List of Matthew T. Purvis's Reviews
I'm trying to decide whether to stay with this doctor. For the most part, I did receive what I felt like was competent information about my care and next steps. However, this doctor does not have good bedside manners and he can be disrespectful - e.g. cutting you off mid-sentence or just ignoring your question or even just getting up to and walking towards the door to end the appointment. It almost felt like he really doesn't want to treat patients up close nor is he interested in developing any rapport whatsoever with patients. I realize he's somewhat of a specialist and wants to stay in his "lane" but he's not a caring doctor at all.
Met Dr. Mathew and her team for the first time today. I walked into the meeting depressed about my diagnosis and pessimistic about my survival. I left with a completely different outlook and with total confidence that she had a plan and that we all have the weapons we need to beat this thing. I can’t explain what a difference this made for me and my family.
Couldn't there be 6 stars? Dr. Mathew is kind, respectful, has excellent diagnostic skills and REALLY listens! She literally saved my life and I can't thank her enough. When you are in her office, she takes her time. I've never felt rushed or dismissed. I am so thankful for Dr. Mathew.
After dozens of tests and waiting in the hospital 2 days for Dr. Purvis to talk to me, he showed very little interest in answering any questions I had. He told me to save them for my primary care doctor.
Got the impression she thought she was better than smarter than and an authority over me.
I found Dr Matthew extremely informative and very easy to understand. Dr Matthew explained her thoughts and concerns hence, our time together put me at ease and left me very relaxed. She reviewed my record, showing me that she is concerned for me and my condition. I feel very lucky to have her as my Physician!!
I have had many visits with Dr Purvis. I can not recommend him enough. He was always professional, took time to answer questions and was very genuine with caring about my care. I never had to wait long when I had appointment. Very informed/smart.
My father has been a patient of Dr. Purvis for years. He has been in twice recently, once this week and Dr. Purvis decided nothing is going on, he is fine for an 85 year old man. However today the pulmonologist actually bothered to look at my Dad's extremely swollen ankles and his weight gain that appears to be water, and is concerned about increased heart failure. He is going to work with another cardiologist to look for answers and solutions. Dr. Purvis did not seem to care.
Has always been very respectful and pleasant, explains things well, answers my questions well, referred me appropriately when I needed a renal artery stent, & though he didn't hear anything abnormal during a recent visit to see him, he listened to me explain a concern my family practice Dr had when listening to my heart, and Dr. Purvis followed up with a test that diagnosed a heart condition, which he then explained very thoroughly and well. I completely trust his judgement as a cardiologist.
Does not communicate well. Does not have time to answer basic questions. Generally condescending and paternalistic.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
