Just have to say Thank you so much to this place for stealing my wallet! Which had my ID, credit cards, and a wad of cash in it! And also can not forget the trauma that this forced visit has caused me! All anyone did here was treat me like a joke. Medical tyranny is what you will get here. D i s g u s t i n g comments from a certain male nurse here and everyone just is cruel here. This place is Disgusting! If you want to be damaged and have your personal property stolen then go for it! They even asked me if I had a passcode on my phone which I did not have with me when I stayed here They were going to look through my entire phone if they had a chance! No respect for privacy. This place needs to be shut down for the sake of humanity
The virtual IOP therapists would yell at people if their screen was off. Restroom is not allowed? The therapist for my group would use the group time to sternly lecture participants about any mistakes in paperwork or timing. Otherwise ignored me and anything I said unless he disagreed. YouTube has better therapy without triggering trauma.
I was diagnosed as Bipolar 1 and 2 out of nowhere at 42. Drugged which made it all worse. 4 years later I'm apparently not bipolar. Lost my career, reputation, and family. True story
Do you want to be forced to go to "group therapy" where we all discuss our feelings like we're in a kindergarten class? Do you want to be condescended to by a bunch of nurses who don't care about how you feel and only want their paycheck at the of the day? Do you want to be saddled with thousands of dollars of medical debt because you were forced to take lab tests you didn't actually need? Do you want to end up feeling worse than you were feeling when you first went into this place and end up more like to be in there again because of your newfound medical debt? If so, then Porter Hospital Behavior Health is just the place for you.
For inpatient adult services this is the last place you should go. My son was admitted after spending 10 days in ICU after a deliberate overdose of antidepressants and antipsychotic meds. He had to be recesitated during that stay. This was a serious attempt and we were told by liaisons that he would be spending a long period of time with them. This was his 2nd suicide attempt and 4th hospitalization. They are releasing him after a 5 day visit with no place to go, and helping him find a shelter? No one even bothered to call his dad or I ever during the behavior health portion of his stay. How can they release a patient who has no support, is unable to care for himself or provide himself with food or shelter? After numerous voice mails left for Dr Kutnick, my son's dad got to speak with him briefly. The doctor refused to listen to our concerns, did not provide any answers or options and ultimately hung up on us. He also refused to call me to discuss further. Negligent, uncaring, superficial treatment. Oh and for Porter's patient advocacy department, don't tell me you'd like to hear my opinion and to give you a call. I also still waiting for a call back from you!
please find another IOP to attend. very dismissive people, if you have any concerns you are cut off. Dr Brant was one of the rudest doctors I have ever encountered. accused me of being late when I was 5 minutes early, HE was late.. The therapist they assigned me had her dog barking while i was trying to communicate with her. I think this program is all about money. new patients are thrown in with people in their final week. very disjointe. they keep a rolling attendance to maximize the money they can pull from you and your insurance company. they have no orientation to any of the protocols, vocabulary, or Enron the definition and idea behind DBT you are just supposed to get on zoom and figure it out. Honestly YouTube could do a better job.
Ok experience groups are good and doctors are ok, but the lack of outdoor time and the miscommunication on discharge is terrible.
This is the worst place I have ever been to in my life. They are rude , mean, unhelpful, and at times just flat out cruel. Find some other place that takes your insurance and save yourself the grief. It is so easy to tell they are only there for the money and if you care about your wellbeing or your loved ones please do not bring them here. I honestly feel I am worse off after going here. They make zero attempt to form a relationship with you and just give you medication then send you on your way. Any type of paperwork you want from them even if it is just to sign a school note is $35 and the worst experience you will go through to get it done. Also never miss an appointment or be late because they will charge you $100. I think this place needs to be reported and shut down, because they are so sketchy and unprofessional it is ridiculous. If you don't take my word for it best of luck, and if this is the only place that will take your insurance (there is a reason) and I really pray for your wellbeing. If I could I would give them zero or negative five stars.
I've never seen any of the geriatric doctors people in the reviews are describing, I've always had good experiences here. I have no idea why people are so upset with this place, where do I even start? Good stuff first: Number one, they listen to their patients. They acknowledge the understanding you have of your own mental health and any experience you have, and no doctor or PA I or anyone I know has ever been dismissive of us. None of that crap where the doc treats us as not knowing our own brains just because we're a patient and they're a doctor. They're so easy to talk to! (To the guy who's mad because they asked him how he was feeling instead of printing off a DSM-V checklist you can get yourself on the internet . . . my dude. That's what a psychiatrist is supposed to do. Screen you. Personally. So they can get more than a list of symptoms on a piece of paper. And to the same reviewer, don't even get me started on the "I won't take certain meds because I think they sound scary" crap. Lithium, for example, has been used for AGES to great success. It's why they offer it. Not because anyone wants to poison you with the stuff that's in batteries, or whatever. Get real.) On the subject of medications, they've been great about trying new things rather than upping my doses on the same old same old like my last doctor did. I'm not maxed out on my meds anymore. My doctor is open with me about side effects and drug combinations, and keeps me appraised of why I'm on any given medication and why we think it will work. I feel well managed and like I have options if I need to make adjustments. As for people who are mad that sometimes the appointment goes "how are you feeling? Good, here's your refill," THAT'S A GOOD THING. If you're not having an issue that needs an adjustment then getting in and out with your refill means it must be WORKING and you should CONTINUE TO DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING. One thing some reviewers don't seem to understand--some mental illness cannot be treated by therapy alone. The nature of the beast is being on medication. You don't get to be mad that it's a "med farm" when medication /is exactly what you need./ The whole point in going in is to /get medication./ That IS getting help. There is no cure that will make you just not need meds ever again. Do some research, get realistic expectations, and stop blaming your doctors for doing their jobs. I say this, by the way, as a very mentally ill person who is well managed and happy thanks to the "med farm" the rest of you guys can't seem to come to grips with. Do some research on how your illness is treated for yourself, and I think you'll realize how good Porter's treatment actually is. Now, one issue I have had is that if you call with a question and have to leave a message, they can be slow to respond. I've had one call where I never got a response and one where I got one right away, but they're amazing in appointments so I put up with it. It's the only reason I wouldn't give 5/5 stars.
I have had negative experiences with other clinics but have had only positive experiences with Emily Z. I feel that she really cares about my wellbeing. The building itself is a bit run down but I can deal with that !

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
