the same as it was before, with the right eye being a little worse and the left eye being a little better. I would have been better off saving the money and just going with the normal lenses.
Pleasant experience. Was scheduled promptly at the Briargate office. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Dr. Chang treated my eye infection carefully and thoroughly. I felt well cared for by this group.
Dr. Chang performed bilateral cataract surgery and had excellent results. Dr. Chang kept me informed during the procedures, and provided excellent follow up treatment and care. Excellent Doctor and superior care and staff.
Dr Chang's Office was quick to schedule my appt. Wait time was minimal.Dr. Chang is friendly and explained my cataract surgery well. He took the time to answer my questions. I was a difficult case due to previous surgeries that left a lot of scar tissue. The day of surgery the anesthesiologist was 20 minutes late as we waited in the operating room, which is in a different location than his office. Results were ok, a 2nd surgery was needed. You will not see Dr. Chang for follow up visits.
Excellent. Comfortable, caring, I am very comfortable with the whole procedure I went through up to and after surgery. I would recommend Dr Chang and his team to anyone looking to acquire a surgeon for the cataract procedure.
Ace wrote a review about the billing... our billing was also messed up. However, we did pay our co-payment. A few months later we got a bill (one for my husband and another for me) saying we owed them more due to a billing error. The Doctors and staff are wonderful, just pay attention to the billing.
I initially made an app for my eye exam and I have medically necessary contacts, the young lady that made the app for me told me they handle madically necessary patients, thats why I made the app. I also ended up having an ulcer on my right eye. Well I found out from the optometrist that they do not handle pts in my case anymore due to the low payment of insurance. So I left and paid my part of the bill, the young man behind the counter told me my copay was $10 and I paid it. Well 2 months later I get a bill for an additional $50 and I called to find out why. They told me it was part of my copay. I explained to them that I paid it already. How does an office let you leave without paying the copay? I didn't think I needed to question the man behind the counter if my $10 copay was all I needed to pay, they're the experts not me but i guess they're not experts after all. If I owned the clinic I'd be very concerned about my employees not charging out pts correctly. Do they have a bunch of clowns working there? This makes the office look very disorganized and mismanaged, I'd be doing some restructuring if I owned the clinic and had bad encounters for my patients. If you make an app there dont hold your breath when they tell you that you don't owe anymore after leaving your appointment. Watch your back with them

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
