List of James C Holmes's Reviews
Dr. James Holmes is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Holmes replaced both of my mother's knees 15 years ago and they are doing great. Dr. Holmes takes the time to listen to your concerns, is clearly knowledgeable, but also proactive in making sure that you get the best care possible. Dr. Holmes old school care is hard to find in today's medical world. Thank you!!
Dr Holmes was everything I could want in a surgeon. Good communication, no surprises, explained all procedures carefully, excellent results from my surgery.
If you want to see a Dr that doesn't listen to you, then see Dr. Holmes. Even after getting an MRI, he insisted my knee issue was lack of cartilage under my patella. He said 'there's nothing that can fix this.' This was absolutely wrong. Don't give up if he tells you that. In fact, don't see him in the first place. Also, his assistant is very rude.
Get a clear feeling that he does not like women. Very condescending and argumentative. Will find another surgeon.
Older, wiser, kinder. He really took the time to properly explain the implications of my injury (a badly broken hand) and offered lots of good advice to help promote a full recovery. He didn't sugar-coat the potential downsides of having a broken bone, but I left his office definitely feeling there was someone in my corner looking out for my best interests. Plus, he's just a very nice guy, witty and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
I liked the doctor. But he didn't appear to have much knowledge. He actually seemed lost and couldn't think of anything to do but refer me to a nerve doctor. Who put me on pills and referred me back. This went on for months with the doc always saying he didn't know what was wrong. My medical records always said he spent an hour with me and I "fully understood" his treatment plans. He never spent more than 10 minutes with me and he didn't have a treatment plan. Maybe they count the time spent waiting in the room to see him? He wasn't going over records because the place is small enough you can tell what room the doc is in. Needless to say he stated that he couldn't find a reason for surgery so he couldn't help me. Never once telling me what was wrong even after asking. I went to two different docs in Ohio. Both stated one of my ankle bones is broke and there is an area of dead bone. Dr. Holmes has a great personality but he lacks medical knowledge/skills in my opinion.
I had terrible ankle pain from a fall, nothing was really helping it. I finally went to Dr. Holmes and he recommended surgery. What a blessing. He is competent, kind, and puts you at ease with the process. Many of his staff members are incompetent (NEVER let Tammy touch you!) and office wait times can be over two hours which is unacceptable but it's what you have to put up with to see him. If you have an ankle problem, he is THE person to go to. I hardly every post something positive on this site. most doctors are useless and uncaring. for me to say good things about Holmes is a good testament to his skill and care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
