List of Kian A. Modanlou's Reviews
Went to Dr. Modanlou for a bi-literal inguinal hernia repair, and it was an excellent experience from consultation to surgery to recovery. He answered all my questions thoroughly, and really helped to put my mind at ease. Recovery went exactly as he described it, and I really got the sense that he's done this hundreds of times. I'd highly recommend visiting him for any hernia repair. UPDATE: It's been 7 months post-op. I've been back to all activities at 95-100% for the past 3-4 months.
In addition to being an excellent and highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Modanlou has the best bedside manor I've ever encountered in any surgeon or physician. He is informative, kind, concerned, and superb at communicating what to expect. I recommend him without reservation. He removed several lymph nodes for test purposes, but if I ever need a general surgeon for any other procedure in the future, he will be my first choice. He's truly the gold standard, as were hhis office staff.
I sought out Dr. Modanlou as a 2nd opinion. I am a 36 year old female with 3 hernias (2 Inguinal and 1 femoral). I have a baby at home and plans to have more. He was helpful, kind, considerate, and super receptive to any concerns I had with caring for my baby and recovering from surgery. I was able to get in for the consult and surgery very quickly. He was thoughtful about the surgical approach and my recovery was really as easy as it could be. I will without a doubt go back and see him if anything comes up in the future.
I love being able to give good reviews and really dislike when I need to give a poor review. Dr. Modanlou has so many wonderful 5 star reviews that I was very excited to have an appt. with him in regards to having my gallbladder removed. Dr. Modanlou at best will answer your questions but responds with very short answers that aren’t always correct but rather his opinion. When I see a doctor of any kind I would like medical facts and not an opinion when asking medical questions. Such as being told that stomach indigestion is a trash can term and not a real illness…when I told him I was having body gas, acidity in my mouth upon awaking and just an over all burning feeling in my uppers abdomen and made mention of perhaps it’s under the term of stomach indigestion that is when he said no that would be a trash can term. I was taken back some…but was really taken back when he made no suggestions in helping me go over my concerns. It was as if I was asking all the questions and getting no answers. I was told literally - The surgery went great, there were no issues at all, your gallbladder came back negative of malignancy and can you stand and raise your shirt so I can see your incisions. I did so and then was told they look great, there would be no reason for another appointment and to have a good day. After surgery in PACU which is where you go to recover I remember waking up out of the blue in massive pain and looked at the nurse and told her this was the worst surgery I’d ever had. I will just say I have had to have a few of them and have always done well afterwards with pain control. I ended up having to go to the ER via ambulance that night after surgery. Dr. Mondanlou called me back that evening at home after I called the help line. When he called he asked me what was going on and I told him about the gas in my chest and back causing me so much pain that I could not stop vomiting, that it was causing me to be short of breath because of taking breaths in was very painful and that I was not able to take my medications due to them not staying down - to which he responded with that would have nothing to do with the surgery and if you feel you need to go to the ER than do so. Let’s just say no bedside manner will you be getting from this doctor. Apparently the ER had tried to contact him as well and he never responded to them. Being sick and scared after a surgery that should have been so easy to recover from and having a Doctor that does not care or have empathy for his patients only makes the entire recovery process worse. Perhaps he just did not like me? It has crossed my mind so many times because of all his other reviews being so positive. If someone looked at me they would perhaps make the assumption that I am gay. It could be as simple as he dislikes the way I appear to look. What I do know is he didn’t even get close to look at the incisions or touch where they are located at all as well. I believe that if you want to become a doctor you have to know that you will get every type of human out there and that you must put aside any and all prejudices. I am a very friendly person, I am from the south and so I am full of manners. I wished I could give a different review but the facts are facts and I cannot. Hopefully this review helps others and perhaps the doctor will review it and see it for what it is. ****** As Dr. Mondanlou replied to this review he did make mention of me talking to my primary doctor after I had told him about the increase of acidity, body gas and burning not a specialist. I do have one though, a Gastroenterologist that I’ve seen over 10yrs now. Even more degrading is the fact he talked about Patient and Doctor therapeutic bond? That is exactly what I am talking about there was no conflict on my behalf so for you to announce that there was only shows it was on your behalf. It’s a shame that you replied in the way you did. I have several specialist who work with me due to my multi complication system and they do so with no problems.
Dr Modanlou did a great job with my hernia surgery. My recovery time was short. I felt ready to go back to work the next day, though took a week off. He thoroughly answered and explained all my questions preop. If I ever have to have another surgery and Dr Modanlou does that type, I will have him do it. His office staff was great as well.
Dr. Modanlou came highly recommended and he didn't disappoint. He performed hernia surgery on me a few weeks ago, and I am well on my way to recovery with minimal pain or discomfort. I'm looking forward to returning to the gym very soon thanks to Dr. Modanlou. He thoroughly explained the procedure and took the time to answer all of my questions in detail before and after the procedure. It didn't take long to realize that he's a skilled doctor/surgeon and probably one of the finest in the area. His cool and calm demeanor put me at ease. His office staff are friendly and helpful as well. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Dr. Modanlou!!
Dr. Modanlou is simply amazing. I have been blessed to have him for two life threatening events. In December 2018 he saved me by flawlessly performing the Whipple procedure. The odds weren't good but due to his skill and God's blessing I survived. This past November-December 2022 I required Dr. Modanlou's expertise once again. He saved my life once again by performing an extremely difficult abdominal surgery. My still being here is a testament to his skill & dedication to his patients. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Dr. Modanlou.
Great experience and man. Was on my feet within hours of robotic surgery and hit every benchmark Dr. Modanlou expected for me.
Dr. Modanlou represents what healthcare should be, in his professionalism, skill, cutting-edge techniques and bedside manner. I had consulted with him a few months ago, intending to have a gallbladder removal when I was done breastfeeding (gallstones were a gift of my pregnancy). Unfortunately, not long before that planned procedure, a gallbladder attack turned into an emergency situation requiring immediate removal. The hospital had me hooked up with some great surgeons, but I requested Dr. Modanlou by name, who upon learning I was hospitalized, rearranged his schedule for the next business day to do my surgery - if that isn't impeccable customer service, I don't know what is. I'm very grateful. He is nationally known for his work with robotics, and teaches the next generation how to use these techniques to pay it forward. Doesn't hurt that his pre-op/OR is Gucci :) He also takes his time addressing all your questions and putting you at complete ease, making me laugh and calming my nerves before surgery. Lastly, while vanity is the least important part of this, I had made a request in a consult months ago about where my incisions would be and he remembered that without any reminder from me. I am now only 24 hours post surgery, in minimal pain and only needing over the counter meds. As a tech executive who leads sales and customer success teams, I am incredibly discerning when it comes to customer service and have high standards for my medical care, and Dr. Modanlou is an A+++ doc and human.
Dr. Modanlou is a miracle worker and overall just a cool dude! I needed my gallbladder removed and within a week postop I am feeling so much better. Dr. Modanlou was swift, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. He has great bedside manners and the surgery is minimally invasive. This guy is legit.
