List of Highlands Health And Wellness's Reviews
I've been seeing Dr. Meyer at Highlands Health and Wellness for about four years now, and I can't say enough good things. I came looking for real solutions for my migraines and fibromyalgia after failing to find answers in a more traditional medical practice. I've seen a lot of improvement over these four years, and I've learned so much about my body and its unique needs! Dr. Meyer has always approached my care as a partner. We always discuss things and then we devise a care plan together. Functional medicine can come with a high price tag, but Dr. Meyer has always respected my decisions about what tests I am or am not willing to pay for, and there is always a path forward even if I decline testing. Her staff has also always been very kind and communicative. My only criticism is the drive and parking, but honestly, I'm able to get so much of my care virtually that I typically only have to go to the office once or twice per year, so I can live with it. I'm very glad I found Highlands Health and Wellness and Dr. Meyer!
As someone with a boatload of chronic illnesses (PCOS, Endometriosis, blah blah blah) Dr. Meyer & her team are the only people on the entire planet I trust with my care. Not only is Dr. Meyer exceptionally knowledgeable, but her bedside manner is unmatched. From *really* listening to my concerns and frustrations with my body to actually helping me fix them, my health has improved exponentially over the 6 years I've been working with her. Oh, and I can't forget Angie, her administrative genius. Like, talk about the embodiment of warmth, responsiveness, and precision. I'm endlessly grateful to be a patient of Highland Health & Wellness, and can't wait for my appointment tomorrow. (Yes, I'm excited about a doctor's appointment. Wild, right?)
My experience with Highlands Health and Wellness has been life changing! After many years of suffering with severe IBS, luckily I stumbled across one of Dr. Meyer’s videos on SIBO. I joined the Clinic and started evaluation, coaching, treatments and follow up. In just a year, I have transformed from having chronic flu like symptoms, fatigue, depression to a much better health. Higher energy levels and I’m feeling the Joy of life. Thanks to the Team ( Dr. Meyer, Jess and Angie) at Highlands, you taught me so much to help become healthy and happy!
Dr. Shelley Meyer is a dedicated, highly skilled functional medicine doctor who listens carefully and helps guide patients through important health decisions. She has been my doctor for over a decade and I am so grateful. Her concierge practice model is excellent because she offers long enough appointment times to really think through situations, and she and her team are highly accessible, kind and responsive. Scheduling is super easy, the office is beautiful and the communications portal is user-friendly. Dr. Meyer can do it all: check-ups, exams bloodwork and tests through insurance as well as special functional medicine tests that help find the root causes of health challenges. Jessica, the health coach, is absolutely brilliant, and Angie is super organized, friendly, and manages everything. I cannot say enough good things about this practice.
I highly recommend Dr. Shelley Meyer, DO and the staff at Highlands Health and Wellness. Dr. Meyer has extensive knowledge as a Dr. trained in functional medicine and nutrition. She has gone above and beyond to help me overcome complex health issues, getting to the root of the problem by running specialty labs and tests. She has helped me more than any other Dr. has by far! I have been so thankful to find her and receive such great care.
I wanted so badly to like this place but unfortunately my experience was not good. Let me start by saying that at the beginning I told the office and doctor I did not have a ton of money but really wanted to get involved with Holistic medicine after years of doctors telling me nothing was wrong. They do not let you even have a consultation with the doctor before committing to a 6 month membership at $280 a month. This $280, despite what the website says, includes NOTHING. I have spent thousands of dollars in the last 6 months and don’t feel an ounce better. The nutritionist I worked with barely ever had availability so I settled for a phone call - she told me to track my food and eat more protein, nothing I had not been told before. I was placed on a GLP1 weight loss med that did not work and again cost a ton of money. I ended up feeling much worse after and months later am still trying to get my body on track. It says on the website there is an app included with a trainer? Never heard of that in my time there. Not worth the money and really did not feel like my needs were being heard - I was just being thrown different meds and supplements every time I went in. The blood tests were confusing and complicated and still don’t really make much sense to me as I don’t feel like they were explained super well. Most of the positive reviews left here are for a dispensary with a similar name so just wanted to leave my real life experience here. Not
I used to be a patient of Dr Meyer and could not have been happier with her care and have always recommended her highly over the years. Unfortunately, her model no longer worked for me so I had to move on. However, when my boyfriend was looking for a functional medicine practitioner we could not have been more disappointed by her office’s response. My boyfriend is a 100% disabled combat veteran and was looking for a doctor that would LISTEN to him and take a whole person approach to his care. I could not have imagined that Dr Meyer would not have fit the bill perfectly. Sadly, that was not the case. When I left a message inquiring about care on behalf of my boyfriend I explained he suffered from chronic pain and was medically complicated. I received a TEXT, not even a phone call, from someone in the office simply saying “We do not prescribe opiates at this practice.” It felt incredibly dismissive and exactly the opposite of the type of care we were seeking.
For clarity, I haven't been to this functional medicine practice but came across these reviews in my attempt to research it. Most of the reviews here on Google maps seem to be for a similarly-named recreational marijuana dispensary. I'll simply point out that based on her credentials Dr. Shelley Meyer of Highlands health and Wellness is worth your consideration as a physician. If you have chronic health concerns, she holds several noteworthy qualifications in addition to her DO (doctor of osteopathic medicine). She's also an RDN (registered dietitian nutritionist), and I personally encountered her information while investigating functional medicine doctors (she's fully certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine, or IFM). These qualifications suggest an interest in treating patients holistically through lifestyle recommendations (e.g. nutrition, exercise, etc) rather than medicating them symptom-by-symptom. You can probably expect more individualized care at a practice like this one.
Dr. Ngo is HORRIBLE. Dr. Yut & Dr. Young are great. Choose wisely. Don't waste your time or pain.
Dr. Meyer (and the rest of her staff) has seen my whole family, including my two kids from their two-week appointments on. She has always been very responsive to my panicked calls (when is it not an urgent call, when your tiny baby is sick, even if it's "normal"?) She has also welcomed my questions/hesitations when it comes to some Western medicine norms, and she always offers holistic and research-based advice/thoughts/diagnoses. She even met me on a Saturday (not office hours) to give my girl the last of her three-day antibiotic shots for an ugly ear infection. Personally, she diagnosed and has helped treat issues I've had for years -- that a counselor, midwife, dermatologist, and naturopath didn't catch. While it is a younger and smaller practice, I'm definitely willing to overlook a less-than-friendly receptionist who answered the phone a few times or confusion with paperwork. The care and professionalism we've received when it really counts is invaluable to me. Update (Feb 2018): she no longer has a frazzled receptionist. Leslie is always kind, warm, and welcoming! :)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
