Mayfair Internal Medicine's Online Review Report Card

Doctor Lovegren has been my PCP for several years. She has helped me through some scary potential situations and she always seems to have time for a phone call, telehealth or appointment. I am surprised by some of the other reviews - I have found her to be NOT ALARMIST at all; in fact, she talks me down often with humor. I find her to be knowledgeable and when she doesn't know something, she will admit it rather than giving you BS. She is conservative but reasonable and she works with you to sort through issues. I always feel like she has my back.

I've been with Mayfair for years. The Practitioner and Drs. Always give you the attention you need. And will follow-up when appropriate. You feel that they care about their patients.

Cannot get my basic medications filled, but they will absolutely try and get you in for as many visits as they can without a diagnosis for acute AND chronic conditions (I ended up hospitalized with a very serious infection after being seen the same day and given zero treatment for my illness). The doctor literally typed up a note saying they didn't know what was wrong with me, and told me to take it to another ER (The 4th I've been to in 2 weeks). Shirley and the front end staff will absolutely leave you for DEAD (Minus Candi and Abby, they actually seem to care.) STILL dealing with the infection and getting my heart medication as I type this...

I personally had a horrible experience with the Mayfair Internal Medicine practice after Dr. Larry Plunket retired. Dr. David Bolshoun was very rude. He appears obese and does not seem to like patients who are conscientious about their health and lifestyle, especially if the take supplements as alternatives to OTC and prescription drugs. I found Dr. Edith Lovegren not thorough and disengeous. She had me alarmed about what could have been serious iron lab results without rerunning her flawed test interpretation. She referred me to a hematologist who immediately found these same iron test results normal. She was brought to tears when I expressed my 36 year health challenges. I thought that she really cared. Later both Bolshoun & Lovegren dismissed me from their practice by certified letter without a legitimate reason. Today, they restricted me from access to my electronic health record history of 8 years. I will check to see if this is a Hippa violation. I strongly would not recommend this practice!

Dr. Bolshoun has a very questionable bed-side manner. He raised his voice and started scolding me because I dared to criticize a mistake he made. He told me my previous specialist was not in my network and I would not be insured by him. It ended up that he was in my network and Dr. Bolshoun never even checked. I had to use an unfamiliar doctor. When he answered my questions, his responses were rude, offensive and uninformed. I said that I had Shingles twice in two different places. His answer was, "Impossible." This has been verified by the Mayo Clinic and other doctors. When I said one of my tests was so good because of my strict diet, his answer was, "That is only 5% of your health." When I told him I was having serious side effects from the medicine he prescribed me, he said, that is correct and he showed me a list of the side-effects on his laptop. He made no efforts to change the medication even though it caused me terrible headaches. He just told me to come back in three months. I am in my eighties and gave up arguing about the situation. The next week I ended up in the Emergency Room because of severe side- effects from the medication. He left me no choice but to find another doctor who will actually listen to me.

This is one of the worst practices that I have ever visited. I would NOT recommend if you are a relatively healthy individual as their alarmist tactics will scare you into unnecessary testing and hysteria. As a new patient visiting for an viral illness, I was made to feel like a 'subject' for testing and learning. Dr. Lovegren and her PA, Jennifer told me that I may have a very serious illness and that I needed to see a Specialist for follow up. My diagnosis was extreme...bringing capricious fear and anxiety over the weeks following, which all could have mitigated with thoughtful & investigative healthcare. I wish that I had done more research before visiting and now realize the importance of finding good healthcare professionals that you can trust and that will understand your full patient profile before making a quick judgement.

Dr. Bolshoun is without a doubt the best primary care doc I have ever had. He is the only doctor I have had since moving to Denver. I have never needed him and not been able to reach him or receive care. He has always taken the time consult with me as opposed to hurrying to the next appointment and he has always demonstrated genuine concern for me.

I have no idea how Dr. Bolshoun gets positive reviews. I am still traumatized from my attempt at finding a primary care provider as a new arrival to Denver a few years ago. I was just speaking to a friend about this incident, and out of curiosity, decided to see what the Yelp reviews said. I have never had a more insulting, harmful visit to a doctor in my life. And it wasn't just a matter of a missed diagnosis. I have what is now a chronic pain situation that I just have to live with. At the time, I had attempted about 5 different types of treatments to no avail, and was in excruciating pain in the aftermath of a broken tailbone. At the time, I was looking establish a new primary care relationship and the purpose of the visit wasn't specifically the tailbone injury/pain, but was indeed part of the conversation because I had recently driven across the country in my move to Denver and I was in so much pain I was having a great deal of difficulty sitting in the waiting room, for much longer than I should have. By the time I actually got to see Dr. Bolshoun I was in tears due to the amount of pain I was in. I needed to discuss other matters with him, such as thyroid medication maintenance, etc. But when I got to the topic of my tailbone, I asked him, with probably a lot of desperation in my voice and in my face, what he would suggest I do next in order to address it, after describing the history of the matter. He became very upset with me, he raised his voice, he scolded me, and accused me of being a drug seeker. Treating the condition with pain medication wasn't even on my radar as I have an intolerance to those drugs. I was in a new city and looking for a doctor to have an ongoing medical relationship with, and I found myself feeling so belittled and so small, the likes of which I have trouble describing the extent of and the likes of which I have not before or since experienced from a medical provider. It was heinous. I do not know how this man is ale to practice medicine with actual patients. I indeed responded by saying, in shock, did I ask you for pain meds? And he said, oh, well, no actually you didn't. He just unleashed a tirade on me for just asking what I should do next.

I have seen Dr Bolshoun and Lovegren at this practice for about 3 years and rate both highly. Dr Bolshoun is patient, kind, and takes a lot of time to listen to my concerns. Particularly for women, this is so important as concerns are more frequently dismissed at a doctors office. I trust my providers here and will be a long time patient. Front office staff are courteous and efficient as well, and billing smooth.

Very respectful and helpful staff. Mayfair has been my number one spot to go when I need of medical attention for the past 11 year's.
