Tennyson Center For Children's Online Review Report Card

Not happy. They are housing, not helping. Granddaughter has "gone on run" multiple times and has been in danger. Staff has no control over the children. Kids are medicated with no diagnosis and no growth or learning skills for behavior modification are being taught at a measurable level. Very disappointing.

Good afternoon, Readers.I am writing to you to express my disdain regarding the incompetence of the management team and staff at the Tennyson Center for Children from the perspective of a youth treatment counselor (YTC). By the time you are done reading, you will have an in-depth perspective of your potential tenure at the psychiatric treatment facility so that you can make an informed decision about whether to work here and whether to send your children here.I am a current employee. I can say definitively that the management team rank as the most incompetent, vindictive and jealous individuals I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Although it is not indicative of all members of the management team, it is enough to cause substantial friction high rate of turnover. For example, as a Ph.D. /M.D. candidate, I was welcomed by senior management as being a “breath of fresh air” in comparison to the vacuous imbeciles they tend to employ. With little experience, I am confident, ready to do my job and intelligent. They were also willing to work around my work school schedule, which was pleasant. However, a certain member, a supervisor, seemingly took issue with this circumstance and seemed to think of it as preferential treatment. I was micromanaged, mistreated and omitted from pertinent conversations out of spite. This was detrimental to both me and the supervisor.For example, during one evening shift, a rather disturbed client proceeded to physically assault staff members. Although three physically-capable women, who are certified to therapeutically restrain belligerent clients were present, all three staff members, including the supervisor, were left with injuries that required hospitalization. I was not informed of this client’s level of acuity and penchant for violence. Although others did, they were too incompetent to protect themselves, other staff members and fellow children.This is a normal occurrence around the facility. This facility has a rate of attrition comparable to many factory jobs. Since I have entered in my resignation letter, three others have resigned. These are the last two weeks… This is due to vacuity, jealousy, lack of education, self-centeredness and a myriad of other reasons that will lead this organization to be out of ratio soon.To fellow peers following their educational pursuits. Do not apply here. Do not work here. Do not volunteer here. You will be disappointed and likely end up with a concussion, black eye, busted lip or extreme disgust for simply wasting your time. This is undoubtedly due to the level of incompetence of staff members and, unfortunately, the need of professional services and likely institutionalizations of their own. This is not an atmosphere that draws upon common schools of thought in therapy, psychology and psychiatry. They barely have their heads above water and are sinking quickly. Do not go down with them.

We’ve had a relationship with Tennyson for several years. Our son attended the Tennyson school this last year and he seemed to make progress. We met with his therapist frequently and she said he was making progress. I received a call on the Friday prior to the Monday start date from Rebecca D. (head of admissions) letting me know that my son wasn’t going to be enrolled in the fall. I asked Rebecca to clarify, since school starts on Monday. She said a letter was sent out informing us of this months ago and that they had let DPS know at the same time. They did send us a letter but it was post marked August 12th, which is the same day they notified the school he wasn’t going to be enrolled. I tried to get a straight answer from Rebecca, but she really wouldn’t give much information. She said they had a recent change to their board and their values weren’t in line with our values. I kept trying to get her to clarify by what she mean’t by “values” and she would only say not a good fit. My partner and I are aware the Tennyson is a Christian school, but had been told that it shouldn’t be a problem. Ultimately, we were able to get our son settled elsewhere, but Tennyson really soured us and caused some setbacks with our son’s progress. I felt the school went out of it’s way to punish our son because they didn’t want same sex parents moral misconduct to hurt the school’s reputation. Tennyson failed our son and want prospective parents to be aware of their current practices.

My son, goes to this Tennyson center school all I can say is Wow! He gets so much help teachers treat him as there own child. I'm so thankful for this place if I could I would rate 10 STARS.. My son improved so much from this school. I recommend this school to all and everyone who need the help... I'm forever grateful for this school they are the best, you will not be disappointed!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart that's how awesome this place is.Class 204

Having my son go to Tennyson center was the best decision that I gave ever made, such a great place they make you feel like there's hope for all kids, also they treat your child as there own child. I reccomend this place to all and everyone.This is #1 in Colorado 100% better then any public school out there. We are forever thankful and see so many gains for our dear son. We love you Tennyson center for children. I rate them 10 stars!!! You will not be disappointed, take my word for it and you'll thank me later. This place is absolutely wonderful my child is so happy to attend this school.

I've been volunteering up there for years and this place is great! I've gotten to know many of the staff and kids And I can't think of a better place to support with contributions and/or volunteer work!

My son has suicidal tendencies because of this nut house

Staff suck, they don't listen and if your child is not completely acute, the staff act as though they are invisible.
