List of Lakewood Endoscopy Center's Reviews
The billing system is terrible. They demand we pay before the procedure. We were over charged. Trying to get this money back has been a nightmare.
Medical performance was acceptable, no issues there. But I was quoted $1100 when I called to schedule appointment and paid $1100 when I arrived day of procedure. A month later, I receive two additional bills for $500 and $400 in the mail. When I called to ask what for, they explained it is in the fine print that the office only quotes you for their charge, there also is a medical charge and an anesthesia charge as well. So if you want decent medical help and surprise billing, this is the place to go!
My very first colonoscopy and this center was amazing. The receptionist was very nice and the perfect person to be at the front desk checking you in. Nurses Bonnie and Cathy had such great bedside manner. The entire staff made me feel super comfortable and I would recommend them to anyone needing this procedure. Great staff and terrific experience. Thank you so much.
This business is the perfect example of why support staff is really and important part of an enterprise! The star rating represents the average. The doctors and nurses that I encountered were just great, with cheerful, kind, professional, and welcoming attitudes. And if one could somehow slip by the scheduling and the billing folks it would be as good an experience as one can have in a not particularly exciting part of one's medical care. But the scheduling, with rude folks, delayed call-backs, and difficulty in contacting made the preparation for the event less than good. The business end of this operation belongs in the record book for either incompetence or lack of diligence. I received my first bill, after which I waited for the confirmation from my insurance that they had paid what the bill represented, and in just over a week received a PAST DUE notice from the provider with the lead-in line of "we show your account seriously past due" below the headline of **PAST DUE** on the top. I checked with Aetna, they had sent out the EOB, and told me that the amount billed was correct. At this time I paid the bill. By return mail, I received the following: "We have attempted to work with you in clearing up this delinquent account. We are now notifying you that the account and all rebilling charges will be turned over to our private debt collection agency." All this outlined in red below a **FINAL NOTICE** heading also outlined in red.Nice...Your "private debt collection"? So you are going to send Guido and your guys over and break my knees?!!After deciding that, rather than have my own goons stand by at my door awaiting the arrival of theirs, I would go through the laborious process of using the telephone contact number, followed by prompts, followed by fifteen minutes of waiting listening to lousy music, and eventually talking to a person who sounded as if she was in a rain barrel speaking through a hose. She did, after a good deal of research discover that the bill was paid. Like I say... a good support operation is really necessary for the operation to look strong, and, in this case it was a no-show!
Is getting a throat endoscopy fun?? Probably not. But if you do, this is the place. The nurses are delightful!! From the time you walk in, you’re in good hands. So professional yet fun…does this sound crazy?? Well, it’s true. They are the best!! Dr. McKenzie and his staff are pros. I’ve never had such a good time, having a throat scope. I do need a follow up. However, I’m actually NOT dreading it. 😀
Every staff member was great. Efficient organization. Remarkably easy experience. Their communication skills are flawless.
This experience was nothing short of awful. I scheduled my procedure and filled out the "medical passport" with all information, including height and weight from a previous PCP visit from two months ago. They did not get a current height or weight and decided to go off of old information. They did not inform me when they called me 3 times prior to my procedure that they had a BMI limit of 45, even though the referral came from a BARIATRIC surgeon. My BMI was 46.1 with old information. I'll admit, I was highly upset because I had already paid for the procedure and gotten appropriately dressed. The doctor, who was incredibly nice, came in and spoke to me and informed me of the situation and said they would not be able to perform the procedure, again I'll admit I was highly upset and not too kind so I apologize. However, I requested for them to get current vitals - my BMI was then 41.3. They went ahead and completed the procedure and everything went smoothly with no issues. While in recovery, I had a different RN - Maureen. I had not worked with her, yet still apologized for the situation. She said the following "it's okay, I'm sure you already get fat shamed enough, right?" She was very insensitive and very rude. I likely would not have posted this if I didn't have such a insensitive bitch as my recovery RN.
Both my husband and I greatly appreciate the doctors and staff at this location. They are wonderful and caring. However, the billing department has some serious process issues and for this, I am giving 1 star. We were charged before service $447 (pay up front), however, our insurance covered and paid 100%. The $447 was never posted to our account or refunded. After countless hours trying to resolve, leaving messages into black holes, no return calls, we had to escalate. Nine (yes 9) months later, we did receive a refund.
I saw Dr Lattimore for my first colonoscopy. The anesthesiologist, Jennifer did a great job, and Adrian was very friendly and put me at ease. Dr. Lattimore did a great job, I was shocked how smooth everything went. Kelly B helped in the recovery area, and is very nice. Good experience for something most people don’t want to do! Highly recommend this center.
I had to repeat the prep because the clinic PA didn’t listen to me describing how the prep may not work because I’ve been taking laxatives since childhood. So, I had to REDO all of the prep now with two days of prep! Before and after the procedure, I asked for guidance on the chronic constitution, painful bowel movements and stomach cramps. The only info shared was that I didn’t have polyps, they remove some hemorrhoids, and everything else looks great. So no info about my concerns regarding my bowel health! The nurse told me as I was leaving that a prescription for some cream was called in. When I asked which pharmacy because I have three, she asked us to call all of them to see which had received it. I did that and two days post procedure, no prescription had bend received. Last week, I shared all of this with someone who called to check in. She was friendly and assured me that someone would be reaching out said that someone would contact me. When someone called, she said that she couldn’t really help and advised that I call the main number to schedule a follow up. I’m dreading this call because I’ll have to justify why I need to see the actual doctor. I reminded every person that I came into contact with at your practice to please take a quick look at my complicated history. Clearly, no one did.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
