Mark Helm's Online Review Report Card

When you make an appointment with Dr. Helm, they don't tell you that you are actually seeing a Physician's Assistant with a bad attitude. Dr. Helm is ALWAYS "out of town". His PA misdiagnosed me twice, to the tune of about $300.00. I expressed my unhappiness about not being told my appointment was with her and not Dr. Helm, and she told me I MUST HAVE been told because that is "their policy". When I insisted that I had never been told unless I remembered to ask, she actually raised her voice to talk over me, "We tell everybody! THAT'S our policy!" One of my friends goes to Texas for eye care and two others go to Denver because of Dr. Helm having his PA run his practice. I should have listened to them. When I checked out, I asked for a copy of my bill to see the itemized charges and was told that the bookkeeper was out and all I could get was a receipt. REALLY????? She said she would mail me a copy of my bill later. Gee thanks. If you need to see a MEDICAL DOCTOR for eye care, leave town. If you need a routine eye exam, go to any experienced local optometrist; you'll probably get less expensive, better care.

The staff was very helpful to me when I was visiting.

My apt. was set for 1620 hours and I drove to see Dr. Olsen however, I missed the turn off. One of the ladies came to my rescue & escorted right to their door (how sweet was that!) Dr. Olsen was very calming & eased my fears placed by another Dr. he's exceptional in his Field & I'll return to him and I highly recomend Him. I'd also have cata- rac surgery done over there so he can do your after care. His assistant was very kind & knowledgeable (she even walked out to my vehicle in the dark.)

I was referred to the Helm Eye Center, Dr. Helm and Dr. Hamburger. I had an eye issue, that was one of their specialities. Upon entering into the office, it was very clean and comforting. The front desk was polite and helped get my paperwork done. I saw Dr. Hamburger, this guy is great, and really made me feel comfortable. He acted very professionally and made sure my visit was curative and painless. My eye is was resolved and I couldn't be more happy. I would highly recommend The Helm Eye Center.

While Dr. Helm is super, the front office has little to be desired. They are extremely rude, unwelcoming, and make you feel like you’re wasting their time. We come from over an hour away and upon finishing the appointment, we were told we had to make a separate appointment to ORDER lenses?!?! That’s why I’m there! Sad to leave for the doc, but can’t handle being treated this way.

They have always been great to me and my foster children. Would definitely would recommend.

Professional and kind service, even over the holidays when they seemed busy and a bit backed up. Good prescription and honest service, wouldn't hesitate to come here again once my Rx is up.

Dr. Helm and the entire staff are professional, knowledgeable, caring and down-to-earth, for both my 12-year old and me. Dr. Helm performed my cataract surgery in 2017: the surgery and post-treatment were excellent, and I've been very happy with the results. I visited another eye office recently (insurance covered my glasses there). This other doctor called my attention to an issue for which I went to Dr. Helm for a second opinion. Dr. Helm's skill, experience and knowledge saved me a lot of worry and some tedious trips out of Steamboat, and have definitely convinced me that I will not go anywhere else again.
