List of Timothy J Birney's Reviews
Dr Timothy Birney did a fusion on my back. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Also great bedside manner. Communication was wonderful.
Dr. Birney is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon with great knowledge of spine disorders. He is thoughtful, empathetic, resourceful and trustworthy; he is a proponent of conservative treatments, which I really appreciate because I have had bad experiences before where a doctor tried to push something extreme/unnecessary, and Dr. Birney has never done that. He's a huge proponent of overall lifestyle/physical therapy, and I've learned so much from him in how to manage my chronic back conditions and pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Birney to all of my family and friends.
Dr. Birney at Western Orthopaedics was an exceptional doctor for my back problems. He thoroughly explained why I was experiencing repeated lower back pain, went over my x-rays, showed great care for my well-being and took the time to go through all of the exercises I should be performing for physical therapy. I am grateful I found him and this practice.
Dr Birney is thorough in the examination as well as explaining the diagnosis and treatments. He is very personable and never pushy about decisions that need to be made. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. And he is a genuinely nice person. He is backed up by a great group of doctors and staff.
Barbara, his scheduler, is very unpleasant and rude. Dr. Birney is great, but in order to get to him you have to go through Miss Nasty. We have had to deal with her on several occasions and acturall dread having to talk with her. There must be a nicer people out there who could do a better job of complimenting Dr. Birney's great personality.
Dr. Birney understands his patients pain, their hopes for regaining their lives. As a dog breeder, trainer and handler it is imperative that I have the ability to twist and bend. The use of flexible fusion is allowing me the chance to continue doing what I love. Dr. Birney gives me hope, compassion and caring.
I recently had an L3 to Sacrum decompression performed by Dr. Birney. The surgery and the post-op results have been excellent. I have found Dr. Birney to be a very good listener and am very comfortable with talking to him about my surgery and my recovery. I have no qualms about recommending him to others for orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Birney did surgery on my back and did great, Now I have to have surgery again , But it is for a injury I had , What he done made me feel pain free for year;s, The reason he doing it this time is that he is very knowledgeable at what he dose, I would recommend him highly to any one,
Amazing surgical skills.
DR. BIRNEY IS AMAZING!!! Five stars isn't enough for him-honestly. He did my back surgery in 1994 when I was only 17 years old, after my dad and I were in a near fatal car accident. I ended up needing a spinal fusion on L2-L5 which required 2 six inch rods and 4 screws, as well as one of my discs shaved off. He was always calm and gentle when he spoke to us, and answered ALL of our questions! Thanks to Dr. Birney, only 5 months after my spinal fusion I was able to play college volleyball, as I had been planning on doing before our accident. Since I was so young he said that my back & hardware may need to be tweaked later on in life. It's been 20 years since my surgery, and I'm now coaching volleyball, as well as still playing volleyball. It's only been recently that I've started to feel some discomfort in my back. I live in MI now, and will be calling Dr. Birney to get a phone consultation with him, as he's the only one I trust with my back! He's a sweet man and a miracle worker!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
