I tried Oak Street Health in KC, MO. They are AARP approved, therefore accepted Medicare and United Health Care. The commercials prompted me to check them out. My first visit was very thorough. Lots of tests to get the baseline. They stated they wanted to see me every 3-4 months. They also referred me out for bone density, electrocardiogram, cat scan, etc., for follow up to make sure my previous tests from my former residence in another state were tracked. For some reason, where I wanted my referrals to be sent, OSt Health could not get the correct referral numbers and I had to get the fax numbers and call Ost Health back to restart the process. Once my tests were completed, I received calls to discuss the results, but always talked to the nurse and not the Dr. And, after many times in returning their calls, always having to be transferred, I finally got the direct number to my local office. The first person i saw was not there on my second visit. Then when making my third visit appointment, another Dr was assigned to me. I now am choosing to go with a hospital system that is all inclusive, where everything is in one vicinity and all my information is within one system. Although Oak Street Health is good for some, I feel they, being the middleman, are too much bother for my preference.

I went in for a welcome visit. talked to an intake person. she told me I would be talking to a dr for 40 minutes while getting my medical history, etc. I spent almost 10 minutes talking to this PA. she almost immediately saw the psoriasis on my hands. that is pretty much all she went over. then she told me there was a new medication for psoriasis. MMM Can't remember the name of it...Ahhh I see it on TV all the time but I just can't think of the name it. hmmm you are going to prescribe me something on TV that you don't even know the name of?? umm I won't be coming here again. I have told at least 4 people about this when they call and want me to schedule the next exam. THEY WILL NOT STOP CALLING ME!! NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN BEING TREATED OFF THE TV COMMERCIALS.

never been there,my son is on disability they do not see you if your on Medicare. WHY???

Terrible Office, nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone, Staff gives different answers, never can talk with Doctor who is horrible and clueless, the only positive is the most of the staff is pleasant and transit is great, but the overall company itself is very unprofessional and typically Medicaid like

no good communication, take to long , and calling for medication to the pharmacy to long too. today was very disappointed day.

I tryed them this year and they refused to accept United Health care insurance so i had to go elsewhere.

All employees I met were friendly. The doctor was very personable and made me feel important and heard. As I shared some of my health concerns, the PCP sounded reassuring about helping me with these health issues. I like their mission of helping their patients to be happy, healthy, and to stay out of the hospital. A new kind of health care.

I went to Oakstreet the first time to an Aetna Medicare information session. I decided to give Oakstreet a try (my primary at the time was ok, but wanted to change). The first 3 visits were good, gathering information, blood work, then finally seeing the PA. I liked her and thought she was thorough. Because of some abnormalities in my blood work, she wanted to send me to a cancer center. I gave her the name of my preferred center and she said she would sent the referral. I received a call from a totally different clinic, so I declined to set an appointment saying I had requested a different facility. They canceled my referral. Oakstreet sent me a letter with the information to give to this clinic when I called to make an appointment. When I called the facility that I wanted to be seen at, That facility was requesting additional information from Oakstreet before they would schedule an appointment for me. Oakstreet to this day (July 9) has not given them the additional information. I have called, at first weekly, then monthly to get Oakstreet to provide the additional information. You can only get a call center. No way to speak to anyone at the Oakstreet clinic you are seen out unless to physically go there, which I refuse to do. Every time I call, I get a different person and have to explain the situation all over again. Then silence! I don’t understand a facility who doesn’t offer a patient portal where you can send medical staff messages. Maybe it’s because they don’t want any documentation of their lack of care or followup. Having a call center for health care is absolutely stupid. I have now decided this facility is not for me and I will go back to my primary care and at least feel like they care.
