Dr. Carline was amazing! Best anesthesia experience I've ever had, I felt truly cared for and listened to. When I woke up from surgery I was a bit emotional and told her "thank you, you remind me of my mom and that was really comforting" I learned after the fact that my mom, Zeta (who was previously an OR RN) has known her for years, and agrees that Dr. Carline is an amazing person and doctor all around!

Dr Carline was my anesthesiologist for a procedure (colonoscopy) last Wednesday 12/23/2020. She came in to my prep "room" at PVH and in a very professional and safe (as it relates to CoVid) manner explained exactly what she would be doing and the history of the method. She discussed the benefits and the overall safety and any risks. We thoroughly reviewed my health history and how that is considered by anesthesiologists. In today's world I especially appreciated that she backed away a safe distance and showed me her face as that is important in my opinion. After my procedure there was no groggy after affects and I felt 100% (as if I had no anesthesia) within 10 minutes. Thanks for a pleasant experience.

She explained the procedure but when I told her that I did not want any extra Medication she put it in my IV as they were taking me into surgery anyway. That was against patients rights and it was not necessary! She went against my will and my families. Over medicating. I would never want her again or any of my family to have her she cant be trusted to her word!!!

I asked to discuss my anesthesia ahead of time but Dr. Carline did not respond. She did not explain which kinds of anesthesia were available and why, and didn't warn that the device she used would hurt my throat for days, making chewing impossible and swallowing difficult. She also failed to warn that post-surgical pain control I wanted would take 50 agonizing minutes to work after surgery and my family would not be allowed in. We were all very upset.

Dr. Carline did not call ahead as I asked, to discuss my surgery. She did not want to use the anesthesia my PCP and I had preferred, although in retrospect it would have worked better. She did not explain why the choices were spinal, but not epidural, vs propofol. The pain management she provided post-surgery took 50 minutes to work, leaving me in great pain, and my family was not allowed in to give me support during that time. She failed to warn me about that. She failed to mention that my jaw and throat would hurt for days after the surgery due to the device that kept my airway open; I still can't chew normally two days later. During our discussion before surgery, she spent most of the telling us about her own health issues, and about a case similar to mine that ended in a very bad outcome. This was upsetting to me and my family. Under no circumstances would I use her again, or recommend her to anyone else.

She is hilarious and fun. Put me at ease. As for her skill, I slept through the whole procedure which is the whole point.
