We were referred to Beam Radiology by our family doctor. Our family doctor had direct conversations with Dr. Olivier Clerk-Lamalice that Dr. Olivier Clerk-Lamalice (and Beam Radiology) does not agree with cortisone shots due to the nature of them being a “high” that the patient continually tries to reach after having a shot. Our doctor stated clearly that the senior doctor (Dr. Olivier Clerk-Lamalice) at Beam Radiology (and our family doctor) did not agree with cortisone shots, and that is why we were referred to them. An appointment was set up with Beam for a consult. At our appointment Dr. Chirag Patel came in and was focused on providing a cortisone shot. We were taken back by this as we made the appointment as a consult only, as surgery was an option. Dr. Chirag Patel’s focus was providing the shot only. When we brought up that this was supposed to be a consult, and that we were told that Beam didn’t view cortisone as a solution, Dr. Chirag Patel finally went to the file, and read the comments. It seemed clear that he didn’t read the file before our meeting and the idea of the consult seemed to be an annoyance to him. He seemed more focused on his schedule and that we were now interrupting his premeditated daily plan. Dr. Chirag Patel stayed focused on providing the shot, and that’s eventually what happened (in hindsight it did nothing to help). When we finished our appointment and provided feedback to our family doctor, our doctor was shocked as he was told clearly by Dr. Olivier Clerk-Lamalice that cortisone shots were not the focus of Beam and that other options were preferred. The experience was very poor with Beam and really unprofessional. It felt like they just wanted to push us through the daily list and get the revenue from a shot and move on. Our family doctor felt that Dr. Olivier Clerk-Lamalice mislead him in order to encourage referrals.

Dr Clerk is the very best. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind and competent. Finally a doctor that will find a solution to your pain. His entire team are also wonderful and treat you with compassion and respect. Get a referral to Beam. You won’t regret it.
