List of John C. Kefer's Reviews
I offer this review of Dr. Kefer in the hope that it might help those who are considering a urolift procedure. Like many men, I was anxious and reticent to have any type of urological procedure despite having an enlarged prostate and the accompanying symptoms that included getting up frequently at night. Prior to recommending the urolift procedure, Dr Kefer conducted a series of tests that all pointed to its appropriateness for my case. Dr Kefer reviewed the diagnostic tests with me, discussed the other options, recommended urolift, answered all of my questions and assured me that urolift would have a tremendously positive impact on my life. He was right! It has now been three weeks since I had the procedure. I have no pain, no burning sensation and fantastic sleep, just getting up once or twice a night. I opted for and highly recommend general anesthesia. The first three days after the procedure were uncomfortable but quite tolerable and within a week I was only feeling minor discomfort. I found Dr Kefer to be an excellent doctor and a gifted surgeon. I'm grateful for his outstanding care. Better yet, I'm extremely pleased with the results of the urolift procedure that has made a remarkable improvement in my quality of life.
Absolute worst service ever. My husband got a vasectomy and is experiencing complications. Follow up care is a joke. As someone else put it, the doctor is good, the office is a train wreck. My husband has been calling for days and messaging through the patient portal with no response. "Call and make an appointment" trying but they won't see him until October, over a month away, this isn't something that can wait. We're having the exact same issues as someone just mentioned in an earlier review. If you want a doctor you can actually get ahold of DO NOT use these people.
Just celebrated the 4 year anniversary of my radical proctectomy performed by Dr. Kefer. This is my sixth year under the care of Dr. Kefer (2 yrs under active surveillance, 4 years post op). Dr. Kefer is a fundamentally great human being with exceptional clinical and surgical skills. If you are considering prostate surgery, I know the associated stress and concern. The side effects of the surgery for me have been non-existent and I remain cancer free. I have much gratitude for Dr. Kefer, he totally exceeded my expectations.
I had a radial Prostatectomy last August and here I am almost 1 year later. Dr Kefer and I had thorough discussions and he set expectations across the board before my surgery to make the best and most informed decision. I am 60 yrs old and this cancer and surgery was a HUGE deal and decision. Dr Kefer's specialty in research at Cleveland Clinic was in the area of micro dissection of nerves. He gave me huge confidence that he was an expert in this area and would preserve practically all of my nerve bundles. And any urinary control issues would be short lived, and with robotic surgery my recovery time would be quick. I want to share that he exceeded my expectations in EVERY area. This type of surgery requires serious expertise and your outcome is 100% a function of the doctor/surgeon you choose. I can say unequivocally that Dr Kefer is the best urologist/surgeon you could ever choose for this surgery (or any other procedure). You are in excellent hands and you should be worry-free!
I was referred to Dr. John Kefer when I found out I had prostate cancer. It was the best referral of my life. He is an excellent physician and surgeon and knows his stuff. He answered all my questions, relieved any fears, and was with me through the entire experience. His approach in dealing with the cancer was very thorough and selected to reduce any possibility of the cancer coming back. I strongly recommend him if you have prostate issues. I encourage all the guys out there to go get your PSA test done today. It's painless and catching any issues early can make all the difference in the world. Working with Dr. Kefer has been a real blessing and I praise God for the skills, knowledge, and ability that Dr. Kefer has been given and uses to help others.
Dr.John C. Kefer is an amazing surgeon, he removed a large Malignant neoplasm from my right and only kidney. There was no guarantee he could save my kidney. Dr.Kefer said he would do what ever possible to save my kidney. The surgery was around 6 hours longer than first thought. The tumor was larger and more difficult to remove. When I woke up in recovery and my son told me he saved my kidney, I was so happy. He really saved my life. Dr.John C.Kefer is a Amazing Dr. and a Amazing Surgeon. If you have any problems with your kidneys I recommend Dr.John C.Kefer he's the Best.
I had a vasectomy performed by Dr. Kefer here. The bottom line, everything went spectacular. I was a bit anxious the night before and the morning of the procedure. I followed the pre-op directions and hoped for the best. Dr. Kefer was very easy to talk to during the procedure, which definitely helped me get into a nice relaxed state. The local anesthetic delivered via syringe was nearly painless, nothing like going to the dentist for cavities, and even less noticeable than getting vaccines. The recovery realistically took about 2 weeks and didn't impact my daily routines other than not being able to exercise. 10/10 would do it again.
Dr Kefer was incredibly great in is knowledge and his precision of making me feel comfortable before, during, and after my vasectomy. Dr Kefer will definitely have my recommendation to others if they need to have the same procedure performed. I highly recommend him.
I cannot accurately detail the human torture of my Urolift experience with this terrible doctor, and even worse staff. Unbearable pain, screaming, nearly passed-out. Then I was sent home in agony. Lame follow-up from the “doctor” with spotty cell coverage that dropped..no additional follow-up. After NO relief post-surgery, only more pain, I changed doctors and this week needed a follow-up visit to the OR where he found and removed 2 clips (of 7) from the Kefer Urolift that were stapled dangerously close to my bladder. I pray this will finally help me, but no one should ever consider Kefer. I wish I could take more aggressive legal action and this Urolift money factory could be shut down
Dr. Kefer is knowledgeable and caring. He took the time to sit with me and discuss possible causes and outcomes. I never felt like a number. I feel fortunate to have him as my doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
