It has been a stressful week. We were in ER Friday after a cbc showed a critically low white count. The nurses were nice; the doctor was adequate in his work but unimpressive in his manner. He reminded me of a wet dishrag. Then we met w/ a hematologist/oncologist the next week. He was professional, but had the "bedside" manner of a McDonald's drive-up window clerk. We're talking about a potentially serious situation, and he showed absolutely zero compassion. We were able to get the bone biopsy he ordered scheduled for the next day. Our doctor there was Dr. Pacini. We immediately felt comfortable with him. We weren't a "bone biopsy;" we were people, and he recognized that we were in a scary situation. He did what he could to comfort us, and was also proficient and professional in his work (my wife said the biopsy was almost painless). He took the time after the procedure to come and speak to me, which was very much appreciated. My most sincere apologies and best wishes to anyone for being in need of Dr. Pacini, but I can assure you that if you are, you will be in very good hands.
