List of Denver Health: Westwood Family Health Center's Reviews
I had an appointment today and the staff was professional and respectful. Not crowded or waiting time. Was a really good experience.
I left the below review a couple months ago and received a response that the correct team will be notified to investigate further. A number was left for me to call but when I reached out, nobody had any idea what I was talking about. Since leaving the initial review I started receiving calls from a debt collector as I’ve so far refused to pay this bill. I would like Denver Health to cancel the original bill and bill me for physician’s office services instead of outpatient hospital services so my insurance company will pay the bill. It’s disingenuous use of a legal loophole for Denver Health to provide PCP services then bill them as hospital care just because the office is owned by a hospital. Initial review: Your copay for “physician’s services” probably won’t cover care at this clinic. They bill as “outpatient hospital services” even though it’s just a physician’s office owned by Denver Health. I now owe hundreds my insurance won’t cover because Denver Health is using this billing loophole to get more money out of insurance companies.
Westwood is not a place you want to entrust with your health. This is the first review I’ve ever left if that shows how displeased I am. You will wait at least 90 minutes to see your physician and mine was personally cold and had a horrible bedside manner. I went to get my prescription this afternoon and was told they closed two hours early for a retreat. What kind of practice closes early? I rely on this prescription for my heart function. I will be having my records transferred elsewhere
Miren Aboitiz is such a high-quality provider - I've been seeing her as my PCP for 2-3 years now and she is truly top of the line! She's kind, approachable, SO intelligent and knowledgable, and never makes you feel rushed or dismissed. Highly recommend.

Dr. Cook is wonderful!
My first appointment with Dr. Cook went very well. I felt heard, and he even suggested he was going to get more information about a potential long term issue I'd been dealing with. In the meantime, I've been getting my adderall refilled every month, and it's gotten more and more difficult every month. I used to send messages via MyChart, but then when something went wrong between the clinic and my pharmacy, right before I went out of town, the clinic left me on read. So I started calling to request my refills. This worked the first couple times, and then i called 2 Thursday's ago, and by Wednesday the refill still hadn't been received by the pharmacy. I tried to call to follow up, and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes, it sounded like someone picked up, and then the call disconnected. I decided to try again, only for the call to be randomly disconnected after holding, every time. I called 5 times, same issue, so I contacted the call center, who offered to hold until I got through to someone. After I got through to the clinic, they transferred me to my doctor's team, and I just received the voicemail. Finally, I drove to the clinic on Wednesday, and was asked to sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes to confirm the prescription would be sent to the pharmacy I requested. Once they assured me the prescription would be sent there, I drove to that pharmacy, only to get an auto text from the wrong pharmacy (who was closed) that my subscription was out of stock. Now it's been a week and a half, I called the clinic again to get my prescription sent to the right place, and the same nonchalant attitude of "we'll send a message to your provider" persists, and nobody has taken any accountability for the fact that I've been without a medication that will disrupt my work life and mess with my metabolism by taking it inconsistently. I sincerely suggest you find another clinic, which is what I'll be doing. If this is how all Denver health clinics function, I really pity the people with their insurance like I had last year. Absolutely disrespectful, and showing no regard for how important it is to patients to be able to reliably access their medication. After waiting three months for an appointment, I expected a quality healthcare experience. Update: called again at the end of the day today as I was still awaiting an update. After being given the same line about "sending a message to your provider," I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes only for that request to be ignored, and was given the same "we're working on this now" response.
Disappointed that after several years with this clinic we were “let go” shortly after finally standing up for ourselves and asking office staff to actually be professional and do their jobs. Never a real issue with the actual healthcare providers but always a problem with scheduling and getting weeks-in-advance appointments canceled at the last minute, and getting my son’s ADHD meds refilled in a timely manner. If I reach out a week before he runs out that is plenty of time to get your affairs in order and there is no excuse for you to leave me on read in MyChart (yes, the system shows us that). After finally getting this refilled we were informed that denver health no longer accepts self pay so we were left to find a new provider - what they didn’t know is after this ordeal we had already started looking. If I’m going to pay out of pocket I’m going to spend my money at a place that doesn’t have a waitlist six months out for subpar service. I feel like during the pandemic this place was at its best and have let things slack in the past year. My kids used to receive counseling through here too but our specialist Dr. Grote left unceremoniously and never saw us for our most recent session because it was canceled. Personally I find the replacement Magda to be overzealous and unfriendly to parents; she spoke with my son without my being informed during a physical well check and I was left waiting to go to work so imagine my surprise when I came in and a stranger is discussing things with my kid (which is her job but some prior communication so I could be prepared and prepare my clients would have been nice). I know the staff and providers are likely swamped and public health is even harder so I try to be compassionate and patient but after years of having a relationship here to suddenly only be treated as if my children no longer matter is unacceptable. So thanks for “firing” our family. We are better off!
Our last visit to the Westwood Family Clinic was not a good experience. The receptionist was very rude and not helpful. She was very unprofessional, which made our check in experience awful.
This clinic back in the day like 2000 - 2010 was a bit far from where I lived on Colorado Blvd and I-25 area. But, my primary care doctor was assigned to Westwood from the Park Hill clinic, and I didn't want to lose the best doctor I have ever had. Never had any issues with this clinic and it's staff were always courteous and professional. Many thanks to those that work here, and to my favorite primary care doctor Dr. Anderson if she is still there. Will have many good memories of this clinic. But, I had to transfer all my healthcare to the VA healthcare system because I was moving to Minnesota in 2019.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
