One of the best doctors I have visited. As a female my gynecological problems were brushed off for over 12 years. No one wanted to believe that something could be wrong, instead countless doctors told me that all my symptoms were just what females have to go through in life. Dr. Edwards actually took the time to listen to me and agreed 100% that what I was dealing with was abnormal and more tests needed to be done. He was sure to let me know that he's not a gyno and usually would refer out for things of this nature but given my past experiences he would do what he could to get me answers and to a gyno who would believe me. He did exactly that and 2 years later I've been diagnosed and treated and have my life back. He helped empower me that I wasn't crazy or making things up. My pain was real and he was the first doctor to validate that for me.

Very old school physician, which isn't bad but is limited in communication and over all equipment. The doctor does take his time with patient, which is good and bad. On one end you get time with the doctor and you might talk about a lot of probability of diagnoses. On the other hand, if you're in the waiting room you're probably going to have a waiting period of over an hour past your appointment time; and no, I am not exaggerating at all.They're are really bad in returning calls or giving you results, unless you make an appointment. You wont get lab results unless you make an appointment. If you want a copy of the results, you will have to go in. Most outside service companies, such as labs, imaging, and so forth know this doctor and describe him as questionable. For labs, you will get every test you need or don't and that's good. But, as stated above you are not provided with the results so easily. Hope this helps.Good luck!

This is a long time coming. Every time I come here I wait one to two hours before being seen. I complained to the receptionist and she smiled (like she had heard this many timesbefore) and told me this is how he runs his office. It is totally unacceptable to me to have to wait such a long time EVERYTIME. I've come here many times and it's the same wait time every time. My husband is also seen here and also waits the same amount of time. I would say between the two of us we have been here over 20 times and have waited the same 1-2 hours each and everytime. Unacceptable!!

I could not ask for a more knowledgeable, thoughtful, educated, and kind doctor than Dr. James L. Edwards. My husband and I have been patients for 30 years, and not once have we encountered ANY negative behavior. Dr. Edwards has listened carefully to every medical issue both my husband and I have had, and has always come up with a positive solution. He is very cordial, patient, and ready to offer an opinion that quiets our fears and concerns. I/we highly recommend such a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated doctor. Anyone reading this review will be lucky to have someone like Dr. Edwards in your life!!

I absolutely love this doctor and his staff. I've visited twice recently and each appointment I felt like for the first time in quite some time, I'm visiting a real doctor: a doctor who takes the time to sit with you, discuss the issue in detail, ask thorough questions. I was pleasantly shocked because all of my more recent med visits to other doctors are always rushed. I highly recommend this team.

Wow I have to respond to one of the reviews that I read also. NOT true about Dr. Edwards at all! He's never rude to patients. He is a great doctor! Yeah the wait can be a little long but that's because he takes his time with each and every patient. He doesn't rush to get you in and out like some doctors do! Patients need to realize when you have a big practice with only one doctor, everything can't be done The exact moment that the patients are expecting it. And the review about the kidneys my friend needed a kidney transplant and if Dr. Edwards didn't run the labs that he needed to! and catch it in time!!! my friend wouldn't be here today! Dr. Edward saved his life. Dr. Edwards is a good man/Doctor highly recommended

Dr Edwards has been a great doctor so far. Every issue I have had he has helped me with and he is thoughtful, positive and knowledgeable. He listens to my concerns and he has been very thorough and effective! His office is comfortable and there is coffee while you wait, with nice comfy couches to sit on, as well as chairs. The negative review I read prompted me to write a positive for Dr Edwards because I have experienced the complete opposite- and from impressions just on the personality of the author of the review, the person sounds petty, self centered and selfish, nasty, loud, disgruntled, negative and rude. Reminds me of someone who treats waiters and waitresses like crap just because they can... not because they actually had bad service. In any case, you cant go wrong with Dr Edwards. I definitely recommend him.

I can't review this doctor, as I didn't even get through the new patient paperwork.When I made the appointment, I wasn't informed of their ridiculous policy regarding insurance cards. Apparently they require his name to be on the insurance card - even if you're a new patient. They claim this is due to insurance companies not paying if the name isn't his. Seriously? Are they stupid or just narcissists? I've been to a lot of doctors and not a single one has ever made such insane claims. They've all been paid. Oh, and I've studied in medical billing guys. That's NOT how it works, sorry.So their policy is basically - get a new insurance card for a doctor you're not even sure you want, pay entirely cash, or get out. On top of that, the office is dingy and slightly creepy. Maybe it's just because it looks to be an older building, but it's so dark inside. Dark walls, dark ceiling, dark floors, dark seating. You walk in and at first glance, you wonder if you've made a mistake.Oh, and apparently this doctor feels entitled to charging extra fees for doing his job. $15 to have disability paperwork filled out. Then there are services that make you question legality - "jury duty excuse letter" - $15. So does he just sign off on duty excuses for anyone willing to pay $15? And you're seriously going to charge disabled patients a fee so they can get access to benefits/tools to assist them? Don't waste your breath or money on this practice, especially if you are disabled.

Doctor Edwards was our family doctor for many, many years, even when my son moved out he still went to Doctor Edwards. When my son passed away at the age of 27, Doctor Edwards came to his funeral, this was an amazing act of kindness. About Dr. James Edwards.I'm not a big yelper, this is my first review, but when I see a few negative reviews here I am compelled to speak. Thus say I.This board certified physician is a superb GP physician. I've been a patient for more than 14 years, on and off ,depending on insurance and location, since the 80's. When I'm lucky enough to get him I am grateful. He listens. He hears. He cares. He has courage, i have seen it. . He respects patient choices, yet can be minimalist or aggressive in treatment when the situation and patient requires. He knows how and when to refer to specialists. I'm educated (with two graduate degrees in different fields) and old enough to collect social security. To say I've had my share of idiot physicians is an understatement, although there are also many excellent physicians. Just got to find them. Edwards is one of the superb varieties. Alas I've a stack of medical problems, serous ones, complicated ones, not complaining, I see others I would not trade places with. I'm especially grateful for the fact that, by a conservative count, he has pulled me back from the brink of catastrophe (certain and difficult death) at least twice, when others have failed. . Hard not to be a fan. But this review is not about being a fan, it is about COMPETENCE. Dr. Edwards has it.Now, personalities may vary, the quality of care also depends on being able to communicate with the physician. That is a two way street. If you have unreasonable expectations and a tendency to attack, quibble, or not listen, you may need to find someone that will treat you like a mushroom while cooing soothing pleasantries in you ear. There are lots of those around. Dr Edwards is intelligent, pleasant and courteous, knows his stuff, takes time needed with patients (he requests only one problem per visit, for the benefit of other waiting patients, but I regularly violate that rule and he copes, but I try to be efficient about it. Just plain courtesy, is all). PS if he asks for a specific date,its because he has a good medical reason for knowing it. Anyone looking for a hack, or preferring answers from rolling some chicken bones, I know such practitioners abound. If you want an analytical mind that can diagnose and treat problems based on medically relevant facts and sound medical practices, then see Edwards (or don't because then he will have more time for sorting my problems). PPS. When a physician sends you out for a test, like scanning for kidney stones, another physician does the test and reports. If the report says "no kidney stones" the treating physician would have to be an incompetent idiot to tell you you have them. Seriously. If another test says different, the issue may be with the testing,not the treating physician.However, Reporting delay is not acceptable, but may not be caused by physician... maybe report wasn't sent to right place. A guess. It happens. The receptionist delay is a good clue. Edward staff are also outstanding, AND efficient. Edwards has always been prompt with my results.
